Thread: ID exploits

an exploit and seek to do it anyway and the ID'ers who perform these exploits as well.
Actually, the way I see it, is most people who are not image designers don't know that it's an exploit, so I haven't been reporting them, I've just been telling them the dangers of using an exploint (hello? account banning anyone?) and I offer to change it back to a race specific image design. I've been asking for the names of the image designers (I've found three of them on my server, thanks to the unsuspecting non-image designers) and adding their names to my open ticket.
Where do we draw the line guys? This isn't intended to be in the game, just like credit dupers aren't meant to have something like 10 billion credits. The severity may not be the same, but and exploit is an exploit, and you folks have been warned. Those who continue to seek out and use the code should know better.
You are reporting people for trying to make other people happy, why? Does this make you feel better about yourself. By now I am sure the devs are fully aware of the problem, and can see who is doing it, but the fact that you have taken it upon yourself to crusade against people in your same profession who are helping other people out is truly amazing. The devs obviously do not view this as a major problem or it would have been fixedby this point. Once more, this kind of behavior is contrary to the point of our profesison; we are suppose to be sociable friendly people by trade because we have to communicate with all the players that want us to ID them, yet you seem to have some desire to attack your fellow image designers. I'm willing to bet you've gotten no feedback from your open tickets except for the automated message, and you're simply creating more clutter for the techs to read. So well done, report everyone you see, no one is safe. Does that not seem just a little too extreme to you? Enjoy the game; let others enjoy the game how they want to play it. If the devs deem this a problem they need to have fixed then fine, but seeing different races dressed up for halloween as other races was one of my more pleasureable experience in this game and I hope I see more of it. Report me if you'd like. I've done nothing harmful to a person since I started playing this game, check around the Theed Cantina on bloodfin if you'd like a few dozen references. The fact that you are reporting people for trying to help others simply speaks volumes. Let the devs decide what is to be done, not you.
Low level people doing this is a problem i will agree, but for a master image designer to do it, I see no problem. People complain and complain about there not being enough styles, so there is a way to give them more.
Now you want to start throwing accusations of cheating around? Excuse but last I checked I've been saying the devs should say something about this, and if they said we should stop I would. There has been no word from them.
As far as the current restraints, they make no sense at all and I would dare you to argue that point with me. Look at tattoos; look at unusual hair coloring. They are two things that should be universal to any race that has skin or hair, yet they are not. Ink and dye, all you need, nothing race specific.
The fact that you can't see a difference between credit duping and giving someone a haircut is more amusing than anything else. Credit duping is giving yourself an unfair advantage in the game. Giving someone a different haircut because they are bored with the handful of styles currently available gives them no advantage and harms no one in the process. Why do you have such a problem with this?
And before you start claiming this is all we do. 99% of the Image designing I do is standard things, but for some of the people who read our boards and ask for something unusual, I help them. I don't go around advertising it because most people haven't reach that point of boredom with their character's look, but for those who have, I am happy to help.
If the devs choose to do something about this then fine, otherwise what business of yours is it how other people choose to peacefully and non-intrusively enjoy the game?
What I took offense about in your statement is when you said you are reporting people; I have no problem with your view, you are entitled to it. But the fact that you are going out of your way to harm other people who have done nothing officially wrong, or harmful to you says in your words that maybe you should take a step back and look at yourself.
"Credit duping is giving yourself an unfair advantage in the game" Oookay, lets turn the tables around here for a second. Having a twi'lek with hair is an unfair advantage to the other twi'leks who don't know how to get these "new" styles.
I don't understand how you can be so blinded as to the fact that these are exploits. And I never once said this is ALL you do. But those who douse the cheat, it's wrong. And yes, it is a CHEAT because the devs did not intend it to be in the game. Don't make it out to be anything other than what it is.
If you're hurt by me reporting folks doing the wrong thing, then boohoo, cry me a river, build a bridge and get over it. I'll continue to do it because those people knowingly using the exploit are in the wrong. Sorry if that hurts your feelings.
Eventually, we WILL get new hairstyles, but this isn't the issue right now. Yes we want them, we might even need them, but we have to be patient, and wait for the devs to say when it's going to be alright to impliment them into the game.
THE best possible fix for this would not be to simply close this moronic exploit, used ONLY by & for morons. Hint: you WILL NOT EVER be "unique" in this game. If there are 500 hairstyles for your race...guess what, you'll still pass at least a few of them per day w/ your same style. Deal. The best possible fix would be for anyone who used or recieved this exploit to have that character deleted the second they hit accept.
This leads right into the real issue here: stupid non-SW type garbage WILL NOT ever make anyone more unique. The more stupid modern-day-fad/Hot Topic trendiness that's added, the more the game goes from Star Wars into just a bunch of similarly mundane, "could be in a modern year 2003 game" players that will be around.
People who suck don't WANT to play a Star Wars race. That's why humans are so common. That's why people want tattoos like real life trendy Earth humans even though it has NOTHING to do with Star Wars humans. It's a simple lack of immersion & lack of imagination in favor of going back to the familiar & dull. And YES, having MTV fad hair or punk rock alternative garbage colors are lame fads with no place in Star Wars.
