I have tested this a few times. Killing just a few NPCs or even a few drive bys will not put you on terminals by themselves.
There is a threshold on visibility for terminals, also decay on visibility, so you will not get on terminals by a single driveby unless you have built up some visibility already.
Gosh, Tanks, how helpful. Realizing that your handiwork is seriously jeopardizing your pool of victims? Too few jedi in the game for the BH to hunt soon? Hmmmm.

Well tanks I think ur a fair and honest personand you are right doing those things alone won't get you on the terms... Unless you do it often. HoweverI have read it from the devolpers, using ur ls or force abilities near npc's or pc's generates vis. That is what I go by and I have not gotten on the terms yet... I say be safe rather than sorry.

Drive bys happen, either by mistake or on purpose.
My question is, I set up a macro that clears the combat queue and then has /peace about 5-6 times. If I use then when I see someone coming near me, but I'm still attacking when they pass me by will I get visability? Since you can't peace out totally and turn off your saber. From what I read that if you are defending yourself you won't get visability.

if your saber is lit and they are within 32m, you get vis
Whoever said that if you are just defending yourself you dont get vis is full of crap
Makes no difference to the system

On my server I am a Bounty Hunter, and I also have a DJ(ex-)K.
In preperation for the CU, I wanted to grind my template up to double mastery from it's previous dabbler template so I went on the grind. In order to double master I had to go up from 4004 so I had to do almost 7m xp. I wanted to do all of this without hitting the terminals as I knew I would be hunted a LOT if I made them thanks to the number of Jedi I have killed with my BH.
I hunted on Dath, made a few simple rules and stuck to them
- I never hit a mob if an NPC was within 40m. I figured 32m was the visibility range but NPC's would often agro from 40m so did not want to tempt them.
- If a NPC spawned when I was hitting the lair, or came into range, I would burstrun and peace, not using specials.
- On the odd occassion an NPC attacked me (usaully NS blowing my swoop) I would burstrun and peace, not using any specials. I would only heal myself or use forcerun outside of 40m of the NPC.
- If a sneaky NPC got near me when I was using saber specials or healing, I would kill it. (Well.. if it is dead it can't inform on me right
)
- If I got a driveby, I stopped using specials.
Over the last 3 days of my grind I killed 6 NPC's. In the week before that I killed roughly the same amount. I never once made the terminals.
I made an assumption that visibility was caused by the same things that used to generate saber tef (ie, using force abilities and saber specials, but NOT simply using default attack). I always had my saber equipped. I never wear robes as they look bad and I Vanity is a weakness of mine
As soon as I finished the grind and made master healer I went to MO and did a /totalhealother on a random player. There were 30 or more people within 32m. I then logged off and played my BH. I never made the terms. Later that day I logged him back on to heal a Jedi guildmate. I am still not on the terms.
Any player who tells you they got on the terms because a random Mokk spawned is either a liar or bugged. It takes grinding on a number of NPC's or being viewed by players over an extended period of time to make the terms. In the past I have always been on because I was group hunting or was grinding faction on rebel missions. I have never made the terms without knowing exactly beforehand that I would get on them. As long as a padawan is careful they should never get on the terminals.

I killed 2 NPC's that came in range of my spinattack, and about 5 with my vk. They all went unlooted and laid on the ground as I was taking out the lair. A nice BH tipped me off that I was on the terms about 10mins after this happened. I had not used the Jedi in about 2 weeks and got Vis in 10mins from2 live NPC kills and a few corpses (how the hell do corpses nark on you?) I had only one other encounter with an NPC about 6 weeks ago (doubt that was still an issue). So killing NPC's, even 2, with specials and leaving a few corpses laying around, will almost certainly put you on the terms right away.

no its not full of crap, i often kill NPC with auto defense of my saber, i have never been on the boards, /knockOnWood
An example: i go into theed for some reason, and i just happen to be combatant for some stupid reason and here i am auto attacking a storm tropper in front of about 30 oppisite faction players. Well anyways no boards there. Like i said also whenever a mokk comes up and try to take my lizzards i allways get close enough they attack me and i auto attack back, no vis.
dont take anyones advice not even mine
Using force powers in front of NPC's and Players will give you VIS, being that there is now to be now default attacks, this means any attack will gain you vis. this really needs addressing.
As the new so call default attack is indeed a special and will use force powersand there's no combat que so you can't stop attacking if an NPC or Player enters within the set 32 mtrs range!

u have a certain limit of vis ppl seeing ure saber equipping clothes etc get u so much vis...so specials will give u more vis then auto attack but auto attack still gives u vis and if they stick around long enough watching u auto attack u will get on the boards 2 my understanding.

But the animal is still alive and aggro, so I defend myself with the default attack, but I didn't initiate it.
I have it confirm'ed from a CSR that the default attack does not give VIS and in the new CU theres not default attack, and yes you can select one. But by using specials you gain VIS and the new default attack in the CU is always a specail!

Using your LS near NPC's gives you VIS. If you have ever hunted on Dant for any length of time you will see these random spawns. I see them all the time. Not always NPC mind you but yea jynta's mokks even factioned NPC's. Now was this the only reason why they are on the terms? Probably not but it definatly gives you VIS.
Random occurances, logically speaking, can get you on the terms if you grind often enough and have bad enough luck. I am not saying this is often the case, only that it is possible esp for those of us not so lucky.
To discount the possibility and even go on to claim those people are eliars is absurd. How do you know what got them on the terms? I would think they know better than you do.
