Thread: SWG II?

Is it time for SWG to follow the ultimate path of SOE's other MMORPG, Everquest, and begin anew as SWG II? I believe it is. I believe that the reason they keep making this game less and less enjoyable, more riddled with bugs and exploits with every patch, so that they can release SWG II, and all the people who are fed up with SWG's developers total lack of competence will move on to the new game. /endrunon That actually might not be a bad idea. This game has become so totally borked, that nothing seems to work properly, and instead of fixing them, they make additional changes which will inevitably cause more bugs and exploits. Since we will never again see SWG at the height of its glory, a day long since passed, perhaps it is time to bring out SWG II. Everyone can get a fresh start, and the developers can use SWG as a learning tool to make the new game work properly. Now before you say this doesn't belong on the Jedi forums, I'd like to say that the majority of my frustration over this game comes from playing my jedi. Master Healer is a dead profession. Defender is almost a must. Lightsaber damageis a joke. Not to mention the exploits some Jedi are using, ie: Ryatt trail, Intimidate instant kill, bugging turrets, /duel. I feel like a self-hating Jedi, because the most dominant personalities among the Jedi community are typically the ones that exploit, and trash talk, and gank, and count heads before going into battle. We as a community have ruined this game. And we're not doing anything to redeem ourselves.

So lemme get this straight... you're saying that they are trying to make us hate them, so that they can release another game and we'll all jump on their new release because... er, because we hate their last one?

I don't get it...

Considering Jedi isn't the only profession in the game I think your point it more or less moot. Basically every combat profession aside from Jedi is veryenjoyable to play since you can group up with friends and go adventuring - the ones that should be complaining are the crafters, the scouts and the entertainers that got the shaft bigtime with the CU in my honest opinion. For instance, when was the last time you saw a fix for them that both actually adressed a vital issue but also worked?

However, I think you are very right about the Jedi population in general with a few exceptions. There are indeed alot of trashtalking, exploting, no-good-for-nothing Jedi who the game would be better without, but there is no real wayof dealing with them without punishing the entire Jedi playerbase - which SOE is already doing mind you.

I don't believe there will ever be a SWG II since it is obvious that players cannot handle the responsibility of being put into an already built world with a very popular history andstill keep the spiritof that storyintact.Part of this is SOE and LA fault for not allowing players to experience muchother than grinding professions with Jedi being the ultimate grind, part of it the players themselves as we see again and againsome people won't go out of their way to grief, harass and generally ruin other people's gameplay.

I'd love for lucasarts to pull the license on SWG and give it to a hungry development team that is willing to invest the requisite effort to make star wars what it's really capable of...SOE is unwilling to dedicate that time due to the licensing fees cutting into their profits.

as far as the community ruining the game....It's what the broken and ill conceived mechanics of a halfass job result in....everyone's miserable, so if they see anyone else having any fun...well...it just becomes a matter of sucking the joy right out of them. but don't blame us....we're not the ones who get paid for a job we don't do properly.

If you did some investigation into the matter, you would discover that Lucas Arts is the root of problems with this game.

LA forced the early release of the game, leading to TONS of bugs. LA forced the Jedi revamp(s), cutting even more time out of fixing other professions and bugs. LA forced the rush out of the Combat Upgrade leaving us with a less than balanced and more than buggy system. LA forced the latest expansion to be tied with Episode III, giving us a stupid Wookiee expansion when we could have done with a much needed Galactic Civil War upgrade or expansion. Hoth woulda been nice as well.

Lucas Arts is the problem, and they only think about $$$$$$.

None of SOE's other games are as busted, buggy, and inbalanced. SOE is not the problem.

Yep too much focus on grinding to get a jedi rather than going meeting people and enjoying the star-wars universe.

See my above post. If you knew the truth, Lucas Arts wouldn't appear like a "savior to SWG", they would appear as the f*cking criminals.

LA forced the latest expansion to be tied with Episode III, but they gave them over 14 months heads up, set a solid deadline, and were once again, disappointed, in that they had provided the bulk of the base artwork but still, SOE had hardly even started with only 2 months left to go. giving us a stupid Wookiee expansion when we could have done with a much needed Galactic Civil War upgrade or expansion. whichSOE has refused to consider due to development time and the fact that they prefer working on their non licensed products, Hoth woulda been nice as well. lucasarts would hand the artwork over if they thought SOE might actually provide acceptable mechanics on schedule, but I doubt theyll take too many more chances on getting burned by SOE.

Lucas Arts is the problem because they allowed SOE to pick up the license, and they only think about $$$$$$. that they lose because of the incompetance of SOE

None of SOE's other games are as busted, buggy, and inbalanced because they don't have to pay any licensing fees. the greed of SOE is the problem.

I'll let the reputation of SOE other balanced, functional, and fun games stand for itself. I'll let Lucas Arts inexperience with working with an MMO also speak. Considering that the decisions are based on LA's marketing (instead of decision's being made to fix bugs/problems) and LA's QA, I'll let that stand as evidence.

SOE also has to go through a arduous approval process with LA before fixes and changes go in. Maybe if LA loosened up on the reigns a little bit, quick changes would go in.
