Thread: do you think its possible to unlock FSCS???
That's true Fellstaff. But since people have completed the Holocrons and there are still no Jedi, there must be something else.
It is my personal opinion that the answer still lies in static NPC quests. I was exploring some of the less popular cities like Doaba Guerfel and I can across a CorSec Agent in the back of the cantina that hada mission set. There are so many NPC's like this that nobody seems to bother with because they are not famous or related to Jedi. If powergamers are busy grinding, do they have time for these small quests with little immediate reward?
who plays 16 hours a day? whoever does please tell me how you do it....
i have a full time job, which every normal human should, unless theyre rich or soemthing....and i cant manage more than 5 hours on an extreme playing day, i consider myself a power gamer since i spend MOST of my time on SWG....

I think it is possible. And with the clues from holocrons I feel that alot of the riddle may be mudnae tasks that we would never really feel like doing, therefore no one has done it yet.
Riddle? Are there in-game cues that direct players to the next step in the path or not?
If so, it's a riddle, a puzzle, a game.
If not, it's a lottery ticket, a slot machine, Myst with the monitor turned off.
One of these is fun. The other is not.
"When we meet noise, and fail to make a pattern out of it, we get frustrated and quit. Once we see a pattern, we delight in tracing it, and in seeing it reoccur. What's fun is exercising your brain. Games are puzzles - the are about cognition, and learning to analyze patterns. When you're playing a game, you'll only play it until you master the pattern. Once you've mastered it, the game becomes boring." [emphasis in original]
Raph Koster, with your own words - J'accuse. ("From my parents' basement in Jersey, I stab at thee!")
I don't believe there's any pattern to FSCS. If there were, one of the 300,000 of us would have found it. (If we're wrong, which I highly doubt, don't tell us what it is, just tell us that it exists. Because if I read your paper correctly, and you've done your job accordingly, even you won't be able to answer the question of what the pattern is. And yes, that sounds like oodles of fun.) But that's your GDC presentation, not SWG. What patterns I have seen in SWG are trivial to discover, and those parts of the game are stupefyingly boring.
The only thing I want to know from Koster and friends is this: Did you, or did you not, have enough time to implement a game for FSCS that you, personally consider compatible with your own design philosophies as per what constitutes "Fun"?
Has anyone bothered to think that the Jedi code is bugged? I mean, this game has been known to have a few buggy professions. ![]()
I think the code has been around for quite some time, but not tested. To illustrate this, look how poorly tested some things are that come from the test server. Jedi have not been tested on anything but SOE internal servers.
Don't be surprised if a slot should have been opened by now but wasn't due to a bug. It wouldn't surprise me if the whole FS/Jedi codeset is buggy...and how will the devs know this, it hasn't been tested effectively.

The holocrons aren't hitting the right people. Do you really think the powergamers that have 3 AT-ST's have done many themeparks or NPC quests? There are very few achiever powergamers out there, and holocrons aren't the easiest thing to get solo unless you have 3 at-st's.
Actually anyone with master scout (not sure about this, I just know being able to run up hills fast lets me kite a lot of stuff....the thing is I can do this on flat ground, so I think you might technically only need the bleed), a good suit of composite, and any of the full marksman weapon lines can solo the force users on dantooine. Kite and bleed and stay farther than 64m away from them at all times (until they stop bleeding). If they're lucky they'll get one shot off before going prone if they ever do get within firing range. The composite "should" block most ofthe damage, and even if it doesn't most of the time if you are running fast enough you slide out to about 70m+ away, and therefore won't get DBed. There are obviously rare failures, but I can do about 20 in a row without dying, sometimes I'll get one a death and have to run back out, but overall, I've killed about 250 force users now using this tactic.
ps - their friends are who you really have to worry about....for some reason NPCs don't seem to go prone unless you're attacking them too, so while you're running from this guy thats already 80m from you his friend at 55m is pelting yo ash. Usually if its too bad I die, but about 50/50 I get both of them at the same time because I just bleed the "new" guy too and then he drops.
