But allow me to direct you to Metis_Onea's post on the first page of the thread where she's asked for buffs, too.

Hmm.... I have an experience to add to this list that is from the customer's point of view. I recently made a new character, Lyanna, on my server (yes, I have three accounts, sue me!). She's a Zabrak female with a very distinctive look. Her whole background is that she's a member of an all-female Zabraki clan who are essentially a cross between doctors and nuns. So she wears all white, has very pale blonde hair, blue eyes, blue tattoo, and just looks very innocent... always talks to people with utter politeness (yes, I know, it's a stretch for me to do that, which is partly why I am!) Well, I went to the ID tent right after I made her, looking for a hairstyle change. I knew exactly which one it was... it is (I think) the next to last one, the long style with the front and sides drawn away from the face, with minimal horns around the front of the face. I go in the tent, and there are three people in there, none of which have an ID title on. So I ask, "is anyone an ID?" and one of them - who is wearing a master weaponsmith title - says "I am, but there's a line ahead of you." I say "okay, but if they're all getting stat migrations, I'll just get it done later." Well, he asks the next guy if I can slip ahead of him. The guy says sure, I'll go heal my BF next door. So he groups me, pulls up the ID window, and asks me what I'm looking for. I tell him it's one of the horn/hair combos, and describe it to him in detail. So he just starts clicking on random styles... showing me ones that are only horns. I say no, it has hair with it. He shows me another horn only pattern. I say NO, IT HAS HAIR. So then he gets to the hair. I quickly get the picture that he's just showing me every single style. So I grit my teeth and wait. He finally gets to one that is nearly identical to what I want... but it's the one that makes the Zabrak look bald on top. It's ugly. So I say "this is really close to the one I want, but without the bald spot." And he gives me back my original ponytail. Then he says in group chat "plz accept." I say "uhm... you didn't change anything..." at which point he cancels the session and boots me out of the group.
I was VERY amazed at his rudeness, and didn't really understand why I was getting so much attitude from him. I hadn't told anyone who my other character was... I'm a well-known figure in that tent, he would have known the name. Fortunately, at that point I see a MID zoom by that I know and respect, so I send her a quick tell asking her if she had time to do a quick hairstyle change. One button click later, she was 10k richer and I had my hairstyle.
Moral of the story: BE NICE TO YOUR CUSTOMERS! And, Image Designers do not good customers make. LOL
Hey you secksey thang you!!
Anytime, and I do mean ANYTIME you need ID work done message me!!!
And on another note,I went to the "bank" the other night!!
I almost peed myself laughing
My pet peeves are:
1) When I throw my "Plastic Surgeon" title up and people ask me to heal their wounds..DOH!!!
2)Forgetting I have my Title up in a Solo Hunting group on Dant and having guys in the group BEG me for Stat migrations!! ( will pay you well,I can't find another Image Designer anywhere etc) I usually tell them "look hun,I am killing Jantas atm,I really need to bash somethings head in!" that shuts them up REALLY fast! *giggles*
3)*holes that cuss me out for asking fair market price for ID work.
and last but not least) Someone finding me and asking me to meet them somewhere for a session,so I drop what I am doing and head out to meet them.I get there and show them all possible styles etc..only to have them tell me "nahhh I think I like the way I look now" Merciful heavens that makes me SOOOOOOOOOOOOO mad!!!

Just for clarification, by 'bank' Orchid is referring to my city's med center. It's titled "Gat City's *other* Bank" and is very, very clearly designed to represent a sperm bank. The front room is typical med center - beds, vials of wound packs, etc. - but the back room is divided into separate stalls, and the bookcases which divide them are things like "Jawas are JUST the right height, episode 6" and "Hot Nightsister Orgies - the Imperial Prison edition". Add to that the random "spycams" scattered around the room, and the various paraphernalia, and... well, it's hilarious, to say the least.
My pet peeves are:
1) When I throw my "Plastic Surgeon" title up and people ask me to heal their wounds..DOH!!!
I HATE this! I can't wear my Plastic Surgeon title - which is my favorite title, BTW - because I get a million tells asking for buffs. *sigh*
*giggles*
I try to be really careful about my title, but sometimes I'll forget it too. What I also love is someone who's gotten my name from another client, and thinks that I will immediately drop whatever it is I'm doing and go to wherever they are to work on them.
3)*holes that cuss me out for asking fair market price for ID work.

