No I dont agree with petition to make this craftable.

We have live musicians to entertain us - please if you care about your fellow players at all - please do not make this a craftable item. They depend upon your support - and support includes you wanting to see them perform - please do not get this craftable if you do - it could mean the extinction of a very valuable profession.

Hugs to the musicians out there - I won't ever rent one of these not even 1 time to see how it is.

We don't just heal your bf! Please let us have morein thisgame than just being your support slaves and having to compete with your buffbots! Let Musicians make the music in this game!

Musicians already craft. We make our instruments. Unfortunately, that's not exactly a viable income option as our potential customers areother musicians & the occasional players who want a nalargon in their homes.I would support Musicians playing a primary role in creation of a jukebox.

The devs approved the following statement from the Musician Correspondent (Aleyo):

Alrighty - here's my approved message that sums up what's been going on behind the scenes:

I've presented your feedback to the devs, and after consideration, they have decided to bring the jukebox live as-is for the time being. However, along with other Player Event Perks, they like the idea of creating a more permanent, craftable version of the jukebox at some time that would be integrated with the Musician profession. When such a craftable version should come to fruition, they would remove the current version of the jukebox from the Player Event Perk system. The devs are open to suggestions on how best to integrate a craftable version of the jukebox with Musicians and other professions.

I am all for live bands for player events, BUT I would like to have a jukebox in my shop to play songs for my shoppers, I would like to add one to my house when I am making parts so its seens less then a boring grind or just when I have a few friends at the house play a little music for them.

Heck make it so that musicians can craft them and sell them, have them add the songs in. There can be other using besides player event for the jukeboxes and those are the reasons why we would like them craftable.

I would rather seen live bands for player events then using the jukebox but for me I just want to add a little bit of music where I cant find it at.

Esharra is right - entertainers are not just BF and Buff Bots - we do shows - activities - other live performances. I buff alot - but I don't consider it my primary purpose for being in this game. Nor did I consider my primary focus being buffing when I was a doctor - I was out in the field, I healed wounds in city hospitals, that type of thing. I typically only buffed my guildmates or buffed at group hunting parties.

Entertainers are not just there for our BF and our Buffs. They are there for entertainment also. If and I say If loosely if they make it so that the musician is involved with the jukebox that might work - maybe like a droid playback type thing or something else.

How would player crafted juke boxes kill musicians? Jukeboxes do not heal BF. - ughhhh

Jukeboxes were implemented with complete disregard for an entire profession. You do not seem to realize the effect they are having on an entire playerbase. Musicians have been fighting for more music, more real SW music since launch. The jukebox covers this plea they have been making and so much more. The music is high quality and at very least is "new" to the game. No thought was given to the ramifications for an entire 106 skill point profession many have chosen.

To make the jukebox a permanent craftable item, this petition would need to be changedso that musicians can have some involvement in it. Musicians are NOT crafters, they are artists. You are trying to change them into crafters and this is as unacceptable to many as the entire jukebox itself is. A suggestion was given to allow the jukebox to play dics that are musician quest items, then recorded by musicians and sold to consumers of jukeboxes. This in some way satisfies the need for musicians to be involved and without making them crafting slaves.

As for making them less expensive and last longer? How much is a musicians time spent learning his/her art, months spent gaining the necessary XP, and building player customer bases worth?? 25000 for 8 hours does not begin to cover this "cost" so many are losing now because of it.

NO! i will not sign and I will not use a jukebox

OK, I just put the jukebox in my shop and tried it out...I usually dont go for this sort of thing but this thing ROCKS. No pun intended.
There is a great selection of Star Wars music on them and they look good.
They make my shop even feel better, two customers came in and INSTANTLY started asking how I was playing the Star Wars Main Theme.
This thing only last 8 hours!?!?!??!?!
I say make it a permanent loot crafted item

*smacks head* I never saw a jukebox in the movies...?
Don't destroy the my star wars experience

Sure, i'm pro music-in-houses but not jukeboxes, put an option in the house control panel and add a few credits extra maintenance?

And i'd like to have the song that plays in a guild hall in Mos Eisley (north of the Cantina) in the room with the merchant trainer (the music that plays in Jabba's palace in the movie)

Do you know how long one could go on about stuff I didnt see in the movie that is in this game.

Nightsisters, not in movie

Jedi running all around a city (in this time frame)...not in movie

macros...not in movie

afk looting...not in movie (lol never saw or heard of lord nyax in movie)

I never saw a crafting station, a droid that let you give buffs outside a hospital, WAIT, I dont remember anyone ever getting buffs.

I never saw the PLANET rori, talus, dantooine (mentioned), LOK, never saw em in the movie!

I dont recall ever seeing a armorsmith, weaponsmith, architect, chef, TK....

Think we should get rid of all this too?

I think walking in a shop and having STAR WARS music play, would only add to the Star Wars experience.

I doubt groups are going to congregate around a jukebox, or they would be doing it now for 8 hours at a time. Seems to me you cries of killing a profession are way way out there, sorta like people that cried that anti-decay kits were going to ruin their business.

ok I think I understand that you want the music but if not a jukebox, what a radio playing the music would that be better?...its kinda the same thing jukebox or radio its an object that would be playing the songs.

People would like to add music where they couldnt at all, when I place a jukebox in my shop, it gave a feeling to it that was there.

If I was in my house alone grinding away it would be nice to hear something while doing it.

I dont understand why this would be bad IF is not going to be use for player event BUT to add a bit of effect to a shop or house.

The idea of a permanent, Architect-craftable juke box is very appealing to me. There are situations where there is a desire for background/ambiance music is there but the feasability and realism of hiring a live entertainer for the job isn't. A merchant's shop with music in the background to make the place inviting, a romantic dinner for two at a private residence, a radio to turn on while crafting or "cleaning" house. In reality you don't see live musicians playing in every store at the mall, you don't hire a quartet to play at your romantic anniversary dinner at home (unless you have waaaay too much money), and you don't bring a rock band to the office.

At the same time....the music you would have in these situations would have been recorded by real artists, who got paid for making those recordings.

There have been several excellent suggestions for craftable juke boxes in the Musician forum and this thread as well. Musicians should not have to actually craft a disk (as someone said, there are techs for that; the musician just plays the music), but rather record one. Along the lines of holoemotes, they are things that don't require resources and a crafting tool. Maybe an Artisan makes a disk that a Musician then records on, but the actual Musician shouldn't be the one doing the crafting. Musicians are artists, not crafters.

The idea of having disks as a reward for entertainer missions has promise, but I don't think it would be good to have them become a quest reward thing only. Let some of the larger, orchestral pieces or some of the vocal tracks be quest rewards (of varying degrees of rareness, perhaps, but not uber-rare), but they would come out as a sub-component the way the recorded Musician tracks are. Taking a cue from the reverse engineering process, have these disks spawn at the completion of entertainer missions. These should not replace Musician disks, rather provide select pieces that could not realistically be created in the normal circumstances (meaning limited instruments, vocals, etc.) of the current Musician music.

Finally, as much of these music tracks that could be given to Musicians for live play should. They may sound different than what comes out of the juke box (since those use the soundtrack clips of John Williams music), but the tunes should be there. Live performances *always* sound different than recordings. Recordings are polished and modified. Live music has a totally different sound. There's nothing wrong with those differences. Just as some people prefer the sound of live bands in RL, some people would much rather have a recorded CD.

SWG needs a permanent background music function. This shouldn't be at the expense of the Musician profession, nor does it need to be. There is a happy medium here somewhere.
