Thread: Image Designer is now harder then BH!
Remember to target (CTRL + 1) yourself before you start the ID session. That should cut the timer in half.

Well I do it then i watch the timer go from 2 min. to 5 min.? So every time i image desing on myself and change eye color... While iam in a tent i have to wait 5 min.!!!! Each time and iam only getting 150 xp! This is going to take weeks devs please fix this prof i beg u!
Publish 8.1 has made a mockery of the Image Design profession.
It's improved things, for sure. The interface use to be really weird.
Now, the Devs made it take forever and a month to master ID. They took away an ability from the community and gave it to just one profession, THEN made it impossible to master that profession! And, no specific adjustments in sight ANYWHERE in the near future! In fact, the MASTERS get their timer lowered!!!! which is frightening, people. I don't care if you benefitted from this or not, wait until it's something YOU want to do, and used to be able to do, but oh now you have to pay 50k to do it. It WILL happen to you. This is only the beginning, I'm afraid.
Image Design, to me, is now like a Mafia. It's the chosen few who are the Masters (or Dons, if you prefer), and the many lowly serfs desperately trying to work up the ranks, but most will notf and just give up. They control Stat Migration. They set prices high by cornering the market on Stat Migration.
I pray the Devs don't touch Master Artisan - I don't want people hating my main profession anymore than they already do.
For the love of God, fix ID. For the sake of the game and your reputation as Devs, react to some of this feedback. I know you guys read this stuff.

I find it amazing how all of a sudden "everyone" wants to be an image designer...where were you all before the patch announcement? Certainly not grinding ID... You people who cry about the timer make me laugh. You have some audacity to try and change the way our profession was planned when after you master it you will only drop it.
For the longest time our profession was a joke. No one wanted to do it. The hologrinders would flame our boards on how our profession sucked and how they can move through it quickly. It would have been all well and good if they just did the "grind and go," but no... they stayed, price gouged, undercut, griefed our clients into not trusting us anymore. The very same people that almost ruined our profession are back again whining about a timer.
Know something? Im glad there is a timer. I got used to the crying and I snicker every time I see some 1337 d00D whining how they "jU$7 g07 ID 4 th3r3 h0l0! OMG! SUxX0rz!" I get a smile every 2-5 minutes, sometimes every ten.
That's a very unfair characterization. I want to be an ID just because it sounds fun and I want to do it. But, with it being the slowest (by far) and dullest profession to level up in, it's pretty hard to get motivated to do it.
If you want to get a true taste, I suggest dropping a few of your skill boxes and regaining them. Then come back and tell us how happy you are about the timer.

She claims to have done that already.
I see your point, Syzygy-Gorath.
I can understand how with was all just thrown at you guys.
I was just kinda messin around with the whole Mafia thing. My point was that several ID's I've met have asked for a pretty decent chunk of change for something that is a 10 minute process that costs nothing but time. Similarly, as a Master Musician, I'll take 10 minutes to buff someone at no cost but time, but I don't ask for 30k+ or even 50k for a musician buff. My time is valuable, but dang. I get about 1k to 10k. Some of these prices are just outrageous for stat migration, yet there's little to no competition because there's hardly any Master ID's, and little chance any decent amount of new ones will emerge to keep prices in check. As a Master Musician, sure I could charge a lot, but I'd rarely get business because there's enough other musicians to keep me in check.
The Devs essentially said, "Here, now you and only you can do this. There'll hardly be any more new Master ID's anytime soon. Charge what you like, see you in Publish 9 or whenever we do something about what we just implemented."
My frustrations lie mostly with the game team facilitating such a thing to happen to the players, not necessarily animosity towards ID's in general. I know there are many ID's who are really cool - at the same time, plenty are grouping together to charge insane amounts for things, since there's little competition. No Dev team should ever implement a system where a previously available function for the players is now in the hands of a small percentage of players, and the skill those players possess will take months to gain with the new changes put in at the same time.
Also guys if you haven't noticed: I have been newbies trying to get their stats migrated and they don't have enough money so, I have seen some Image designers not give them one I feel sorry for future newbies with stat migration. I know when I just started 1000 credits was alot of money I hate to see their look on their face when they Image designer says 10k plz.
Also I feel sorry for Jedi now they have to put themselves at risk by having to get their stat migration changed for whatever reason. Also with new system right around the corner they might need some adjusting for the new skills and etc.
I see the future with newbies without stat migration and dead jedi in the tents
!
Novice Entertainer to ID 2 : 6,000 ID XP @ 100xp/min. 1 hour.
ID 2 to Novice ID: 35,000 xp @ 300xp/2.5min(120 xp/min), roughly 5 hours [4 hours 51 minutes and change, so take 5 hours for ease {4hr52.5 min technically}].
Remains the same. Fixed err typo [300 / 2 == 150, not 120], actually needed to adjust the resultant time, becuase it does significantly reduce it. [--RETCON, 300 / 2.5 is = 120 though, me smart, thankfully, it's easy to fix,
Novice ID to Master ID: 400,000 xp @ 200xp/min [2000/10min, Stat migration] : 2000 minutes.or 33 hours and 20 minutes.
against
Novice ID to Master ID: 400,000 xp @ 150xp/min (300xp/2min)
: 2667 minutes or 44 hours and 27 minutes - 44.5 hours.
Sidenote, my numbers for that migration were originally wrong and fueled by a bad recurring brain floop I had.
So Publish 9 nets a net grind time benefit of about 11 hours and 10 minutes. Putting the total 'grind time'/work hours at 40 [38 1/3] hours instead of 51 [49 1/2] hours. Roughly a 20% reduction in the overall work time.
[ Edit, realized my mistake. Fixed math, thankfully, the end result is still pretty much the same ]

Now if they could do something to make a stat migration less harrowing an experience, we might be getting somewhere.

Uhm... would you mind explaining to me how Jedi getting their stats migrated is a risky procedure? I migrated Jedi's stats the other day, and neither of us exploded or turned into chubas.
They have to goto one of a few Salons to get migrated. Further exposing themselves and raising their visibilty.
Vreni Island is probably the aspiring Jedi's best shot, or arranging an appointment at the more 'quiet' [at the time] Salons. Be prepared to pay extra though

Hrm... I was under the impression that their visibility had to do with people seeing them use their lightsabre... not people just seeing their 'toon.
Lot of uncertainity regarding the system, and I suspect that majority of vis comes from "doing stuff".
There's also that the current 'habit' for BH playing 'Spot the Jedi' is to /friend them so it's easier for them to hunt them down if they do show up on the term. Of course, that only becomes an issue if the Jedi in question makes it obvious he's a jedi. Not much of an "at-glance" appearance reveals them, unless they get stupid profession badges for jedi profs.
You are right though, there's not a "lot" of risk [not any more than waiting for the starport] in going to an ID for stat migration.
After Pub9, it'll suck for the Knights who are permanently overt.
And Bri, I'm a declared MID
[ Add / Edit ]
Oh, and not just "use" the lightsaber, having it out at all gains visibility, but the rest still applies.
