I'm mpowers/menhancer I think that lightening should not have a warmup or atlest let us be able to move while it does it.

My only problem with it having a timer is that what's the point of using it when I can use saber throw to get the same effect with no negatives. The timer should mean it has something better, it doesn't.

my guess is:

saber throw and lighting(with out a timer) would be unbalanced maybe?

That's all i can think of for the timer.

This is a good discussion.

Why in the heck does lightning have such a long timer and why does it "root" you place?

One is bad enough, but both is really bad.

I dont see why it needs the timer/warm-up...... It does about 980-1200 from cl79-82 i think, which isnt much dmg i see lightsaber users doing about the same in groups... Lightening should have some uber debuffers/roots or something if it has that warmup .... Or do like 1500dmg + since we cant move while using it.

Well maybe the Developers feel you draw the lightning from the ground. It is said lightning goes from the ground to the sky, so the ground is the source of your power. At lest I would like to think this is the logical explanation. But then a person uses "Force lighning" which requires them to use their force as a source of this lightning. If light and dark powers ever get points pools I'm sure drawing lighning energy fromthe ground would be a "Light" side power and use less force power while a moving Lightning attack would be considered "Dark" and add to your dark force points and require more force to implement. Just a thought. Be wonder ful if the blue "Light " and redish "Dark" animations for lightning attacks gets implemented. Its already animated to get tinted in either color schem.

It's a thought, who knows how SOE thinks, or if they do...

But honestly I can't see how that would be unbalanced, I use force hit to alternate with saber throw currently. Hit's a good 600+ damage a pop itself, I don't see how the two together could be unbalancing when MLS can use any number of combinations like Head/Leg/Body.

Currently lightning is just a waste...

Wasn't Palpatine able to use lightning while moving and KD?

i can saber throw and lighting faster than saber throw saber throw.

just think how fast you could hit saberthrow lightning and keep spamming that if you didn't have a timer on lightning.

I'm guessing that's what they would be unbalanced.

I wouldn't mind that at all though.

Saber Throw + Saber Throw, usually I get the 2nd saber throw off just after the lighting fires if I were to fire lightning at the same time as the first saber throw. Not that I've sat down with a timer or anything, just kinda my feel for the speed of things after playing MLS/MPW for several months.

I just don't think that can be where they're worried about unbalancing since as a rifleman you could alternate 2 high damage specials that hit for around 1k+ a hit with a range of 64m's instead of power's 32m's.

If they're afraid to take away the dang zip bar, give it some debuff effect as well and leave the zip bar on. But something needs to be done because currently I see no point in using lightning.

It's the rooting that makes me want to tear my hair out. Do all profession skills with warmup timers root the player?
