I am constantly asked to do just stat migrations. Usually I get some RP time and talk in there, so it works out mildly all right. Usually even when someone says they don't want anything else changed, they don't mind me fiddling around with their look -- I get a lot of mohawk laughs -- so long as I put it back to the way they came to me when they're done.

But sure, if someone comes to me for just a stat migration and there's a novice ID around, well heck, they can go to the novice if the novice is willing. I think it works out pretty well, now that it's better XP for a novice to do a stat migration. Plus a captive audience as a novice is a good time to schmooze your potential future clientele, even if you've only got a few hairstyles and some eye colors.

We will always be sad for the application of timers, I think largely because weknow what it's like to not have them. If we had started out with timers, we might have looked at it much like medical types do, and just moved on. Remember, even though our XP isn't always easy to get, we still only need relatively small numbers of XP compared to a medical type.

So thanks, devs, we'll give this a try and see how it works.

On a side note, these forums have gotten really sour lately. I know poor Kwee's got to bear the brunt of it and she can't really take a hiatus, but in coming back for a day or two (I'm easily distracted by shiny objects, but my attention's back here now) I've noticed a lot of the really coolregulars have become far more angry lately. That makes me awfully sad. I really liked these forums because people were being ID's to have fun, and people on these forums were here to be mature and sociable. Tonight I came back and on the first page found three topics that appeared to be about something other than complaining. Sure some of that's from visitors, but some of it's from people I used to love reading. Come on, guys, I know you have it in you to be fun people -- if this stuff makes you mad, if reading the forums only leads to you being unhappy and growling, then take a break from them. Unhappy ID's lead to unhappy forums lead to unhappy ID's lead to unhappy forums lead to unhappy ID's .... And of course somewhere in there there's an unhappy Kwee because she has to keep close tabs on the unhappy forums too.

It's impossable not to see how sour this forum has gotten, but I feel it's notbecause ofKwee or the poster (new or old) We HAD a lot of fun playing with ideas fine tuneing them and coming up with fixs to make ID better. But then 8.1 hit us and it was a nice gift and a cold slap in the face. After 8.1 hit it seems pointless to do what we injoyed so much, we still do it but I for one know my heart is not in it like it use to be. Thanks to the devs *rolleyes*

I hope the good time here return, but I fear it will stay a weak impression until there is a dev change in mindset.

Voor hit it right on the head. 8.1 did what we most feared and totally changed the focus of our profession from fun and aesthetics to "critical function." Worse still, it gated all future/hopeful MIDs from being able to reasonably achieve mastery. So we're left, an already small community, with little to no hope of growing in size, and beset at all sides by players angry that they can no longer migrate their own stats. We've been thrust into a corner by Runesabre, and now that we're there we feel no choice but to defend ourselves against those "attacking" us—be it for pricing or simply the fact that we have the abilities at all.

I hope that some higher up in SOE is taking notice of the changes being made to this game and the forums—not just this one—and I hope that some steps are taken to see that problems like this don't happen again. I no longer hold out hope that SWG will be fixed; it has been made quite clear that the leadership of the development team for this title is inept, and the damage they've done is too great to be rectified. With luck LucasArts won't scrap the whole project, but will instead go with a better development company for their next title.

I may be good at the wittily-disguised barb, but sheesh! *wince*

At the point it is at now, it can still be fixed. That won't happen while the "Powers that be" retain thier "I know best" mind set however. In some cases, listening absolutly to the playerbase has destroyed a game, but I honestly believe that some people who are making decisions about this game are having trouble seeing around their egos.

When you are closing shop on SWG, remember that you ignored the REAL community to cater to an alpha class that assured this game would never be "balanced."

In order for there to be a fix to this glorified chatroom they call a game (and if you've seen some of the newer changes on TC you'd understand why I say that) there would need to be a near-total overhaul of all game systems—which they're preparing to do. The problem is that they have no idea how the game is played; only how they want it to be played. These are not the same thing, nor is their vision for the game proving to be fun at all. With every patch comes more and newer timesinks, and to be honest SWG is fast turning into the MMORPG version of Daikatana—a revolutionary idea, and a game that held so much promise, but due to sheer ineptitude and poor design decisions it's torturous to play.

