Thread: LS tools no longer tradeable once they're used

I think I know why they did this. It's because some people were using an exploit to craft sabers for other people. Making the tools non-tradeable is a way to prevent it.
It is a nerf though. Jedi who could use +15.00 tools before now won't be able to (unless they're master LS or bought a pre-24 tool). Non-MLS jedi can't craft as good of a saber anyway - this just further increases that gap. Except that anyone who has a pre-24 tool will be ok. Just hurts the newer jedi.
And it's a nerf to my shop too lol. I'm a merchant. Buy low, sell high. I don't even craft stuff really. But now I won't be able to sell these for long I think...

My understanding is that tools made pre-24 can be bought off a vendor and used. Once they're used once, they're no longer tradeable. Tools made post-24 can't be traded. So for the short term, you may be ok, until all the tools made pre-24 have been used. Then you'll be stuck making your own.
So everyone should go now and buy a pre-24 +15.00 tool (or a few thousand) to hoard until the price goes up...
Lol, the hits just keep on comin'.

I guess i can see how this is a blalance. I'm not Jedi just yet, just at the last stages of the village, but it seems fair to me that plaers without MLS shouldn't be able to have as good a saber as those with MLS. I mean it would suck being MLS, when one of the advantages you have with that skill is being able to make better sabers, when in reality this doesn't apply. Jedi's should have this choice in diversity - Let the MLS players have better sabers... they spent their skill points on it after all

I made 250 15.00 ls crafting tools earlier transferred em to my crafter and put em on my vendor, maybe its just a trade window bug?

Not a bug. "Working as intended", according to CSR <-- my favorite cop-out line.
I think they did this to prevent an exploit. MLS jedi already had better sabers, since they have more experimentation points - I don't think they did this just to gimp other types of jedi. But that's an unfortunate side-effect. People who have the +15.00 tools from before patch 24 will be able to continue to craft better sabers than those who come after.
Personally, I think it would be cool if they had implemented this from the beginning. Similar to sabers, you can only use what you make. But since they didn't, and there are thousands of these tools already in the market (I've personally sold about 8,000 LS tools), then those who have them will be in a better position than those who don't get them now. Future jedi will be permanently at a disadvantage. There is probably a better way to fix the exploit they were worried about, but I doubt it will change now.
I do wish this was documented in the patch notes though. That way everyone would know about it instead of just the few people who happen to read the jedi forum tonight...

It is wrong to assume folks selling these tools are jedi. I contract with a jedi to make a schematic for the tools and then i just crank em out in my factories. Sell at will afterwards. I have sold about 1500 tools using this method. If this is in fact accurate, it will kill a large part of my business...which make me sad.

This means that you'll have to make your own tools. No more buying +15.00 tools from people like me.
Is this old news? I didn't see it in the front page of the jedi forum (which probably represents the last 5 minutes of discussion)
As a merchant (who doesn't even play my jedi), this sucks. As a jedi, it must suck more...
nah from testing seems like ls tools can be trade till you make a lightsaber with them unless that even changed within the last few days.

But , lightsabers can't be traded. The only thing that might possibly be exploited is....
Oh, I see now. Well then yeah, they'd kinda have to make the tools no-trade.

Right you're glad to see the ability to use 15.0 Jedi Crafting tools because he was making some money???
I guess I forgot most Padawans are Crafting Templates able to crank out 15.00 Crafting tools not combat template right???
I have no idea how Jedi got that black eye they have now... geez.

There is no...
"oh well it makes sense."
Because this is SWG and nothing makes sense, its a flat-out nerf.
