Kill stealing is an age old problem that has been around since the creation of the MMORPG, and no matter what system they put in they will not eliminate it compleatly. An EQII style system would definatlly limit it but it wouldn't compleatly faze it out. As long as you have people who get a high out of makeing other peoples game experinece a living hell... or that just dont care, you will always have some problems. Its a sad truth, but it is what it is.

lol love the childish antics of "cry more noob" lol you are my friend are the noob...how old are you? too funny...
lol first off if some of you played final fantasy and it looks like EQ 2 took it straight from Final Fantasy Online Not once did i have a problem with kill stealing the game was quite enjoyable in that aspect except the fact that the game itself was not fun after awhile....
but no once you are locked on a mob you cant go tap other mobs to get more...its yours...nobody can take it...
And NO THERE WAS NEVER A KILL STEAL problem it was solved by the system at hand.... You couldnt go aggro other mobs till you 1. killed the mob you have locked in...
2. die...
3. release the mob screaming for help from others.....
that is it...the game was flawless in its feature as i am sure EQ2 is having no problems with kill stealing....
Since EQ2 is an SOE game I see no reasons why they wouldnt Adopt it here... I can see it happening as in opposition to some of you pessimists...
but the shine does show on some of you as this would take away your ability to "kill steal" too bad....
i hope its changed...maybe this system wouldnt be needed as in teh older games where "game ettiquete" was actually followed as some of you New gamers dont follow....
LOL i am a noob huh I am still laughing... well if you think I am a noob....then what does it make you really? because i have been playing online games for a very long time not too mention tested and played different types... but you keep calling me noob if it makes you feel better about yourself... lol doesnt affect me one way or another... <shakes head and laughs>

Iukespacewalker is very childish but brings up a very good point with his last post. Then it all becomes who has the better /targer(insertMOBname) macro.

you must realize that "noob" is an expression used when no better word can be pullled out of a mental dictionary. variations on this made up word are "nub" "nublet" "n00b" and so on. YOU are the ones that make yourselves fool by using made up words, like a 3 year old child. Saying this made up word only makes you drop down to their level.
That being said, i have 2 points i need to make here.
1. What if you are the person who, with no malicious intent, have no medical skills(or the person is about to mind incap) kill the mob, and they become angry at you for saving their lives? does this count as a "KS"?
2. REAL kill stealing is a mere act of greed and a human fault. So, must the devs fix it, or is it more of a psychological repair needed?
I feel that this problem is FAR more complicated than we can possibly understand.
Oh Vos,
You seem ok in game, I never thought you would behave like THIS.

you need to read all the posts...there is a way to release the mob... just like in EQ2 and in FFXI you need help you release the mob for open attack thats the way the system works go play those games you will be quite impressed how well it works and how much fun you actually have then seeing rude people running around attacking your mobs or having the fear of it happening...
yes you are right it might negate the effect of aoe well maybe it will take you 2 days to level up rather then one now...its ok it can still be done quite fast...
as for china yes I think its a lot of fun...the beer here is not quite that good...but everything is fairly cheap... their wine here is not really wine its like a hard liquor... just a forewarning... have fun when you do go...
and only reason i used noob by the way was to show how stupid it sounds when it is used...i dont really use it i think this is actually maybe the second post i have ever used the word haha... but in anycase i used it the other time because i know it gets under his skin so i just let the word fly hehe..... but in anycase you are getting in too depth here to discuss pyschological problems in a online video game...we all should get our heads examined for being this old even playing video games but i have accepted the fact I will always find enjoyment like this so oh well....

I read the post and understand you can release it that is not my problem though. My problem is that what happens in this situation?
(Situation 1)
I walk into the woolamander palace (just an example) and get argoed by the 6 woolamanders in there. Now under our current rules I spin in circles and a few seconds they all dead. Under your rules I will have to target one woolamander while his friends attempt to eat me, after he is dead then I can attack the next one, this is unacceptable.
Now is Situation 2 you will see another problem
I want to kill the acklay so go fight my way down to his home and wait for him to get back from where ever he goes. Waiting. Waiting. An hour and a half go by and I am tired of seeing my macro going by. Then I see mister blue or purple dot show up and just as he gets in there the acklay spawns and he has a /targetacklay /(insert attack here) macro going and attacks it first. Now he gets to kill it and loot it even though I was there first, that is not very fare to me now is it.
Here are two possible solutions I think can work.
One. More spawns like the corvette where you get to go in alone. Instead of just a free for all in the acklay lair. When you get to that last door you get warped to an acklay lair that just has you in it. Now there is a problem with this since the acklay is on a timer I will always have the acklay there when I want to get some bones.
Two. Anyone that hits a creature has loot rights. Now it is not just a grab and run. You /loot (if it works lol) and "roll" to see what you get. I also /loot and "roll" to see what I get. And anyone else does the same. The Problem with this is, why go in a group then. We can kill a giant krayt with our group of ten people and loot once, or ungroup and each get a loot.
The bottom line is no matter what the system is someone will not be happy, i learned the faster you adapt to how it is and find a way around it the better. If you want a looter friendly place go to Valcyn. every time I am down about to kill the acklay and others come we all group and split the loot. Only once have I not gotten in the group and this was cause it was a guild down there with about 10 people and they did not want to split with a non guildie (which is fine).
Oh and I wont be going to China, I left that life behind a while ago

lol you must be a teenager...i am currently working in china...
the only person i see is you being a noob since you obviously lack the brain power to adjust to ideas...
no he doesnt have a point...if he is camping it for an hour i cant see how he wouldnt get on it first...kind of funny how the tables would be turned for somebody who CAMPS a mob....
maybe you just gave a GREAT reason for this to happen for somebody who sits down in one place all day camping mobs who shouldnt and give all the other subscribers of this game a chance....
just so you can reach deep into your pockets for credits or continue to make weapons so you can continue your childish antics of "kill stealing" grow up....
i still laugh....
guess truth hurts huh...

I guess cause valcyn does not have a huge amount of people I have not had a TON of loot stealing probs. Only once (see post above) since thenew krayt spawn have I been KSed out there. And I have not realy had a problem with it other than that. I know that it does happen and is a problem but what you suggest is not the answer. So you say I can attack some thing and lock it in and no one else can attack it, but I can only attack one thing at a time, well that negates all my aoe attacks then dont it? Also how is China? I was supposed to take a trip there but got side tracked by a stupid war.

Do it EQ2 style, or make the dungeons instanced, or make the rare static npcs like acklay and nyax spawn in a random area of the dungeon.
Problem solved.
