It's the rooting that makes me want to tear my hair out. Do all profession skills with warmup timers root the player?

Yes, they all do. For that matter, a Rifleman going prone has to wait until somewhat settled before taking cover.

I supose to play devils advocate its like saber power attack.

Better than force hit/strike as power attack is better than saber hit e.t.c.

Yeah there is some sort of logic that SOE uses that makes sense to them as to why it exists. But the matter of fact is that saber throw has the same range, does similar damage, has no warmup, and doesn't root you in place. So why would I use lightning again?

Cos unless you have the 'glass cannon' temp, you wont have the choice between adv saberthrow and imp lightning single?

what about all those 0404 LS users out there with MPW and dabled everywhere else? I'd still take improved saber throw over lightning. I think Adv Saber throw kicks lightnings *ss, but I still think improved is better as well. The only reason I've ever used lightning is for some variety.

Hmm.. i didnt consider Imp saber throw tbh.. you've got me there..

Errm.. you should have more acc with lightning as MP thn u would have with Imp saber throw as x4x4 sabers?

Hmm, yeah you would have more accuracy with lightning as a Master Powers, but when you can do improved saber throw 2 times for each one time you can do lightning..... The warmups kill powers, yeah some things need them like the area lightning, but strike and single lightning don't if you ask me.

Out of interest do you actually use strike? (sorry for off topic)

I thought that as a force to damage ratio hit was much better?

Would you think that an adv version of lightning single should have a warmup?

Nope, I use force hit myself, strike is worthless.

If the damage was high enough, then yeah an adv. lightning single should have a warmup. Currently the damage isn't high enough to justify it's use, when I can use saber throw to get the same effect with no negatives, and I can even use saber throw twice in the same amount of time it takes for one lightning.

There still is no reason for me to use lightning over saber throw. Saberthrow is just better in every way. It'd kinda sad that this is the case when powers is supposed to be the ranged profesion. FIX LIGHTNING!