I agree, this is a pain. I wish there were some way to insist on payment for time spent and travel expenses.
I'll make sure and look you up if I need any more work done! I made C'erulean (aka Drygo) change my looka little... boy, am I a difficult ID customer. LOL But he got THREE whole credits for his effort!

I felt like joining in.. griping seems to come with the job...
There's no specific phrase they say, but I hate it when I'm done doing ID work for the evening, and people insist on asking me for work done. I'll turn my tag off, and be finishing my last customer, when inevitably someone comes asking for help. I'll explain that I'm tired of living in the tent, and want to go and have some fun for the night, which of course is always followed by:
"Can u just stat migr me real quik?"
...There's no way it'll be "real quik". It will be ten minutes, as always, which is the reason I'm closed for the evening.
"But I can't find any other IDs"
...Later they'll mention they looked "all over", and they've apparently searched every corner of the galaxy EXCEPT Theed or
Coronet (I work out of Bestine many nights). Atwhich point I tell them to search there, and they reply "I don't have the money to
go travelling all over". If you haven't the money for a flippin' ticket, then you most certainly aren't getting a stat migration.
or, of course, "I'll pay u"
...And we all hate this one.
This just irks me because if a doctor (or entertainer) isn't buffing, or a crafter crafting, no one seems to give them any flak. But if I want a night off, I'm ruining someone's day. This actually all happened last night in the form of five people, as I was trying to help a novice entertainer get her ID skills up by playing dummy. Despite telling them I'm not doing any work that night, they just couldn't wait another day, so they'll just keep bothering the two of us until I cave, because, hey, it's not like I have anything better to do, like spend a quiet night alone with a friend, right? Eventually I took care of them just to get them away, and the two of us fled into the middle of the desert just to get away.
... In case you can't tell, I'm still ornery.

Interesting post. I know I'll try hard to avoid doing any of these things next time I decide to visit an Image Designer--although I still think you can't fault people for not knowing exactly how they would like to look, or even for not knowing you can't do certain things. The trouble is, unless you are an image designer, you probably have no idea of what is possible or what combinations might look good, especially if you are new to the game. The best ID's I've met are the ones who are patient, and willing to help "walk"someone through the process of finding out what works for them by asking simple, obvious questions such as whetherI want to change hair, skin, shape, then down from there, perhaps even "suggesting" certain looks if I still seemed unsure.I know, it would be easier on you ifeveryone came in and said "I want to be bald," but sometimes, people just want something changed and they really don't know what until you suggest a few things. I'd hope that most image desigerns find that part of the process fun and enjoyable as the role play of being an image "designer".
Perhaps some of you find the customers who ask for things they can't have irritating because you're feeling a bit underappreciated as image designersin general. I've seen a few posts that state something to the effect that the players who treat you rudely would never do this to other professions, such as doctors.
SoI felt I ought to let you know this isn't the case. The rudest people in the galaxydont' respect anyone. If you read the doctor boards, you will see several doctors who complain that they can't wear the titles any more because of all the people who will demand buffs. I've had people sayalmost the exact same things to me just substitute "stat migrate" for buff, including the classic, "buff plz?" followed by "I'll pay" when I say I'd rather not. I've had people yell in spatial that I'm not doing my job when I refuse, especially when I tell them I CANNOT buff (or heal wounds for) them even if I wanted to do so (such as deep inside the geo lab, or b/c they're overt of the opposite faction). I read one story where a doctor was city banned for not responding (they were afk waiting for a shuttle) when a milita member asked for buffs. Yes, more players probably rely on doctor buffs more than they do image design services, so perhaps they do value knowing (and using) doctors more than Image Designers, but the type of player who would be rude to an ID is probably likely to be rude to a doctor too.
Sadly, there are players who push to have every service in the game turned into a product (or supplied by a clever macro alt), because the concept of behaving in a civilized way and being polite to people is beyond them, beneath them or just bothers them. They play this game to "pwn" and "lewt" and be "uber". They are not interested in playing nicely with other players--and so unfortunately, those of us who are will have to suffer their aquaintence every so often. Just don't let these players overshadow the fun you can have meeting all the other players, though I suppose it is sort of fun to have a horror story or two to share. I know I enjoy reading them sometimes--which is why I found myself reading this thread even though I don't plan to try image design anytime soon.

