Thread: Newsflash: ID Building (Tent) now on Test Center
I haven't heard that they will, so I'm guessing not.

If the (particle effect/party IDs) are limited to tent, then I fear we will be stuck at the tent instead of being at the party. Like a musicain can pull out his tools of his profession at a party, so should we be able too.
Kwee, I know we will find this out when particle effects goes to the test server, but could you ask the devsif particle effects will change based on your /mood and/or /emotes?
/mood impatient off

There won't be any more running away of clients without paying. Our new User Interface will have a secure pay system
I know that you probably can't answer this question, but will our new user interface work for all ID sessions, or only the ones in the tents? When you first mentioned the tents, somehow I got the feeling that our regular ID sessions were not going to change at all, but the ones in the tents would have a new interface which is close to the one we have during character creation.

I agree with Voor. Can you imagine an entire wedding party trekking off planet to a tent, only to find that maybe the terminals are all used, getting all the stuff done one by one, trekking back - but wait, the ID is stuck there waiting for stragglers who swear that they will only be a minute... and then by the time everyone gets back to the player city in question (on Rori, Lok, Dantooine, or Talus, add 20 minutes) things are already starting to wear off. I'm afraid if certain things are tied to the tent and are too much of a hassle they may not be used at all.
Woo-hoo..... partly ![]()
We really do need this to be a placeable building for ID's. It's all well and good giving us new stuff to play around with, but forcing us to play with the new stuff in a an NPC city and in a sparsly lit and furnished tent? Yeah, thsi has been said already but i thought i'd make my comment too.
Also the tents will be a nice place to go if we are advertising our services and looking for potential clients, rather than the current system of wearing your tag and hoping people notice you/search for you and that you're not busy doing something else when they do try to contact (it really is annoying to suddenly start getting bombarded with ID tells when you're in the middle of a droid crafting session, and I'm not even well-known on the server yet!).
Possibly I am in the minority... but I am a bit scared by this. No, more than a bit scared by this. I do not want some new building I have to go to Image Design people, even if it is only for new things. It would be just another empty place to sit around in 99% of the time waiting for someone to show up at best, and at worst it would require potentially more travel to meet up with clients both for myself and them.
Let me repeat, I'm all for buildings so long as there isn't anything that we can do that we MUST do there. Please do not force me to run all over the place to ID someone who I meet while dancing, or whatever else I might be doing at the time. EVER.
As for how they look, they are OK on the exterior, but the interior as others have mentioned is far too sterile.

My thoughts
- We need these buildings as player city structures. Every single need that you have, whether fixing your car or being cloned, can at this moment be satisfied by a player city, with the exception of starports. Every other profession has an equivalent player city building: cantinas, medical centers, etc. We need to have an equivalent player city building: it's only fair and it's only practical. Depending on how "necessary" or even "beneficial" these tents end up being, it seems unfair to corral the ID'ers into anNPCcity to garner the benefits of these buildings, when no other class has that restriction. Particularly, those ID'ers who live on remote planets, such as Dantooine or Lok, will have a hard time using these buildings (I'm presuming there will be no ID tents in outposts). It seems unfair to encourage players to live on remote planets, and then add ina feature that is not available in player cities.
- The inside is ugly and not what we wanted. The number one thought about the ID building is the lighting must be good. The lighting in the tent is lousy. Maybe the interface will take care of that. Obviously, if it were a player building, we could add lights. In addition, the terminals are clinical and don't have the "salon" feel that many of us desire. They look like cloning terminals. We want chairs and couches. The devs should model these decorations on how we have chosen to decorate our own salons.
These were the only two points that came up for me and I 100% agree.
