just a thought from an outsider...
give image designers the ability to change your Name, Title (novice brawler), and Faction apperance (blue dot / purple dot). probably just for a limited time, 2-3 hours
ID's will now be the best friends of, Spys, Jedi, people with player bounties on there heads (yes it happens), jedi, and did i mention jedi?
I dont like the idea of spice or anything else melting away the way my toon looks, but if this hits live there better be a fast process to fix it becuase I dont want to there for an hour trying to tell an ID how to make my toon look.
Think about this, how would you like to play a game where you can pick out the spice junkies by just looking at them? Would you want deformed spice junkies as your customers? I think puking and the crack down is going to be enought already. If SOE/LA dont watch it they'll get MADD on them. I bet they'll love haveing a lot of mothers picking out front of their offices, huh?

My challenge is to create a demand for your profession in a way that is unique and fun for not only your profession but those seeking your services.
Why not just add a bunch of unique hairstyles, earrings, tattoos, eye colors, etc. that IDs can apply to your character, but thataren't availablein the character creation screen.
The key to demand for the ID profession is uniqueness. Heck, I would even like to see the selection of hairstyles, hair colors, eye colors, etc. that you have on character creation be dramatically reduced and given to ID instead.
Frankly, I would have never chosen to be a wookie had I only known. I think it would be a great service by the designers of this game to allow image designers to give wookies a ONE TIME species change.
Right now the ONLY reason I haven't deleted my wookie is because of the progress I've made towards being force sensitive. Otherwise, he'd be gone. But even after becoming a Jedi, I'd have to keep him... If I delete him, my Jedi goes too. And I don't think it is fair that I should have to buy a second account just so I can play in the style I would like to (with a human character).
A dev posts and all of a sudden tourists from around the forums come peeping in for a piece of the action.
Really, guys, most of these suggestions we've discussed to death. We play this class, and we've been around for months. If you just use the search feature, read the state of the profession, or do a little research you will find the discussions regarding TEF removal, name changing, disguises, new image design content including wacky hair colors and tattoos, species changes, craftable dyes/wigs, changes based on external factors (scars, fat), replacing dancers/musicians with craftable items (ok, that's on the entertainer boards), colorization of inanimate objects, and buffing.
We're on top of things here.
For a group thats so on top of things.... why is it that every "customizing" option put into game since launch (first armor color changes, and right up to the present "vehicle customizing kits" on test) none has been given to ID?
You should be glad anyone has come to this board to make any sort of comments on what is the *only* profession that every player can 100% avoid dealing with..
But then the attitude of most image designers not to mention the interface for image design is the reason why most people couldn't care less about this proffession..
Thanks for the great post Kwee I'm familiar with your excellent articles on Warcry.
Just a suggestions from my BH mind. Why can't ID be intimately involved in the BH pvp additions we are all demanding. With whatever mechanism the BH pvp system is added wouldn't it be great to have an I.D. apply atemporary mask which allows your character to look different&display a different name above their head, so that a person could 1. avoidaBH or 2. a BH could avoid getting spotted.

I think that the point is that every suggestion that has been made by people visiting the forum is something that we have already spent a lot of time discussing. A lot of these suggestions have been discussed in this very thread! Everyone has a right to come here and post, but I am afraid that it might do more harm than good. Some of the suggestions are for things that most of us don't really want, but if a whole bunch of people come over here and start screaming, "Image designers should be able to do X" and X is something that we really don't want, then with our luck the developers will annouced that by overwhelming demand of the image designers, they have added X to the profession.

What if that different name is the same as one that someone who is creating (or will be creating) a new character wants? Once a name is used, it is thrown out of the list of available names to avoid confusion and griefing.
