Thread: Status Of LOOT in SWG
well, it's a sad day, i'm going to agree with Bryce....He wants the loot fixed so he can camp them again...(had several run in's with his kind in the geo caves...always struck me as a jerk)...but i would like to see the loot fixed...i am a loot collector, i don't mind the hard race, with a rare chance...but most of it, the good stuff anyway...has almost NO chance....and i agree this is not what they promised in the "loot" revamp....
Hard to get anyone to go "loot" hunting anymore, only to group and kill Bols.....true loot vendors are drying up...i don't see how jeid function well, without good crystals or pearls.....sad to see...maybe threads like this will help....
The current loot situation sucks and its primarily down to CU and ROTW been rushed out to meet the Ep 3 Cinema release. Comments from Tiggs about pearls still been tied to level 287 Krayts which don't exist just seem unpolished to me and makes me think that the CU was rushed out without the tables been adjusted to account for the new levels. Having worked in the it industry, I am not surprised or particularly upset by this, every job I have ever had has been made more difficult by some initiative been rushed out in a half-assed fashion. It is clear to me now that SOE are going to go down the Everquest road even further with expansions with new lootevery 3-6 month to keep things "fresh".
There is a change in the air, the responses on these boards from the Community relations people are starting to seem more human and there are fixes for actual issues instead of the usual dross that constitutes a publish. In fact props to the dev team for giving squad leader some much needed love instead of messing around with BH and Jedi again.
I would hazard a guess and say that there will be some kind of change made to Crystals/Lightsabers in the near future. I feel a disturbance in the force that suggest the nerfbat is limbering up to hit the Pre CU Pearl market for six. I also imagine that there will be some Loot revamp in the near future but it will be completely different to anything we want or expect since SOE like to give us what they think we want rather than what we actually want.

Dude... that loot revamp has already "happened." It was Publish 11.3 in November of 2004. Reading through that in concept thing, I realize that only a quarter of the things they said would be implemented ever came through-the syringe things for temporarily increasing stats is the only thing that I know came through (along with the huge amount of posters).
However, this caught my attention...
Level Appropriate Loot: Basically, loot should be relative to the level of the NPC so that the reward makes sense. For instance, killing an NPC named Razor whose title is Dark Lord of the Universe should not result in a loot item that is a CDEF pistol. Killing a thug who's barely strong enough to hold the rifle he's carrying should not result in a phat loot item that is as good as a top-of-the-line T-21 rifle.
That is BS in the highest sense of the word. What is a Jar of Foraged Bugs doing on a lvl 82 Double elite mark? What is a Delicate Trigger Assembly doing on a Krayt Dragon? What is Heavy Duty Leather doing on a Dark Jedi Master?

there is a very simple way for them to fix the main reason they nerf all the good loot and then reinsert it to the game i read this on a post the othernight cant remeber who said it but it smacked me in the face like askilletall they have to do is remove all forms of macro looting such as remove 1 simple line that would kill the afk campers and that magic line is /loot rofl that would so screw the afkers and then they could give us loot hounds back our bone

