• Scars go across the board to everyone except wookiees. A good half-dozen scar patterns available ranging from very little scarring to heavy scarring.


• Human males get three body-hair patterns, ranging from a little to a lot.


• Zabraks get body tattoos, color drawn from their facial tattoo color. Several designs, varying coverage.


• Twi'leks and Mon Calamari get body markings in the same color as those on their head. Several designs, varying coverage.

I can't think of anything for Bothans or Rodians yet.

The idea here is that you can only have one texture map at a time. You can have scars or body hair. Given that each body gets a texture map anyway, this would be very easy to implement, and wouldn't have that much load on the client side. No new models to create, just textures, so it's not too much work for the art team.

What do you think?

4. black and white would be my preferred choice, but if you had to go for color then just the basics that stand out the most.

5. i don't care much for the size as long as it's visible when you zoom in.

I actually really like the idea of faction tattoos, it fits with the GCW and it has RP value, i'm all for it.

And Ninja007 i resent the fact that you call tattoos/piercings a "trendy fad" and please, Limp Bizkit, can you say "last year" not a flame but please don't tell me because i have tattoos and piercings i like Limp Bizkit and am just "following a fad, i've had mine for over 9 years now. As far as i know tattoos have been in SW before, not in the films, and i've not read any books, but Tavian from the Jedi Outcast/Jedi Academy games had facial and arm tattoos, and one of the swop gang leaders in KOTOR had eyebrow piercings.

These things fit into the story and give US the players something that defines us, if you don't like them don't get them (being a wookiee you may not have a choice in this), Zabraks keep their facial tattoos, and should be the only race to get total full body tattoos, but it's not too much to ask that humans get a few choices too..Twi'leks get lekku markings, Calamari get head markings..humas only have hair style/colour to distinguish themselves, and most of these look awful, bothans don't get much choice either, so some additional fur markings would be nice for them too.


As for what kind of tattoos, nothing cultural to RL, Japanese symbols are out, tribal symbols are fine - something similar to what Zabraks have currently, i would personally love my Female goth ID to have a rebel symbol on her upper back.

If we get one thing, then the faction tattoos get my vote.

A: Sounds like question no.1... Lower arms and Chest


3/ What types of designs would you most like to see? Can be specific or a category. Pick TWO.

A: Tribal and "Romantic" (didnt know what else to call it.. flowers, hearts etc)


4/ What about colors? Black and white only, limited palette, or very colorful palette?

A: All colors, no less! If not, then at least black, yellow, red, blue, green.


5/ Size? Huge tattoos versus small tattoos (though this would of course vary by location).

A: It shouldnt be too small. Depends of course on the style of the tattoo and the location as you said.
With the facial markins of Zabraks (very "lined up", zigzak) it should be broad. Hearts and other stuff should be small, but on a visible place.

6/ What do you think of the idea of having Imperial/Rebel tattoos that would have a GCW function?

A: I dont know what GCW means... Some magic holo-tattoo that secretly warps you to Vader's bedroom?

1) Allow tatooes to be anywhere you like. Like secret ones on the butt for special missions.

2) Calf, Back.

3)Imperial logo, Skull

4)Many diffrent types of colors so people have unique tatooes.

5) Any size you like again with the uniqueness.

6) Yah again with the secret tattooes for codes and stuff.

If you ever played SmackDown Shut your mouth for the PS2 use that tattoo system. Very easy to use and many unique looks.

Unless this is Orwell's 1984 where our tattoo is our credstick, how in the hell does a tatoo perform a function other than a decorative lampshade after you skin your enemy alive?

Think about it. If you're a rebel walking around Theed or some Imp aligned place with your Rebel tattoo visable, I say it should make you more noticable to npc imps, or give you a TEF when spotted by a member of the opposite factionwhich would increase you chances of having a fight with them, and vice versa.

Also not to hijack this post, has anyone thought about the idea of having scars implimented ingame? It would be like a tattoo, a badge of honor (or dishonor if you have a blaster mark on your back ), and I think it'll add a new element to this game.

Would never use it. I honestly don't see how it can have a function other than being decorative.

Tribal and Celtic tattoos aswell as some insignia tattoos like the Alderaan Eagle (Rebel), Jabbas Crest and so on, very elaborate designs like the Yakuza Dragons on the members backs (very nice for RPing space pirates)

TRibal and Celtic Designs are generally single color, but i'd like to see some that are very colorful (like the Yakuza design) as well

Both,i i love the idea of a full back tattoo, and i love the small celtic tattoo that many females have on the small of their back (very hot), the same with arms, some tattoos are just a small insignia, and others are elaborate designs that covers the whole arm

I like the idea of having factionbased tattoos, but i don't support that the may have an effect like TEF/Overt or bonuses to faction points

While a colourful palette would be nice, given the small size oftattoos on the screen (unless we have large torso tattoos or Yakuza-style full-body tattoos) and bearing in mind lag and bandwidth issues, a limited palette would probably be acceptable, but black and white would probably be too restrictive.

One possibility might be to have Imperial / Rebel tattoos that grant a small bonus to FPs (in a similar manner to the Chef food that grants a bonus to XP). Such a tattoo could last for a liited duration and be activated by the player when he wishes, in a manner similar to consuming the Chef XP-bonus food.

But as Image Designers, we love to be creative and give people interesting looks - one thing I get asked for time and time again is tattoos and they would add a whole new level of versatility to character customisation, which would be great.
And also, those who complain about customers generally have problems with Stat Migrations (because they involve no creativity like the rest of the profession) and sometimes tents/timers, because they limit where we can be creative and make us sit around for ages.
However, tattoos are a chance for more creativity, and sure we'd get some crappy customers who make ID a PITA, but that's the same for any new addition, new hairstyles included.