Humans in Star Wars are clearly defined in the films. If they're too dull for you, you don't & hopefully will NEVER get to try to "stand out" with green hair or some such rot that's right at home in any corporate mall in America. If they're too dull, be ACTUALLY adventurous & play an exotic alien species. We need people to be able to look like Padme in her royal garb, NOT like some bandwagoning modern-RL-Earth tattooed video host or crappy Staind member. We need new tattoos...for Zabraks ONLY. So Zabs can look like Darth Maul types with full on bodywork. Because in Star Wars...Zabraks DO have tattoos. Unlike humans. Not popular: but CORRECT & BEST.
If you want luxurious Barbie's Dream House hair, play a human. Not a Zabrak. If you wanna look "uniqie" too bad. Get new clothes or do a good makeup/costme/dye combo like me. I use zero exploits...yet always look great. As a Zab female ALWAYS WITH HORNS. Yes I sometimes even use the "non-pretty" hairstyles. Cause I'm an ALIEN & human standards of cuteness are filth to my race & I play that. If you just can't stand not to look cute...play a human cause you're too soft for a Zab. We're warriors, no nonsense, strong willed & harsh. Like it or lump it.
Every single player defying these facts & making Zabs with blonde princess hair or humans asking to look like Sid Viscious need some &*%$ imagination. Play a STAR WARS character, not some anime hackwork throwback, a modern life "I just can't identify unless it's like rela life" lame-o, or an "I just HAVE to be PRESCIOUS" Zabrak. Bottom line: if the true-to-the-movies versions of the races AS IMPLEMENTED CORRECTLY & beautifully in the game aren't "unique" or are "too ugly"....you're sad. They're FANTASTIC. Every exploiter is ruining the game & destroying the immersion & the roleplaying & the fun. Die, Micheal Jackson race-traitor freakshows. Don't like bald spots? You picked the wrong race then, dummy.
The only one I ever had sympathy for was a Zab who DID wanna be human, hated the ugly horns, wanted a pretty butterfly or tribal-trendy tattoo instead of ahrash facial tattoo, & wanted soft Vidal blonde waif model hair. But she wanted to use the Zab's mental power for her character & didn't want to give it up merely for vanity's sake. So I didn't report her exploiting for full hair.
Remember: it's not "adding hair". It's REMOVING HORNS. It's removing the Zabrak from the Zabrak.
We could SURE use more options. But ONLY if they're immersive & ADD to the feel of the game, the exotic uniqueness of the individual races, & AVOID uniformity & a feeling of NOT being in real life. The more "real world" it is, the worse it is. There;s a REASON, a bulletproof one, that Lucas went so far out of his way to make things UNfamiliar, UNcomfortable, & as foreign as possible. The ID profession should be a BASTION supporting that.
Use some imagination. Let's demand racially UNIQUE features. What about the Wookiee warpaint in the concept art & the braid thingies they had (from the limited edition set's art ook....beautiful stuff!)? What about letting Tattoo Artists (4 skiil boxes) do more coverage like Darth Maul on Zabs only especially now that males can go shirtless(keeping the Zab's uniqueness intact, not letting just anyone have it...boring)? What about The Naboo Queen's huge formal hairstyles for Hair Stylists on humans? More types of lekku wrapping styles (besides, what, the 5 we have now)? How about the formal face makeup, elaborate & strange, NOT permanent tattoos OR human modern eyeshadow & lipstick drudgery...but the whole whiteface thing for humans? It could decay so that it had to be reapplied & people wouldn't just wear it as default...making it somewhat SPECIAL.
How about having a few (a very few) of the most exotic alterations be ID ONLY? As in only we can wear them permanently, they decay off other people? As if we spend the effort & have the skill to maintain a look that others need reapplied. So we'd be identifyable & have a little prestige!
Sorry I'm ranting but it just pains me t osee the LIMITLESS potential of such a beauftlly imaginitive & exotic universe watered down & made boring by making everyone the same & just like the options & looks in every other setting in every other game with standardized dullness like green mowhawks...in a universe where you can have HORNSand play ALIENS.
My twi'lek has horns. There, I said it. I like the way they look. It makes me smile. If you want to go off on a holy rant about how I'm ruining your experience in some way, be my guest. Just don't expect me to listen to you.
In a galaxy of probably millions of races, we're allowed to play 8. We have many choices within those 8 species. But sometimes you want something just a little different, and if it doesn't harm anyone, then let it go. Maybe my character is a crossbreed. Maybe she was enslaved and bio-engineered. Maybe she's a race that looks human but has blue skin. Whatever. But honestly, just let it go.
Oh, and thanks for the incoming one-stars.
i see it as this;
Will you make a citizen's arrest when you see a jaywalker?
Will you call the cops on someone who doesn't make the stop on the line at a stop sign?
Will you squeal to the teacher when another student passes their friend a note?
You should be reporting real issues instead of flooding the cue with tickets of these bugs. I'm sure the devs will get around to it, when they fix the other 2thousand bugs.
And for the record; The broken code is a bug, the act of using it is an exploit. And if sony banned everyone who used an exploit, then they wouldn't be anyone playing this game. You can't tell me you never once ran a macro and went afk for a minimum of 1 second. Unattended macro use is against the EULA
like to correct what i said. I mean flooding the cue with tickets of the ones who IDed the hair. Reporting /bug is what the bug command is for. Ticket's are another issue.

I've never run a macro. So yes, I can definitely say that. We don't all stoop to that level.
/rinse
/repeat
I dont mind saying im using macros to grind ID this time around..not unattended though. I think since last time i mastered ID (and not for some holocron crap, i just restarted as a diff race) I didnt use a macro at all. So my second time i deserve too...^_-
