Thread: Publish 9 and Image Designer change updates.
This just went from bad to worse for us no MIDs. How are we suppose to get any customers. I guess we will just have to self ID for XP.

I think the best change you could make for image designers is to remove the profession entirely from the game. It's a 100% fluff profession that serves no purpose to most players as anything more than an annoyance. There's hardly anyone in the profession and it's nigh impossible to find one when you need a change. I'd rather see those terminals in the image design tents become self serve terminals where i can just go and pay a fee and get some changes done. Would be a nice credit sink as well.
Seriously, image designer has to be one of the least played professions and I think it's kinda silly to be spending any time whatsover on them considering how many highly played combat professions are broken, ie. bounty hunters or commando's and many others. Fluff stuff like this keeps getting fixed, new vehicles get added new dungeons, but where's the fixes to issues that have been around since launch?
Shut the F up!!! If that's the kind of game you want, go play Jedi Outcast. With that reasoning why not delete all the crafting & healing professions too? Who needs them?
And if you think that what they did to our profession in any way even slightly resembles a "fix" you need to stop smoking whatever it is you're on. They introduced many more problems than they fixed & even took away some of the previous fixes we busted our asses to get months ago.

- Master Image Designers will have their timers reduced by 50% for cosmetic and physical changes outside the tent.
Better, but that still means it will take 2 & 1/2 minutes to change something as simple as lipstick on my own chars.
- Master Image Designers will have their timers removed entirely for cosmetic and physical changes inside the tent.
Better, but pointless, as many Master ID's won't go anywhere near the tents to begin with.
- Stat migration xp will be raised from 600xp to 2000xp.
Better for those still grinding, but does nothing to solve the boredom issue...only the length of it.
- Image Designer tentshave had new special music composed for them. Thiswas delivered to me last Friday and should be in place sometime this week. There are three separate tracks, each specialized to fit the mood of the decor of each of the three tent themes.
Nice, but I'd rather havethe numbers on the sliders back & the ability to not get disconnected from the game because I am forced to sit around doing nothing.
Again, from where you place your priorities in fixing things, it is clear that your emphasisremains on forced player interdependancy & adding time sinks to the game. With everygrasp atthe mighty dollar, you are loosing players like wet clay oozing between the fingers of a clenching fist.
As Yoda would say "Constantly tripping over dollars to pick up pennies, SOE is."

Great, you'vemade it so that unless you're already amaster Image Designer, you won't be able to effectly gain xp due to the fact masters will be most desirable now with the lack of timers. Congrats to Kwee and the developers for creating this 'good old boys' club and ignoring the rest of the image designers beneath them.
I have talked to Kwee about this. They didn't listen to her about the timers. She pretty much told us "If we get any timer reduction at all it will be for Masters only."

nuh uh! don't you dare blame kwee for any of this. she's only tried to help and as far as i see it, one of the most active player corrospondents out there, if not the most. just because she brings to the devsthe idea behind what the rest of us want and the devs decide to brush those ideas off for whatever reason is not her fault.
developement on any of theprofessions has been very, very slow in the past many months due to mouts, vehicles and player city developements, as well as the space expansion. jedi is all the rage right now, which i think the devs have also been busting their asses on (because it's special somehow? i dont know.). so these sorts of things we've been asking for are going to be slow to come out (though that doesn't explain why the devs gave us something we never asked for or really even wanted with the stat migration business and wasted time with it), so otherwise i understand. do i like it? no, not at all as i hold certain opinions towards the whole certain rare professiondevelopement/re-vamp business going on, which i will not discuss here because it is not the place.
it seems the devs try to go ahead and fix things, but end up digging themselves a deeper hole until they think they've got it right (specifically with the ID timer business.) and i really think they should just say "okay, we **edit**ed up," move on and git rid of that damned timer all together.
sure, some of us didnt like the hologrinding bit for the profession (personally, i didn't care, i didnt see it affecting IDing as much as hologrinding did dancers and musicians) or we didnt like the way exp was gained, but really, how many better alternatives are there to gaining exp on something like this? the profession in itself is all clicking and sliding bars about. why sound exp gain be any different? in an attempt to fix the issue, it has only caused outrage amongst the IDers. IF the timer is about exp gain soley, then what does it matter to anyone who has already mastered?--none really, since they have all the exp for it they could ever want since they have already mastered and no longer need exp. But, to those trying to gain exp to master, this only harms them. harms them more than the masters. i think most IDers do it because they like it for creative license it gives them when designing a character aesthetic--- not for money. so what does it matter a ton of new master pop up when you take away the timer and put it back to the way it was? especially if IDers are few and far between?
the timer only discourages fresh faces from trying out the profession to the end, annoys the masters and other accomplished IDers, forces IDer to sit around waiting for that damned stat migration to complete for someone whom otherwise would probably never go to an ID (and dispise IDers now for having to go to one and sit around waiting for it to finish.)
oh, and the only thing the holoemotes are good for is for performances. should have just added those to droid effects, or given them as performance effects.
- Have your novice or highest ID title up all the time.
- If there is an MID in the tent, ask them politely to refer some customers to you that you'd be able to help. I've been doing this on Radiant since the publish went live. (Usually in Coronet.)
- Greet customers as they enter the tent, and if they're confused answer their questions. Make sure they understand that you can do many of the things an MID can do.
To the devs, at least give us some indication that you'll be making it easier for non-MIDs. Some proposals perhaps?
Until this is resolved, I think we should try to set up a system where MIDs make sure there are no non-MIDs around that could help the customer first. Obviously this is all voluntary, but if you're like me you're often flooded with requests and having someone to take some of the load might be beneficial.

One fun clarification/suggestion that should really help the situation out.
If Stat Migration is supposed to be our 'big draw' [for Novice ID and higher], we need to make sure folks realize that there's absolutely no differnce between a Master ID doing and a Novice ID doing it. The timer stays the same [even with these Pub9 changes].
Hmm, I am detecting that the exp boost in stat migrations will not affect me because I am not doing them any more.
And don't you dare blame Kwee for this screw up of yours, we all know you don't listen to her.
Edit: You leave in the part of the profession that many of us regard as torturous, take away my few remeaning customers, and expect elevator music to impress me?
The part that supprises me most is that they somehow think that increasing the exp for stat migration will make it "all better". My two harrasment CS tickets say you are not paying attention.

Hello,
Kwee has been a great person to interact with as she is always there representing all of you giving me feedback, collecting information and offering suggestions all along the way.
We love Kwee and are very supportive of her, it is you the devs that are going her a hard time.
