My carbine has a dps of 400 or so...
when I put a pup on it I get a dps of 800 or so....
but i hit less cause of the -accuracy mods on the pup.
I kill much more efficiently at 400 dps then pupped at 800.
I have tested it.
Also my dmg capped alr has a low dps....a friendsspeed capped alr has a higher dps then i do.
I kill things like kraytsfaster and more efficiently then he does despite my lower dps.
dps is important.....to sell weapons to people who think dps is the end all be all.

Even using the base /attack it means absolutely nothing.
Its simply your damamge divded by your speed. You dont even /attack at your sabers dammage or speed ratings so dps means absolutely nothing, it should be removed from the game. Its a bragging tool only.

so what you are saying with this sentence is that dps does in fact matter over time becuase no fight is measured in a single hit is it, its measured in how much dmg you do to your opponent vs how much they do to you so if you over time you do more dps then you win. or did i misunderstand what you are saying here.

The Phrase DPS when you examine your saber means jack, Lets take 2 sabers exact same damage, but one is1/4 a second Faster, therefore the DPS is Higher..........Per hit they will inflict the EXACT same amount of damage. Is that clear enough for people who think DPS is king? Of course over a few minutes the faster saber will of done more damage overall, The DPS #'s do not work, and will never work, nor will they mean anything. All they do is dum it down for the kiddies.

thats alot of anger over a typo bah alot of people on this forums need to chill out!
not that simple - dps is a rough guide but not an accurate one. that means that if its a 50 DPS weaon dont expect it to kill much - but by the same token a 1000 dps pistol isnt 2 times as good as a 500 dps one - as other issues come into play - eg action bar size (faster wweapon means your out of action faster) also the formula for dps MAX + MIN / 2*speed is never actually the damage you do per second
eg you hit the NK3 youll hit with the min damage so dps is MIN/speed - you shoot a durni youll do the MAX dam so dps is MAX/speed. also your accuracy plays a part - as does the food you have active and your states as well as the states on your target
DPS is a rough guide - but the mechanics of combat are much more complex than the forumla for dps
too many replies for me to read them all....but dps is relevant. of course its an inaccurate reflection of your true damage, but it does have 1 purpose. Comparison. If im a rifleman going with speed and your a rifleman going for damage, we can at least compare dps and even tho its not an exact indicator, it gives us a general idea if we are moving in the right direction.
also, when you increase your weapon damage, you dps stat will obviously increase. when you reduce your modified speed, your dps stat will greatly increase. there for, having a dps stat in the range of 900 or higher shows that you have very good speed and also very good damage. So what im tryin to say is that the dps stat isnt right on the nose, but its a half decent indicator.