Nightsisters have worthless loot; krayt's are worthless; Geo Cave so worthless that its disturbing (WS cant even use the bones because it effects to badly on SAC).
If you love pve,,this game has come down to dwb and necrosis. Very sad. I used to love hunting elders; acklay; krayts but they just havent adjusted the Loot to correspond to the level of the creature. WHY IS THIS? Why adjust the creature without adjusting the loot to correspond to it.
Yes the creatures in geo cave can be killed and are well adjusted but nobody ever goes. Its empty all day long because the loot is worthless and there is no reason to go.
Anyway,,months have gone by and still there is no reason to hunt these things...Some of the greatest things ever created in this game are all but gone.
Comments?
First off, what is worthless?
Is worthless something that cannot be sold quickly for large amounts of credits?
Is loot(credits) the only reason you kill things/play the game?
Nightsisters
Armor segments (+10 health bonus layers for armor)
Crystals (infrequent loot, there are better NPCs if you need crystals)
Nightsister weapons (for the weapon collector)
Badge for killing a boss NS at the stronghold (for the badge collector)
Krayts
Krayt Dragon Scales(+5-15 health bonus segments for armor)
Krayt Dragon Pearls (quality of a pearl influences CHANGE of a good tune, you can get a perfect tune off a poor pearl, it is just more unlikely than getting a perfect tune off a premium)
Krayt Dragon Tissue (useful for ranged weapons)
Badge for killing an Ancient (for the badge collector)
Geo Cave:
Red cubes for melee weapons (My custom made PH had these put in, 300.1 base DPS with 88 SAC, very good for a 2H weapon)
Acklay Bones (used in melee weapons, also good for display)
Kwi & Klicknik glands (incredible food items)
Geo Weapons (For the weapons collector)
Acklay Badge (For the badge collectors)
I only do PvE, been that way since launch. There are many, MANY things that can be done over and over again in this game (and yes som of them for easy loot/credits). If you find that there is no reason to do PvE quests or adventures, then you are probably part of a PvP only guild. If you feel that there is no longer any good PvE loot, then create a character on the Tempest server, travel to Corellia, and head to a player city called Gold Beach. From there, head to coordinates -2000 -2000. There is a cluster of 6 houses near there (as close as can be, darn river & building restricitons). Those 6 houses hold most of my loot collection. Take a tour of the Lounge, Art Gallery, Vault, Armory, Workshop, and Hunting Lodge. If you posess everything that I have displayed there, then you have indeed done much, and I could understand why you might not think there is much to do, but I HAVE gotten all those items, and I STILL have much more to get that I know of. I also don't make my money by selling loot
See the first couple sections
Again, your reason for playing may influence why you think there is no reason to hunt them. Also, can you give some examples? My armor is better (RIS w/ 7 ADK, +50 health on each piece) My weapons are better (300+ Base DPS PH w/ 88 SAC), my vehicles are better (BARC, AV-21), making money is easy (see the sig, I can make 10 mil in a good day), and there are STILL things I have yet to do in this game.
In closing:
Why do you play this game?
Do you play to get loot?
If so, what do you do with the loot(do you just sell it like a credit farmer)?

Oki TyTan ill try and respond to all your babble. If i forget something srry.
First, No ive never sold credits that i make. Im one of the many that doesnt like to kill things for no reason, for no reward or for stuff that is worthless and has little or no use. It sounds like you are content with getting crap,,thats fine. Put it all in your house so you can look at it all day long. Ill say again what i think is wrong.
Nightsisters: ELDERS. i used to love killing elders. No premium crystals nor Attachments or modded clothing drop from ELDERS. Elders were never adjusted lootwise. They decreased the level of the creature but never adjusted the loot. This is a fact. Maybe you dont care, but most do.
NS weapons you mentioned,,,please post a pic of one that was looted post-CU that is worth using. If you cant use it whats the point. You even mentioned a collector would want,,,I assume this is a joke.
Krayts: You are right about the good pearls,,,prem pearls merely give you a better chance of a good tune. Not sure if you understand how bad your chances of a perfect tune are with a good pearl. Right now they expect Jedi to camp krayts for several months to get a tune that is decent. I know people that do exactly this and the best tune ive ever heard of from a good pearl is 110mx -9,,,which is amazing in my book. If you ever hear of a perfect tune let me know. Id love to hear about it.
The fact of the matter is that krayt loots were never adjusted to the level of the creature after CU. Just as Elders..Look at recent comments from tiggsif you doubt this.
Geo Cave:
Acklay bones you say are still useful and are good decoration...lol.First acklay bones can be useful if they are over a certain damage. But,,,anything under 110mx or so (ive been told) simply isnt worth using. The reason is that using the acklay bone makes a very high SAC. So unless the acklay bone is very high in damage, it simply isnt worth using. Acklay bones are looting just as they always have and have not been adjusted post CU. They need to adjust the stats on the bones to take into account what i said above.
Yes there are red cubes, You need uber ones for them to be worth looting.
Kwi and Klinick---You called these drops INCREDIBLE FOOD...lol i almost fell out of my chair laughing at this one. Go buy some booster blue,,,its the same thing except you get an extra 10percent heath regen,,,,,whoop de do.
Geo Weapons was your last comment---these are all crap since CU,,,please post a pic of one looted post CU that is worth using.
The fact of the matter is that Loot simply hasnt been adjusted to the level of creaturethey way it should. Right now the only place in Game to get good (over +10) attachments is BH missions. Acklay, elders and krayts simply are not fun anymore (ill admit krayts more fun than the other two because still get tissues).
I give you props for being the first to defend the loot in this thread, but obviously people dissagree with you. The reward has to match the creature and most dont want to loot crap. If we were all satisfied with looting crap all day,,,,everyone would just camp outside coronet and kill meatlumps.
High-end Loot is Fun,,,it has always been fun and I fear those days are coming to an end.
Perhaps you just misunderstood some of my statements:
Do you try to get loot for your own personal use, or do you get loot for the purpose of selling it?
Any weapon a collector does not have, and is interested in, is a worthwhile weapon. If you don't collect, then you have no interest.
As far as USING weapons go, I know many are not good, but I collect them for my own reasons, the only weapons I use are 2H weapons (NK Executor / Power Hammer) and a lightsaber (iffy, since my Jedi is a swordsman hybrid). So I don't collect weapons to USE them.
Kwi/Klicknik--I have booster blue, neutron pixie, and muon gold in crates, they all have similar stats, but -10% in regen on one of the 3 regen stats, the kwi adrenal glands which I still have are the same as the above spices, only no -% regen, all +10%.