You're very right, the Doctors I know tell me that they want to stick their pistol in their mouths and pull the trigger every time they've been to Coronet. On Infinity, decent avian meat recently was in very short supply, which led to a shortage of buffs - it was not a pretty picture. But, you've got to understand, it's all quite new to us, having to do the stat migrations.
On the topic of not knowing what you want, I don't think that's exactly what people are objecting to. You suggest asking people if they want their hair, their eyes, their nose, their weight et cetera changed. What do you do when someone answers all of those questions with I don't know. I am very willing to guide people through Image Designing, I have no issue with showing them all hair styles so they can pick the one they like, but at some point you need some feedback from the client that you can work with. Some people just say nothing. Others keep saying the same thing. Can you make my tattoo and hair colour the same. Yes I just did. Yeah but can you make my tattoo and hair colour the same. Yes they are the same. Ok. Now, please make my tattoo and hair colour the same. And others make no sense at all.
For instance last night a Zabrak with a red tattoo came in. He wanted his tattoo changed but he didn't know what was possible, so I said that pretty much all colours were possible, then he said can you show me some yellows. So I did, he liked em, but he wasn't quite happy. He said: can you make it the colour between red and yellow. Ok, it's a European server, so not everyone knows the names of all colours in English, but as far as I know the colour between red and yellow is orange, no matter where you come from. I showed him the orange colours I had. No! I don't want that! Make it like the colour of fire. Apart from blue, which I don't think he had in mind, the colour of a flame is again... orange. So I showed him every orange and red and yellow I had. Finally he decided on the yellow, but still I don't know what colour he really wanted.

It's not just IDs that get this sort of ignorance. There's a global chat channel that most people on TC use for finding goods and services, offering them, or generally just shooting the breeze. A newer player to TC was asking on this channel if anyone knew where to get an E11 Carbine. Well, I had just spent two days scouring the entire galaxy, so I knew that there weren't any to be had at the moment (the most prolific weaponsmith was having connectivity issues and couldn't restock) so I offered her the custom DH17 Short Carbine I had made as a holdover for the E11.
I told her to meet me in Theed and I'd give her the weapon. She complained that a ticket to Theed from Skystone (a player city outside Mos Entha) was expensive and she couldn't afford it. "Well honey, if you can't afford the 800 credits to Theed, how did you think you were going to afford a 3000+ credit gun? Besides, I'm offering you a weapon I paid 3000 credits for not two days ago. It's already sliced, and slicers are hard to find with any regularity. And all you have to do is get to Theed." She complained that she thought we were helpful on TC…sure, we're helpful, but we're not stupid.
P.S. She did eventually make it to Theed, and I gave her the gun…but oy, that was like pulling teeth. Seriously, since when does 'helpful' mean give you what you want, when you want, how you want? To me 'helpful' is welcome you, tell you how to find goods and services, maybe offer a suggestion for a good way to make cash as a newbie (using the n00b-droid's rental vehicle to run survey missions is a great way to make a quick buck when you're just starting out.)

