Considering Jedi isn't the only profession in the game I think your point it more or less moot. Basically every combat profession aside from Jedi is veryenjoyable to play since you can group up with friends and go adventuring - the ones that should be complaining are the crafters, the scouts and the entertainers that got the shaft bigtime with the CU in my honest opinion. For instance, when was the last time you saw a fix for them that both actually adressed a vital issue but also worked?

I realize there are other proffessions in the game, and that they are more or less working as indended, to some extent. Lets talk about Rifleman. Is there any point to pvp'ing with anything other than a rifle? Melee doesn't do squat. Pistols are teh suck. Carbines are better, but Rifles still riegn supreme. Most pistoleers use a rifle more effectively with no accuracy or speed mods, then they do a pistol. Yes, PVE is enjoyable but I'm not talking about PVE, I'm talking about the GCW. On my server, PVP is totally dominated by Jedi, and there is no real point to bringing a non-Jedi/Hybrid to a pvp battle. Publish 19 may change all that and I hope it does. But as it stands, the GCW is won and lost by Jedi. Yes crafters and entertainers got the shaft, but they dont take a big role in the GCW, and never really have. Well Crafters take an indirect role, but thats it. So actually my point is not moot, from the perspective of the GCW.

SOE has no balanced, or fun games, thats why they are losing market share...the only thing that keeps them in the game is that they were the first to do it on such a massive scale...now their competetors are making them look amateurish.

SOE only needs lucasarts approval on issues that involve changing cannon and modification of LA artwork....for general gameplay issues, it needs no approval.

So lemme get this straight... you're saying that they are trying to make us hate them, so that they can release another game and we'll all jump on their new release because... er, because we hate their last one?

I don't get it...

Me neither.

me three.... lol

My point is less about the creation of a new SWG and more about the role Jedi play in the GCW. But let me help you all understand my first point a little better.

Lets say you're Lucas Arts, and you are totally focused on generating revenue. First, you begin to pimp SWG at the time Episode three comes out, show comercials for it, make jedi more abundant and seemingly in reach of anyone, and grow your playerbase. Then, you think, ok how do we make even more money? Lets release a second game. Everquest did it, and loads of people jumed over. But wait... All these veterans have spent years unlocking their Jedi and grinding out to a final template, are they really going to leave the first game for the second? Well, maybe we can make playing a Jedi on this game so undesirable, they'll get fed up, and be willing to at least buy a version of the new one, to see if its any better.

You dont think people would transfer over to a new SWG game despite being totally fed up with this one? We're already glutons for punishment and the diehard fans will put up with just about anything to take part in SWG borked or not.If the opportunity arose for them to continue to do so in a more constructive and enjoyable way, droves of people would run out to the store and pick up a copy of SWG II.

Other than the antiquated game design of the original Everquest, all of SOE's games are balanced and fun: PlanetSide, EQII, etc.

On your second point, I cannot comment, but I will politely disagree.

I play EQ2, aswell as SWG, and have never encountered a bug or heard complaining about devs in while playing eq2. Everytime i log into swg someone is complaining about something. Its not SOE, itsthe dev team.

Is it time for SWG to follow the ultimate path of SOE's other MMORPG, Everquest, and begin anew as SWG II? I believe it is. I believe that the reason they keep making this game less and less enjoyable, more riddled with bugs and exploits with every patch, so that they can release SWG II, and all the people who are fed up with SWG's developers total lack of competence will move on to the new game. /endrunon That actually might not be a bad idea. This game has become so totally borked, that nothing seems to work properly, and instead of fixing them, they make additional changes which will inevitably cause more bugs and exploits. Since we will never again see SWG at the height of its glory, a day long since passed, perhaps it is time to bring out SWG II. Everyone can get a fresh start, and the developers can use SWG as a learning tool to make the new game work properly. Now before you say this doesn't belong on the Jedi forums, I'd like to say that the majority of my frustration over this game comes from playing my jedi. Master Healer is a dead profession. Defender is almost a must. Lightsaber damageis a joke. Not to mention the exploits some Jedi are using, ie: Ryatt trail, Intimidate instant kill, bugging turrets, /duel. I feel like a self-hating Jedi, because the most dominant personalities among the Jedi community are typically the ones that exploit, and trash talk, and gank, and count heads before going into battle. We as a community have ruined this game. And we're not doing anything to redeem ourselves.

still a couple to a few years away from an SWG 2...

What SWG suffers from is a complex code-base with too few developers to manage it. As we have seen, it is very difficult for SWG to have any changes done to it without weeks of testing. Look at EQ2, it has almost daily patch releases. SWG probably could not support such a release schedule.

EQ2 is a MUCH simpler MMO than SWG. It was designed using ideas from SWG and EQ and therefor gets the best of both worlds. It was designed for simplicity of concept. It doesn't have PVP, and all encounters, equipment and items have been reduced to simple mathematical equations for the strength based on level. Overall EQ2 was a success in design of an MMO, however without PVP, without a real endgame, it is sort of lacking. I mean who really wants to hunt beasts all day long?

WoW went even simpler in concept than EQ2. SWG players are brain surgeons compared to the wit required to play WoW. Blizzard did this because PVP is complex enough, why make it more complex than it has to be? The question is, what do players want? Do they want a game that is butt-simple to play, or do they want complexity?

I like the complexity of SWG, I don't think an SWG2 would be any better, it would just be different. Everything that they could do with an SWG2 could be done in this game. All they need is some more people, some more time, and a good vision of where to go from here. All of which they are lacking.

Yup, 2007 is when it's supposed to be out.

I am an SOE customer, now only if they'd treat me as one...hell, I'd be happy if they treated me like a McDonald's customer.

This is exactly my philosophy. I began playing MxOtwo months back and wasn't very far into it andI cancelled that account as soon as I heard SOE bought it out. Damned if I am going to waste my time playing another game that will just end upa stinking busted pile of crap.

As an added screw you, I won't even consider purchasing another Sony product ever again: no TVs, no Playstations, no stereos, etc. Am I jaded by this SWG experience? Yes I am.
