Thread: How do you feel about pass thru healing?

I don't like it. I had to make /forceheal self; and /forceinfusion self; macros to compensate for the fact I got killed many times healing others while I wanted to heal myself. Maybe make that a separate skill?!?

If I had to recommend things to work, it would be

- Remove corpse sliding and rotating after they are killed or incapped... Very annoying to see a BH slide as you are trying to DB him

- Fix the extremely frustrating bug that you sometimes get "too far" when tryint to attack, even though you are 0m away from the mob.

When i want to heal groupmembers that are in need of a heal i use ctrl+<number> to target them. Ctrl+1 is myself ctrl+2 the 2nd in the group ect. Works very effective for me.

I must say I totally agree that this mechanic needs to be removed. I, for one, am tired of attempting to heal myself (the usual tank) only to have the heal go to someone else. I have a macro for healing myself but two buttons for essentially the same move is a type of redundency that is not appreciated by me.

Just to clarify to folks, this is what we currently have in live. The question is if we like the current system.

PersonallyI find it more of a pain than anything else. If I want to heal a group member whose stats I can moniter on my screen I tap the members stat and do a heal. Losing my heals or getting them misdirected seems to be something that hurts more often than helps.

What I think might be good would be able to have a mini tool bar that is connected with the group member window. Say you have a piket targeted and are doing battle. Your frind in the group needs healed. A single click on that group members stats in the window highlights that person in the member window without placing them as the target you are fighting. Then clicking on the desired action in the mini tool bar performs whatever healing command needed. The main toolbar continues to just be focued on your heals or combat commands ageinst the target. Also of you double click the group members stats then is then your target gets replaced.

Or something that woud be nice with all the little icons nowadays is instead of being able to see 24 icons in my tool bar, make it so we can expand our tool bar to have 48slots available at one time. That would solve a lot of my problems.

How can you say you've lived life if you've never danced?
Well I do remember Han having a one piece suit made out of carbonite but it weighed a ton. Still it didnt require any ironing and was very wear resistant.
Thanks SOE! The CU and NGE gave me my life back. Thanks! Bitterness is the taste of love lost, a tear of acid that burns the heart.
Long gone, in sorrow of song. Stand I make to deliver hope with twisted temporal past, for the ripples in time distort what affects when. Prowlies a must see Clicky!
As a dreamer I sing to the sea and imagine the possibilities and potential this game could free, but when I get home a sad sight there be. A lost fool, for once was is gone, what could've been to never be, and the angel of my heart to be forgotten, locked away by the key of SOE.

i dont like it at all. I hate accidently healing the mob or a buddy when im trying to heal myself or healing the wrong buddy. Its pretty easy to target a friend by clicking his name on the group member roster on the screen. The pass thru healing is confusing and makes heal just seem too random.

Too often players and the devs have a mindset that professions should be balanced with 1 on 1 pvp in mind. This mindset is ruining the game. The benchmark for balance should be determined by the role a profession plays in a group setting. As long as the current mindset continues we will never see uniqueness among the professions, nor will we ever see individuality within a given profession. We will never see the SWG universe expanded as the focus will only ever be balance pass after balance pass after balance pass.

I find the pass through healing and attacks (because they essentally use the same mechanics) to be a decent idea. However they tend to be inconvenient at critical moments.

To work around the problems I've found with healing the wrong person I've created custom macros.

To heal my self I just added self to the end of macro line. for all others I have a target group number 1-8. Yes I have 9 seperate macros but it let's me heal people much faster than clicking on them then healing.

So now I heal who needs it not who the game thinks I meant.

I don't like it either, and for me the problem is, that when you want to heal yourself, and heal a group memeber, it also causes unintended aggro.

Did not know that you could use the cntrl / number combo for groups, and thanks for that.

I would like to see it removed.

Do you have all that on a tool bar or something? How do you manage that many healing macros?

I have the same issues with the pass through healing causing me to miss a critical heal on myself. Unfortunately I find my keystroke macro for healing myself to be unreliable in high lag

I would have to say, I am strongly against it.

Reasons are :

1) It makes healing yourself even MORE of a pain in the rump. We complain alot now, of bugs that make it heal others instead of self..if it was intended, it was cause only more grief to the Jedi playerbase.

As a jedi, even a master defender can take sooo much damage, that the center of attention for healing MUST be on yourself. They way it is now, if your not your own healer as a Jedi..your toast. (and its been like that since the dawn of the game)

2) The second reason I am against it, is because the ONLY time you will EVER need to really heal another group member..is when doing high level dungeon stuff, and only 2 come to mind.. Avatar, and DWB. Those two places have soooo many mobs, that targeting one and healing trying to heal a group member could very very easily end up being the wrong trarget anyways, perhaps that mob was shooting someone who could heal themselves, or just healed up.

Of course for PVP, healing yourself is the only way to go if its large scale...only a ganksquad where the healer outnumbers the attackers will it be a usefull tool.

The only situation in the entire game where this would come into play and WORK, is the necrosis battle..which back to point 1 , any Jedi would rather heal themselves, that someone else, especially if they are the one tanking.

So I am going to have to say, while the idea of having somehting like that is good.. the game system andmechanics that we have known forever make it pretty obsolete to use pass through healing.

Works ok as far as I am concerned. If I want to heal myself I press Ctrl-1 and then the heal button, if I want to heal others I do likewise.
Auto-target on attack only changes your target if you dont have anything targeted at all. If you have the one you want to heal targeted, no mob attacking you will be targeted.
