I think what I wrote above might have been misinterpreted! I personally like to see new suggestions from IDers and non-IDers alike! I wish that people would read the recent discussions before posting, but that is a completely different issue. I am sure that things that we don't want would not end up on our wish list. But a lot of things end up being added to the game that aren't on anyone's list and image designers are such asmall voice that it is hard to be heard and recognized over the screams of others. Maybe I am just nervous because of the tailor side of things. After all, the developers seem convinced that us tailors wanted death based clothing decay even though it wasn't actually us who asked for it. And no one ever asked for vendor caps, but when they were suggested our tiny (but slightly louder than the ID community) voices were completely drowned out. I am afraid that if some of the developers come here and read our forum and see a lot of people asking that image designers have a direct role in the GCW that they won't see our protests and think that we support the idea. This does not mean that people from outside of the profession should not voice their opinions or make suggestions. I was just expressing my concern. Maybe we should have an official non-wish list for thing that we definitely don't wish for or something.

"Temporary disguises – dozens of threads have been devoted to discussing the potential PVP ramifications, but it is very desired"

One of our wish list items listed in the SOTP could be interpreted as us wanting to influence the GCW, and we have certainly talked about possibly making people less likely to be scanned The concern seems to be that people might resent being forced to see us, whereas we would prefer to offer perks that would enhance gameplay for other professions, including combat. Though certainly we're not unified there, some of us don't want to influence combat in any way at all. But then I could show instances of some of us don't like this or that for just about any of our wish list items, eek!

I am not so concerned about whether we are resented or not. I just don't want the benefits of image design service to be so great that people who don't come see us can't compete and we become essential. I see the master doctors sitting in front of the starports acting like buff-bots. Its a couple of minutes per customer. They get paid, there are a few quick buffs and then it is off to the next customer. Sure they are getting rich, but I would find it unbearable! I don't mind enhancing the play of all classes and I certainly don't hate combatants or people who PvP. I just don't want this to be my primary job and have the stuff I like to do be an occasional treat. When people come to me, I want to do something fun and not be like those poor doctors buffing at the startport. I don't even mind temporary disguises to hide faction or overtness, but I don't want to spend all of my time doing them. If they were something I could make in a factory and put up on a vendor for people who wanted that service, I would have no problem with it. That is, as long as it doesn't require rare loot that would be impossible for me to get like kimogilla scales.

Nice SoTP, Kwee.

Something that I've read (on this Forum or another) is the possibility of IDs being able to color furniture. I think that this would add a little bit of content into the ID profession? Taken a step further, why not the color of the curtains in the Naboo houses? Even theinterior colors of the other houses? I guess, one could take it a bit further and suggest being able to color the house inside and out!

Yes, this is Image Design. Some people/players consider their house an extention of their character. They spend hours setting furniture in a particular way, or even going so far as taking ordinary items and turning them into fish aquariums.

Add in the ability to modify Merchant vendors AND the ability to color furniture and/or interior portions of a house, and voila... a whole different playing experience and an increase in demand for services.

How about letting Image Designers create a "faction disguise" of some kind... ideas:

Overt character remains overt (can attack overt PC's) but appears covert - removed once combat is initiated.

Covert character gets "disguise enemy flag" action - first time action is taken to warrant an enemy flag, it doesn't show up because he was in disguise.

I believe that TH is already pursuing furniture dye as a architect ability, not an ID ability here. I think the architects would want that ability for themselves, and rightly should have it, considering that tailors, armorsmiths, master artisans, and droid engineers can all dye their respective items. While I would like to see more content in ID, I don't want our content to be another profession's nerf.

Do you think having such services might mean more people likely to ask for a makeover? Like, while I'm here could you tweak my nose? Just a thought I had reading your post

We don't need or want to be useful to other"professions", because we are alreadly useful to other Players!

Image Design is Not a soloing profession

Even though less then 1% of the players are IDers, a great number are effected by the ID profession.

For example; If you added the skill to change the color of ridges on trandoshans, a good 50+% of the players that play trandoshans would be effect by this even thought few if any would gain the skill them selves.

So by adding content like in the Wish List you would improve the game for a very large % of the players.

If ID becomes functionally useful to otherprofessions our unique playstyle is destroyed.

Thank you so much for reading our Sotp Runesabre

A couple of notes:

  • "The Image Design community feels isolated and overlooked as a profession, and often discusses how Image Design might be incorporated into SOE’s vision of profession interdependency, or at the very least have their existing abilities expanded and enhanced." - One of my statements in the SOTP mirrored something we have said often before. We are not interdependent with other professions. It's not accurate to say we don't want to be integrated with other professions. We are however probably all agreed that we want people to come to us because they want to and not because they have to I'm not sure I would want grumpy people lining up at my door wanting to lose weight after eating too much Air Cake

  • Species changes were no'no'd by LucasArts/LucasFilms

  • Forgive the frustration of some of the ID'ers. Many of you only read a small part of the State of the Profession and missed some vital information. It's a common pet peeve on many forums.

  • What you as customers would like is valuable information for us If the majority of us would not want to do it, it's of course unlikely to make it to one of our wish lists But we do want to know where we are in agreement, and non ID'ers have in the past come up with great ideas we've embraced

Yay! I can get back in! Anyway, I think that this might happen sometimes, but in the majority of cases probably not. I think it would be like BE enhanced clothes, were most of the time people ask me for something with enhancements and they get annoyed if I ask what kind of clothes they want. They couldn't care less about the art part of it, they just want big enhancement numbers and they want it ASAP. If it also looks really good, their reaction is, "wow, thats a great enhancement! Thanks!", so it is hard to be inspired to do anything nice. Right now I get lots of tells from people wanting to change their look, so it is not like I can't stay busy. As I said before, performing some sort of disguise service is not something that I object to if it is done properly. But if it is added to the game the wrong way, my job will mostly be disguising people and image design just won't be as fun anymore.

I think IDers should be able to make people bald again. Why was that taken away? Shaving someone's head is not very hard to do, it's certainly easier than giving a hundred tight braids...

Also, in light of this Imp crackdown, if IDers could give temporary disguises they would get a lot more business. Disguises that even mimic other species...and such disguises should be able to evade scans hehe.

I have a bad feeling about this nerf
