Thread: ID Enhancements...
I'd like to add my voice in hoping that this doesn't become the norm. The backlash you've seen to many proposed changes wasn't because you announced them, it was because of a failure to fully explain them. Using the chef revamp, the primary concerns I heard from my chef friends was that there would be a lack of "multi-stat" foods. This turned out not to be the case, and their fears were unfounded. But if the system had been accurately explained to begin with there may not have been those fears to quell. So please, in the future, don't keep us in dark—explain things to us more fully.

The stat-changes are a big issue, and we did not announce them beforehand. We chose not to announce because we anticipated a large, initial backlash, but ultimately felt that it was the best thing for the game. Runesabre's vision of your profession includes one absolutely critical interdependence with all other professions. Most people do not do frequent changes. We don't think you will be overloaded with requests. And you will provide a very valuable service far faster than it could have been done before!

Nolan007, no...that's not what I'm saying at all. What I'm saying that droids emoting useless holograms fits in the SW context a whole lot better than "magical" emotes adorning avatar heads. As Caf mentioned above, it smacks of magic, and as we both know - in theory this is what differs SWG from EQ.

I agree.

Hmm..I hope this doesn't become the standard for future changes. If you expected that kind of response, maybe it was something to reconsider? I hope that community feedback (the constructive ones) in the futurewon't bepushed aside/ignored simply because there will be a potential for whining on the forums..

I think it is funny that SOE has taken one of the most successful franchises ever (Star Wars) and made it into an MMORPG that barely has the same subscription numbers as several other non-franchised games (DAOC for example, has same or higher subscription numbers).
Given that fact, do you really think you know what is in the best interests of the game? It is obvious you have totally failed to achieve that so far - maybe you should try listening to your customers more.... Just a thought ![]()
Watching the development of the game is a bit like watching a movie where a car is stuck on a railroad track and you hear the train horn in the distance....the destruction of the car is inevitable, you just don't know when it is going to happen......

So why is it that every other profession in the game now depend on ID, while ID depends on none?
I hope you will reconsider this change, at least keep the old stat migration also.
And i REALLY hope you will make it optional to display the hugely immersion-breaking new emotes.
"I think the emotes will be fun in certain situations as well. (C'mon... a kitty!!) Tatoos and scars, as you are aware, fell outside of our tech budget for this round."
JustG, I'm not going to be entirely negative, but unfortunately I am unable to come up with something that is counter-constructive. I think that almost all the changes for the IDs are great, and I understand that budgets and timeframes are of the essence but I can honestly say that SWG or the Star Wars Universe has no place what so -ever for CATS. Scars and tattoos are what I really would have liked to see.

I don't see the issue with stat migration. I mean honestly, how often do people change their stats? On top of that, why wouldn't it be an ID related function? They are personal trainers. When people look to drastically change their physical fitness in a short time they hire a personal trainer. This makes perfect sense to me and this wave of crying nerf is silly. One argument seems to be that it's almost impossible to find and ID. Well that's because the prof is pretty useless now and only attracts a few players. With changes like they are putting in, more people may want to play ID's and it will be much easier to find them. I think this will be good for all over time after this silly backlash dies down.
PS I'm still not sure how I feel about the holo emotes. But I've enjoyed the game thus far in every aspect and am willing to trust in the devs' judgement with this one.
Without other players, an ID would have nothing to do at all. so IDs do in fact depend greatly on other professions.
