Thread: Dear Special Edition owners and devs, a word about the goggles...

I've seen this promise mentioned a few times by players, but I never saw the actual comment myself.

Does anyone know exactly what was said?

I've been a part of this community since the beginning (The old old message boards and all).

I'm not saying I couldn't have missed this, hehe, too much for anyone to capture it all... it just never sounded right to me and I was starting to think it was some imagined promise... however, that's the first time I've heard that it was actually a comment on the boards, which could explain why I missed it.

Unfortunately we dont have access to the old message boards when questions and information was answered on the retail boxes. But there are plenty of Vets here that can attest to comments made saying people who bought the SE package would have access to simular incentives when future expansions come out.

More or less it was said that way. Not quoted word for word since its not in front of me, but that is the meaning and pretty close to it.

Hello Folks,

I spoke with our Japanese community relations team and I was able to get some more information regarding the Special Edition goggles. This is from Nori-san, from the Japanese Customer RelationsTeam =)

The Japanese SE goggles, were created for Japan Special Edition named "Commander BOX". The Commander Box has 4 types ofreward bonuses for the purchasers.

  1. The SWG art book which is same as US version. Of course, the book was translated in Japanese.

  2. Two mini metal Figurines (the TIE defender and the Z-95 head hanter).

  3. An in-game item, the vehicle (the flash speeder).

  4. An in-game item, the 3 types ofgoggles.

About in-game items:

If you have a Commander Box, the in-game items, #3 and #4, can be used in both US and JPN servers. *Also, If you have a Special Edition (original US version), the original goggles can be used in both US and JPN servers. So, you can see all type goggles in both servers. *There are JPN players who get both of Special Edition, and have both of goggles.

Since the Commander Box is the limited edition, the production has already been finished. Although a few may still beavailable in Japan, it may be difficult for you to get it.

Nori-san also pointed out that some US players have said that the JPN goggles are cooler than the US version. However, some JPN players have said that the US goggles are cooler than JPN version. This is very interesting.

Always a catch-22!! Thanks Nori-san (JPN Community Relations) for assisting with the answers for this thread =)

Once again I ask you this Tiggs, where are the future benfits for purchasing the US Special Edition package like we were told? You're telling me you can't even give in on something that was included in a Japanese SE version of the game? You guys, and your plans and promises for the future are a joke. Exactly when do you guys plan on going back and fulfilling your past promises. At this point I think they need to change the title Dev to Welcher.

This answer is BS. The SE was supposed to be limited as well. The SE purchasers were supposed to see future benefits from purchasing that particular package. A player asked if you guys could see about passing them along to SE owners, and you reply by telling them they have to purchase a new game, and a Japanese one at that. You forget one huge thing though Tiggs, THEY'RE NOT TRADEABLE!!! Why would someone buy that. Answer the question. Can you guys extend these items (that are on non-Japanese servers as well) to SE owners? If not, where are the "future" benefits these players were supposed to see?

Meanwhile, crafters are saying "We'd really like to have a TV that's larger than 12" and gets more than 4 channels and doesn't constantly lose vertical control", and entertainers are saying "Can we get some color instead of this B&W piece of junk?" And smugglers? We're listening to radio programs of "The Shadow" and "The Abbot and Costello Comedy Hour" and hearing FDR's Fireside Chats. I'm pretty sure it was suggested somewhere near the start of the thread that you trade; The Japanese version gets the US special goggles, the US version gets the Japanese goggles. Judging by what you said and the posts here, there are customers on both sides of the pacific (and atlantic) that would consider an exchange like that desireable.

Is there any reason why it couldn't be done, if the will existed?

Anyone else think it was mean to give them a TIE defender figurine when they can't fly one or fight one in game?

Japanese Special Edition Info

Man, Japan gets all the coolest stuff compared to North America, plus its on DVD instead of 20 darn CD-Roms *exaggeration*. Its like this with music and box sets for videos as well. Sad Really. As if there isnt a market in America for this cool stuff *sarcasm*.

Folks! Its not the TIE Defender, it is the Oppressor like I pointed out in my post just before Tiggs. And Tiggs, if JPN thinks oour goggles are cooler, and we think theirs are cooler, I would GLADLY switch right now for the Japanese ones.

So true... the only ANNOYING part was we were promised a special edition Space Expansion WAAAAAY back when they first announced the US release of Galaxies. They said more expansions would come with special editions with simular items. And I do recall somewhere someone said something pewter ships like the female zabrak when they were talking about the JTL expansion.

Either way I want those bangin goggles. They rock hardcore. When I first saw them on NPCs in the RotW expansion I was hoping for them to be lootable or eventually gotton. Unfortunately we get the shaft of the NPCs teasing us with them. The JPN players dont have NPCs teasing them with our goggles (since they supposedly like ours better).
