Thread: Details of Cloak Nerf
That is the part that is ridiculous. I'm gonna crawl in to attack my enemy? Puhlease, renders the skill un-viable as a first strike ability. FR3 is more of a first strike tool then crawling in... I.e. how many riflemen do we see crawling in to a pvp battle? (actually you wouldn't see any of them, lol, but you get my point).

The Rifleman's Cover ability and a Jedi's Force Cloak now adhere to a common rule-set that falls in line with the new hiding/stealth system introduced with the Ranger revamp.
Here are some rules common to all types of buffs that remove you from sight (including Force Cloak):
1. Taking any offensive action reveals you instantly (currently the only exception is the Rifleman's ability Conceal Shot).
2. Interacting with some objects in the world instantly reveals you (could be switches, terminals, containers, etc)
3. Some commands cannot be executed and require you to reveal yourself before executing the command
4. All of these buffs can be "toggled off" at any time you wish to become view-able by others
5. Some non-combat actions can also reveal you (like healing for instance)
6. You are afflicted with a movement snare when you are stealthy (rooted when just camouflaged)
1. Offensive actions consist of anything other than a heal, channel or protections (shield, armor, feedback, absorb, AI, resists, etc). So dont press your saber attacks or force drains while under cloak.
2. Using cloak to stop base takedowns will be stopped with this fix.
3. Still waiting on a list from the Devs.
4. Seems that they are making the "stealth" or cloak a toggle if it is already not that way.
5. My first impression of this is that we will not be able to heal at all. Ive been asking the Devs if this included healing ourselves or just healing others.
6. A snare is being added just like it was to AI so that Cloak is nolonger and escapse tool. The Devs first classified it to be a tool for "First Strike" ability on implementation.

Sorta surprised its taken this long for the nerf herders to get it done.
Blame the Jedi who abused it.

No blame the cry babies that want to nerf anything that they dont have.I agree that you should not be able to loot containers and I agree that you should be unable to assist others and not be able to aggro mobs. But the snare and the not being able to heal myseld and channel is just stupid. I hope they get aura and power strike next.
No, blame the Jedi that abused it. I'm not sure what's up with the snare, myself.
You include yourself in those "cry babies that want to nerf anything that they dont have" when you said "I hope they get aura and power strike next". You are part of the problem.

I for one am extremely happy about the changes coming up, especially the snare option. I do feel for those of you who did not abuse this skill, but we all know that those of you that qualify under this are very few and far between. The majority of the time this skill is abused worse then anything seen in the past.
The reality is, you just cant have a skill like that in a game like this and expect it to be used fairly, if there is a way to screw people most will take it. I am not a fan of cloak so my opinion is going to be a bit biased, but, once again, I applaud the changes.
how about blame the developers who created it and published it with out properly testing it.....na that would make to much sence. nerf nerf nerf nerf is that all u kids can say?
stop crying and go outside or read a book....HATERS!!!!

But then the snare would aply after the cloak is activated right?!!? so then its still an escape tool..... root the enemy, burstrun away and then when you're far enough cloak... you might walk slower but they can't target or attack you when you're cloaked so you can just walk away.....

Are you just upset about the snare (understandable) or are you upset about looting while cloaked, or shutting down bases, etc while cloaked?
antares
Point 5 is just as much an issue to me as point 6 is. Fair enough about not healing others - though the force cost of this with the drain from cloak controls this IMHO but we must be able to heal ourselves and channel while cloaked. The rest makes sense though, I think.
Cheers,
All the idjits had to do to fix cloak was make it so nothing would aggro you, and make it so interacting with an object or person would break cloak. Take the lazy way out they did.

I think a Dev, I've seen Blixtev's name being bandied around unfairly, needs to step in here and clarify what their vision of cloak is to see if it lines up with the players vision of cloak. IF a snare is working as intended, I think powers users can live with it as long as someone up the chain comes in and clarifies the devs visionfor it.
I'm specifically thinking about the offensive versus defensive arguments in a couple of other threads. Many powers users I know usecloak as a defensive ability to *get away* from combat and recuperate. This is a completely legitimate use of an ability that takes you out of combat. To me, the new changes will do just that: remove the user from combat completely. I don't like the fact that a few people are using a few obscure dev quotes, without links to the original sources mind you (!!), to stir up the pot on this system change to the game's stealth invisibility rules.
I agree totally that the exploiting needs to stop and these changes will hopefully fix the worst ones. But I think the community needs more clear information instead of all the rumormongering going on right now.

You honestly think that a snare like the Avoid Incap snare is not much of a nerf?
Holy Star Wars, Batman. Surely you jest!![]()
