I have about 20 bookmarks of retailers with the items in-stock.

Hello Folks,

I spoke with our Japanese community relations team and I was able to get some more information regarding the Special Edition goggles. This is from Nori-san, from the Japanese Customer RelationsTeam =)

The Japanese SE goggles, were created for Japan Special Edition named "Commander BOX". The Commander Box has 4 types ofreward bonuses for the purchasers.

  1. The SWG art book which is same as US version. Of course, the book was translated in Japanese.

  2. Two mini metal Figurines (the TIE defender and the Z-95 head hanter).

  3. An in-game item, the vehicle (the flash speeder).

  4. An in-game item, the 3 types ofgoggles.

About in-game items:

If you have a Commander Box, the in-game items, #3 and #4, can be used in both US and JPN servers. *Also, If you have a Special Edition (original US version), the original goggles can be used in both US and JPN servers. So, you can see all type goggles in both servers. *There are JPN players who get both of Special Edition, and have both of goggles.

Since the Commander Box is the limited edition, the production has already been finished. Although a few may still beavailable in Japan, it may be difficult for you to get it.

Nori-san also pointed out that some US players have said that the JPN goggles are cooler than the US version. However, some JPN players have said that the US goggles are cooler than JPN version. This is very interesting.

Always a catch-22!! Thanks Nori-san (JPN Community Relations) for assisting with the answers for this thread =)

That being said, why not give all of said users all 6 pairs and make us happy? It couldn't take that much work to do so, and since they're not tradeable it would have no impact on anyone except to give a freebie to whose of us who paid extra, and to add a little something extra to the atmosphere of the game....

I understand the intend behind this statement, thought it's not an example of a Catch-22 situation. An example of a Catch-22 situation might be something like this. US customers can have the Japanese goggles, as long as they don't want them. All they have to do is ask for them. But, if they ask for them, that shows that they want them, and they wouldn't be able to have them. I realize that isn't a very good example. It takes someone that's particulary twisted, to come up with a good Catch-22.

Japanese Special Edition Info

Man, Japan gets all the coolest stuff compared to North America, plus its on DVD instead of 20 darn CD-Roms *exaggeration*. Its like this with music and box sets for videos as well. Sad Really. As if there isnt a market in America for this cool stuff *sarcasm*.

Folks! Its not the TIE Defender, it is the Oppressor like I pointed out in my post just before Tiggs. And Tiggs, if JPN thinks oour goggles are cooler, and we think theirs are cooler, I would GLADLY switch right now for the Japanese ones.

Did you even follow your own link? It has a picture of a TIE Defender and the text, when translated, says TIE Defender. Unless they packaged something other than pictured, it is the Defender, not the Oppressor. =)

I relooked at them. It is the Defender. My bad! It just looks so simular to the Oppressor as well when you look fast.

I still want the goggles though (and a defender in-game)

I spent about two hours using an online Japanese translator and various Japanese search engines.

The product is actually fairly widely available. Not rare but certainly not everywhere.

Mainstream retailers have them.

However none of them will ship software to the United States. Even called one and got an English speaking rep who said it deals with privacy/import/export laws in regards to digital entertainment.

Superb.

PM me the phone number. It's possible you may be able to get the rep to read off the CD key to you, or email it to you or somthing, if you purchase the box.

They can't ship it, but if you can get them on the phone, I'm sure they would be very agreeable.

Heh heh what was I saying just a few pages back!!

Well, this reinforces the question, if we have the SE goggles already, why not allow us to trade them for the commander goggles? And the same in reverse? That way the customers who bought whatever special edition was available to them can get whichever style they like.

Or better yet, make all the pecial goggles of all 6 kinds available with the /segoggle command?

Good grief... we got what we got when we bought the SE!
Any further additions to the game should not take SE Owners into consideration.

As far as putting those Japanese Goggles in-game... absolutely do it.
Just do it in a way that makes THOSE goggles available to all customers... best-case would be as Tailor CRAFTED items (Yay!!).

So, please, stop with the "Give them to SE owners!".

Here's a group of Players/Customers that deserves a gift... Any Customer that has been subscribed and non-stop-actively subscribed to the game since the first month the game was released and is still an active subscriber.

THEY deserve a reward.

I can't believe people are looking for a greater return on that over-two-year-old purchase... enjoy the book and I hope you enjoyed exclusive rights to the only eyewear in the game for those 2+ years... now shuddup!

They are looking for the return because it was promised to them as an insentive on the boards by devs if they bought the SE version (before the game went live). They claimed in the the future, there would be cool things for the SE owners. It has yet to happen. So something like this which is so simple, they fail to instill at the request of the player base, even though its there, but out of thegrasp.