Rewards and loot are different things, there are many high-end rewards for doing quests, and these are quite valuable (and useful concerning weapons).
Again, I neither sell loot nor normally make use of loot directly as almost evertything I use is crafted or a quest reward. I merely collect loot and display it. I am also a fan of the EU (expanded universe), and I do found it quite entertaining to work for such characters as Hal Horn, Corran Horn, Zekka Thyne, Captain Pellaeon, Thrawn, Fixer, Thraken Sal-Solo, Dala Solo, Garm Bel Iblis, Tallon Karrde, and many other EU characters.
I play this game primarilyfor the sheer experience of it. Interacting with the creatures and NPCs that, before this game, were only on film or paper.
Bryced wrote:
Dont take offense but you sound like such a Bozo. You "play the game for the sheer experience of it".LOL. If that were true why loot anything at all. Just kill and move on,,there is your experience.
Some of us try and improve our Characters in the game or try to obtain rare items (jetpacks). Attachments, pearls and other loot is the only way to do that.
You may be content with sitting back and "experiencing" the game. The rest of us find value in improving our characters and collecting fun stuff to barter or sell.
Lastly, Why in the world are you trolling the Loot threads when you obviously dont care about loot?

Some of this is the making of the players. Sure, the devs could make more interesting content but, the community has taken every opportunity to piss on what is added. Any where there is a place to predicitably loot something of value there will be AFK farmer. Anytime there is an equpment advantage to be had over other players it will be used to grief or bottom feed.
We are even in too much of a rush to actually play the earlier stages of the game. Most players grind past the low levels of the game the fastest mostefficient way possible then whine that the content is too easy once they are CL80. Many of the have outright skipped the stages AFK.
Alot of the changes have made the game less about lootwhoring and bragging and more about being able to make the necessary ingredients for a specific character readily accesable. If you take the time to develop a character and use the tools available SWG can be a great platform for interactive immersion. This what sets SWG apart and , frankly, other games are better at being video games that provide competition mostly on a combat basis.
I came to the game because it nurtured RP and world building as well as broad selection of playstyles. In my view, the game should not be more about loot and abilities than it about characters and story. Certainly, thedevs could give us better content to follow but, making your own stories with the tools provided almost always makes for a better experience in any game more than linear plots.
