Thread: What's going on Kwee?? ALL ID'ers please read :)
How about not only giving ID's the ability to change a Jedi's name, but also allow them to give a Smuggler a new Name/Alias to go by that can be broken by an Imperial scan team maybe. I guess I am trying to say some sort of false ID for Jedi's and Smugglers to hide form the Cops, so to speak. That would be some good imersion! ![]()
Also, for those that getmarried, how about allowing the ID's a way of permantly changing surnames of brides? IRL your name does not change automatically upon getting married, you have to fill out the papers and do the foot work. In game terms, the ID could be the person with the Legal right to change the name of the player by crafting some sort of device first or something. Also,I would suggestonly the ability to change the surname and not the given name. And if a divorce occurs, I would suggest the surname be reset automatically to prevent any further problems between players.
Just my two cents...
I guess you could say I'm a non ID person. I am an entertainer, so I have worked a bit with the ID stuff. First let me say I love ID'ers. No game have I played that allows avatars to be changed in any way after launch. Yes you can wear different clothes, but to be able to change pretty much every aspect of your avatar is one of the best things I've seen in a MMORPG.
As an entertainer doing ID, OMG boooooring! Yes I have had people ask me to change their hairstyles and a leku or two, but mostly if I want to advance I have to do the fast click thing. I hate grinding, so the number one thing I search for in a profession is a way to make the journey fun. My number one pet peve in this game are professions where you pretty much have to master half or more of a profession before its even useful. Lucky for me that is mostly a small minority of crafting professions. No person should have to grind anything in SWG. If a person wants to sit down and make 5000 items, that is his choice, but another person should be able to sell those 5000 items if they choose to advance that way.
As a customer I've never been to and ID. I love my Mon Caljust the way he is. He is just adorable. My human though, he could use somehelp with a new hairstyle.
One thing maybe ID's could do is allow you to keep your earned XP in some way. For instance, Ihave 300k pistol xp on my character, but he had to drop pistoleer and marksman in order to work on entertainer. As the system stands now, when I go back to marksman and train my first pistol box, the cap on pistol xp will kick in and set my exp from 300k down to 1k. I earned this xp I would certainly like to keep it. Maybe in some way by working with an ID, they could help me as I change the focus of my life.
Have a TEF and want to remove it, see an ID.
Overt and don't want to wait an hour to be covert, or commit suicide, see an ID.
Also, a neat mission that might be fun is to have an NPC give a player a mission that requires, at some point, them to visit an ID to make them appear to be of the opposite faction so that they can go clandestine in order to complete some task. This would be tricky since you don't want this to turn into something that enables players to start completing things they shouln't be able to complete, i.e. theme parks from the opposite faction.
• Disguise. I know there would be coding involved to create the "disguise" data structure for targeting, display etc, but it would be worth it.
- The higher your level, the more you can change (one column) and the longer it lasts (another column).
- By Master you can change not just appearance, but name and PA and faction.
- You can also disguise yourself.
- Like /maskscent, when a player comes into your range you roll against breaking their disguise. The higher level the disguise, the better the impostor's roll; but Smugglers and Jedi (and maybe MBH's) would also get a +mod for their roll. So a high level Smuggler would see through a low level disguise most of the time, but an ordinary Pistoleer or Merchant would be fooled. The highest level disguise would fool all but a high level Jedi nearly all the time.
* New ID (non-character creation) content
In reading Thunderheart’s posts about Imperial hats, I get the feeling that to get a blessing the change can’t be one-sided toward a species. So to meet their requirements I suggest one or two items for each species be done per publish. Not only would this be fair for all species but also give a IDers a steady customer base.

Fair enough, however I know several people ingame who dont use Image Designers for just this reason: they cannot stand the sheer amount of guesswork thats involved. It may be fun for you too be creative and come up with interesting looks, but if I want a specific hairstyle for a party, with a certain colour, its really not fun for me to sit there for an hour while an IDer shows me style after style until we hit the right one. Then theres the colour to do
If its less hassle for the customer, its better for you, because more people use your service and you make more money, and if people want you to be creative and come up with a look for you, they can ask.

Let me qualify the following by first stating that I am not an Image Designer, and therefore am not speaking from their point of view, but from those of us on the outside looking in, so to speak.
1) Give ID's the ability to"alter" aplayer's appearance so as to make themmore likable by one faction or another (temporary, of course, probably along the same timeline as buffs). I think the way in which this would be a "critical" function should be fairly obvious.
2) I, personally, don't see how this would upset the community balance, and think it would do well to enhance both the game and the ID class. The fact that these specialized alterations would be temporary (timeframe debatable) would keep it from being TOO much more desirable than going out and doing the work to get "real" positive faction, but perfect for those brief "one-time" instances where you absolutely have to have positive faction with one (or one group) of NPC's just long enough to get a conversation done, but don't want to have to spend an entire day "factioning up" just for that one encounter.
Comments?
let them craft temporary makeups and dyes. give the makeups and dyes entertainer skill bonus effects.

ID craftables was talk about not to long ago, most IDer don't want tofull crafting like artisans. if any it should be something smallmore ofan way to advertise their business. not a functional thing
ForExample:
All items should be temporary and have 12-20 uses (bonus uses base on quality of one of theresouces)
