Kwee, I know we will find this out when particle effects goes to the test server, but could you ask the devsif particle effects will change based on your /mood and/or /emotes?

/mood impatient off

I haven't heard that they will, so I'm guessing not.

Blah, this is just gonna add another step to my ID process which already is icky. I'm gonna have to now get someone to travel to Theed to meet me at the ID tent so I can do the changes to them (we all know that everyone will only want the new changes for a while and everyone and their mother will want to try them). Once they meet me, the regular ID process goes, hair change (after browsing all of them twice), lip change, weight change, bust change, new particle effect, then get stiffed with no tip.

So the only real change this will make to me is to pull me out of my existing shop, pull me out of my player city and make me pay money to travel to so I can get stiffed on a tip instead, and take up more of my time.

I hate to sound like a gisgruntled school girl, but excuse me, this is a waste. The way ID works currently, I am forced to ask for money in advance to ensure I don't get the client running away without tipping or paying (I prefer tip because sometimes I can get paidquite a bit, but the risk of that is a tip of 0). Now I'm gonna be forced to ask the person to meet me on another planet.

At least for me, I live on Naboo and can be in Theed within 5 minutes (new shuttle wait time). But at worst, you've just added 10 minuets fly time, 10 minutes going to and from the tent, waiting for the client to show up (they were prolly on Dantooine) and then hoping the ID camping the tent doesn't steal my client when they show up by offering them a cheaper service.

Just wait for it, IDs who ninjaloot clients!

If I was simply an ID this would work cos I would just camp the tent in Theed, but I'm a musician as well and play in my city cantina for my guild. Sheesh, ID AND musician, talk about two thankless professions. Thank God I gave up Politician and Merchant to do ID/Musician.

There won't be any more running away of clients without paying. Our new User Interface will have a secure pay system

I know that you probably can't answer this question, but will our new user interface work for all ID sessions, or only the ones in the tents? When you first mentioned the tents, somehow I got the feeling that our regular ID sessions were not going to change at all, but the ones in the tents would have a new interface which is close to the one we have during character creation.

I agree with Voor. Can you imagine an entire wedding party trekking off planet to a tent, only to find that maybe the terminals are all used, getting all the stuff done one by one, trekking back - but wait, the ID is stuck there waiting for stragglers who swear that they will only be a minute... and then by the time everyone gets back to the player city in question (on Rori, Lok, Dantooine, or Talus, add 20 minutes) things are already starting to wear off. I'm afraid if certain things are tied to the tent and are too much of a hassle they may not be used at all.

Woo-hoo..... partly

We really do need this to be a placeable building for ID's. It's all well and good giving us new stuff to play around with, but forcing us to play with the new stuff in a an NPC city and in a sparsly lit and furnished tent? Yeah, thsi has been said already but i thought i'd make my comment too.

Thanks Kwee for the update! I take it from your suprise in finding them on Test Center with Publish 8 contentthat the Devs did not inform you it had gone live there?

In any case will we see a similar post when the new ID content is placed in Test Center so some of us can log in and ensure things are working well? Perhaps even schedule a time for a few Master IDs to meet there and test? I know that often when the facial features are reset to zero by bugs in the exisiting Image Design the client may not even notice. It might be a good idea to get some full time designers with sharp eyes together to test out the new tools and find out if anything is hitting additional problems.

If this sounds appealing you can count me in. ^_^

I was expecting the tents to appear when they were fully functional, so in the mini publish. And yes we plan to get a testing party together on test when the mini publish gets pushed That's why we did all that leveling a couple of weeks ago

This looks excellent, as someone who's only just started on the ID path I'm certainly looking forward to trying out the new interface, and seeing just what we can do in the new tents. I'm sure the long-term people here are more than aware of some of the frustations with the current system I've been banging my head against over the last few weeks!

Also the tents will be a nice place to go if we are advertising our services and looking for potential clients, rather than the current system of wearing your tag and hoping people notice you/search for you and that you're not busy doing something else when they do try to contact (it really is annoying to suddenly start getting bombarded with ID tells when you're in the middle of a droid crafting session, and I'm not even well-known on the server yet!).

Possibly I am in the minority... but I am a bit scared by this. No, more than a bit scared by this. I do not want some new building I have to go to Image Design people, even if it is only for new things. It would be just another empty place to sit around in 99% of the time waiting for someone to show up at best, and at worst it would require potentially more travel to meet up with clients both for myself and them.

Let me repeat, I'm all for buildings so long as there isn't anything that we can do that we MUST do there. Please do not force me to run all over the place to ID someone who I meet while dancing, or whatever else I might be doing at the time. EVER.

As for how they look, they are OK on the exterior, but the interior as others have mentioned is far too sterile.

Corre hat off:

My thoughts

  1. We need these buildings as player city structures. Every single need that you have, whether fixing your car or being cloned, can at this moment be satisfied by a player city, with the exception of starports. Every other profession has an equivalent player city building: cantinas, medical centers, etc. We need to have an equivalent player city building: it's only fair and it's only practical. Depending on how "necessary" or even "beneficial" these tents end up being, it seems unfair to corral the ID'ers into anNPCcity to garner the benefits of these buildings, when no other class has that restriction. Particularly, those ID'ers who live on remote planets, such as Dantooine or Lok, will have a hard time using these buildings (I'm presuming there will be no ID tents in outposts). It seems unfair to encourage players to live on remote planets, and then add ina feature that is not available in player cities.
  2. The inside is ugly and not what we wanted. The number one thought about the ID building is the lighting must be good. The lighting in the tent is lousy. Maybe the interface will take care of that. Obviously, if it were a player building, we could add lights. In addition, the terminals are clinical and don't have the "salon" feel that many of us desire. They look like cloning terminals. We want chairs and couches. The devs should model these decorations on how we have chosen to decorate our own salons.

These were the only two points that came up for me and I 100% agree.