Personally I dislike a lot of things in contemporary (American-) English, you know like gonna, wanna, dunno although I must confess to like using them myself too you know, and, like my personal number one: the excessive, inappropriate use of the phrases so, like and you know, as in like So I was like, you know, like, you know, so not interested, and then she was like, you know, like... I like, totally hate that.
[snip]
Ooh. I got on my brother-in-law's sister's case like, you know, about the "like" thing Like, she's like several years my senior, and through an gnarly twist of fate like we both ended up attending the same university (at different times. Like, whenever like we would find outselves together at family gatherings she would like constantly do the "like" thing, and I must admit, it's far more prevalent in the area we like went to university in than it is in like either of our home towns. Like, gag me with a spoon! And it like totally, totally, totally annoys me Anyway... So I like finally asked her if she actually ever did anything, or if she only sort-of, kind-of, "like" did things. I can be a real **edit**.
P.S. Fuschia, I hope to god they were saying "ne way" or "neway," because "n e way" is totally actually one character more than the TOTALLY right spelling and I think I might liketotally have to cry if today's youth was like, you know, mondo geekmo enough to "shorten" a word to one character longer than it should be.
I usually talk like a big nerd, but occasionally if I'm chatting with my hubby or mom in law I'll fall into "I was like" and "whatever" and "as if". It's likejunk food

Well I have about had it with stupid people lol. I just mastered tailor recently and informed customers and guild mates that i wouldn't be doing id till i was completely stocked...(Yes this will take me a while but this was supposed to give me a slight break on iding) i finally mastered this week (not like my grind was all that long but haha i am not a patient person when it comes to grinding) My afk message is : I am not doing id this week please mail if you need something, I am working on my shop.....okay so i log in on Thursday and was about to hit the afk message when lo and behold a client sends a tell...and to boot this person is with me on voice and is in my guild....
Client: Hey sweetie what cha doing?
Me: Well about to start making clothes for my shop.
Why hon what's up? (now i see my mistake should never have asked what was up)
Client: Well I need a new look and need a stat migration too.should i meet you in coronet?
Me: Sugar i just got done telling everyone i am not doing id this week.
(Mind you just stated this for 5th time in one night on voice and had only been on for 15 minutes)
Client: Come on you know you have nothing better to do than to make me hot...
Me: Yes i do and you are already hot lol i ided you.
I am crafting tonight...
15 min lapse and i think okay i made him understand so i start making the components to run and put in the factory...
Client: Hey you meeting me here? or not?
Me: No i am not doing id tonight..i already made you look hot on sunday lol...
(Normally i don't talk this way with clients but he is a guildie and was on voice so i am giving him grief because i can)
Client: Yeah but i want to look awesome! And i really need a stat migration
Me: Okay listen i can't do this tonight i am trying so hard to get this stuff together so i can make everyone the clothes they want. is there anyone in the salon?
Client: yeah a beginner
Me: ask them because they need the xp
Client: But i want a master
10 minutes lapse bc i went afk to grab something
Client: Hey!!!!
Client:: ARE YOU COMING TO CORONET?
Client: WHAT ARE YOU DOING? COME AND FIX MY FACE WILL PAY YOU REALLY WELL
Client: PLEASE! PLEASE!
(Now i admit i could have already shuttled in to coronet by now and have been halfway through the stat migration but was trying to make a point.)
Instead of replying to him in tells i get on voice and pull him into another channel. Once again he starts giving me grief and i am laughing it off. I told him again no no id tonight...he finally gets the point and all seems to fine...but i was wrong!
about 30 mintues later he sends another tell...hey when can you do a stat migration for me? I know you aren't doing them tonight but i really need it done sometime soon...I told him will be about a week at least because i have to get stocked and stuff....he seems okay with that and then i get a mistell....from him...Yeah she says she isn't doing stat migration tonight or any id for a full week. can you believe it what good is it for her to be image designer if she isn't going to work and help us guildies.? and then of course the next tell is s#$t mt! so sorry you got that...i reply i am not an id puppet i don't come to your beck and call..and yeah i shouldnt' have gotten that but then again man you should have gotten the point...i am busy!!!
okay well it ended at that. strange thing is that i am having more problems with guildies about the entire thing than i am having with my regualr customers.
okay thank you for listening...
oh and another thing i hate to hear is hey got any new hair styles?
what about tattos for humans?
ugh no people we didnt' get that!