Could SWG be saved? Maybe. But it would require the devs and the community to work together towards a fix, and the devs have said loud and clear that they do not value our input, concerns, or opinions. They have lost my trust, and they have lost the trust of many, many other players. There is nothing they can do to fix that short of voluntarilly resigning and allowing a new team with better skills at communication—both internal and external—to take up the reigns. That's right, I have 0 faith in Thunderheart, JustG, or Runesabre. I think that the only thing they can do is make this game that much worse.

Wait, lemme see if I understand this right...

Image Designers' TENTS get new music, yet we've been stuck with the same old same old, and ignored regarding this very subject, for so long?

I mean, I'm happy you guys are getting new content. At least someone is. But please understand, this exasperated me to no end when I read this:

Image Designer tentshave had new special music composed for them. Thiswas delivered to me last Friday and should be in place sometime this week. There are three separate tracks, each specialized to fit the mood of the decor of each of the three tent themes.

This is just not right. Why not give the new music to musicians to play, so we could perform in the tent? Why not let Musicians record the new music and sell it to ID's on disks, so they could play it in their tents. In short, why is a TENT getting content that a PLAYERBASE should get.

Can't wait until a Locked Container gains the ability to change hair color.

Ugh!

I just don't know what to tell you... Kwee says they are listening to us, but so far they are just making her out to look like a liar.

And before someone jumps at me for that statment, no I AM NOT saying that Kwee is lieing. I am saying that the Devs seem to be telling her something nearly nothing, and telling us absolutly nothing, and then doing something else that does nothing to address our issues.

I am getting quite moody about the whole thing, really.

"Moody" is one way to put it Quit ignoring us, Devs...I love the way none of them have the guts to ever respond to anything like this. C'mon, Runesabre (or any other Dev) reply to this and give us just one good reason why we should trust you, your judgment and the design decisions you're making right now, because you've set no example of good judgment or design decision making. Sorry, maybe I'm asking too much? Probably I shouldn't expect anything until "after JTL"?

And I feel so sorry for Kwee, because she probably feels just the same as us, only thanks to her position she has to use diplomacy and doesn't have the opportunity to make posts like this and she even seems to get tarred with the Dev brush by people that don't get that she had no real power and suffers just like that, only she can't vocalise it. Cornered from all sides.

I feel your pain

I follow the ID forums because my alt is (hopelessly) trying to get to ID 4 in Novice Entertainer, so he can play a Mandoviol and we can be a little band together (with 2 playback droids at our disposal :smileyhappy

I really like what ID used to be, but with the current xp gain being horrendously slow, and mandatory timers sucking all the fun out of doing it, it's making this whole experience miserable. Considering that a new player to the game would be encountering this, and I've been playing for awhile, well - I can't imagine anyone would be interested in the ID profession given it's current state. There's little satisfaction, and a lot of frustration.

I read how you guys get stuff slapped onto your profession, on the whim of Devs, as if it's some grand new thing that all will enjoy. When really, it's an unwelcome and unfortunate addition to your play style. That's pretty sad. I'm sorry, you guys.

On the other hand, at least you've gotten *something* in the past 6 months. At least you know you're money is going to some kind of development of your profession. As for us Musicians, we're avoided like the plague and slapped in the face with changes like giving a TENT 3 new songs, but we get ignored.

Don't get me started about how Musician buffs are easily thieved, and how our question on the last "19 questions" was totally misinterpreted, so instead of getting a means of proving we buffed a mind secondary (no, we can't see those at all - free buffs if you want them, we can't prove you got them) we get told how our CUSTOMER can tell if they're buffed. Ugh, so insulting. OK, I'll shut up about that - that's for our forum, sorry.

I would gladly pay for a year subscription to another two accounts if it meant that all of the ID changes instituted in 8.1 were rolled back. I would rather that I had put the money I spend on my current two accounts in the toilet and flushed repeatedly than have it used to finance the farce that they visited upon us in the name of enhancements. Basically, be glad that they're ignoring you—just look at the general concensus when it comes to their "fixes," revamps, and "ehancements." The longer they ignore you, the better off you are. Because knowing them, if you'd gotten those 3 songs you'd have to drop musician and pick up TKA to get through the theme park that rewarded the sheet music for them.

(By the way, citing a new addition—playback droids—with a smiley and then claiming not to have had anything developed for your profession within the last six month might not be the best way to get your point across )

Point well taken, I'm going to just shut up and leave this forum. The last thing I want is for our buffs to get further screwed up.
