I would like to think that you are cool enough not to shoot your customers though.

SOE, think about every non-Jedi "cancelled" signature you've seen, and remember that there will be more as you forget the communities that makes this game's heart and soul. Entertainers, Crafters, Hybrids, Non-Jedi Combats, and Smugglers. When you are closing shop on SWG, remember that you ignored the REAL community to cater to an alpha class that assured this game would never be "balanced."

So go play an image designer, and try to keep a total new player mind frame, like someone who just bought the game. If you can do that you will see nothing is wrong with the profession. A person who goes into ID fresh knowing what the current system is like will do one of two things:

1.) Quit because its frustrating, and thats ok. Personally I think crafting is frustrating and DON'T play a crafter. Do I think they should make crafting easier? Do I bark on thier boards to fix a profession I HAVE NO interest in playing? While your input is nice, unless you are an image designer your voice is not as loud as others who are passionate about the profession, no offense.

2.) Become a Master Image Designer and enjoy thier profession.

Thinking like a new player is exactly what concerns me about the current system. Sitting around waiting on a blue screen for 60+ hours, on top of having to find clients, on top of having no cash, on top of competing with MID's with their lowered timers, on top of not being able to perform any service worthwhile, is not engaging play no matter how you spin it. Insanely difficult gameplay that's out of whack with the other professions, that brings unnecessary frustrationto both player and clientisn't "okay". It's justbad gameplay.

I know my input doesn't weigh as heavily as a current ID who's struggling.I would wager that it doesn't weigh much less than that of an MID who doesn't have to play through the current system, benefits from ID levelling being semi-gated, and who doesn't seem tosympathize with prospective aspiring IDers.

Luckily, I'm in good company, as most IDers, including most masters-- and the correspondant herself-- happens to agree. Thus, I'd think my opinionweighs something... not because of where I speak from. But simply because it's a sound one.

It doesn't take someone who plays the profession to give opinions and suggestions. It doesn't take someone who's sat in front of a blue screen 60+ hours to have good ideas about gameplay. And I knowI've appreciated sound and thought out input from those who don't play my profession-- so long as the input is sound and thought out.

And to put things in perspective-- your profession is currently being designed by someone who's likely played the profession and experiencedits gameplayeven less than I have. And the excruciating timers you'reenamored with andthat you defend vehementlyis one created by said designer with absolutely zero mandate from the ID community. It just shows that it doesn't take a player of the profession to design. And that even when such designs are questionable, certain players of the profession will still take to it.

Speaking of having a new player mindset... have we tried levelling MIDfrom a fresh character on a server that we know no one yet?

Depends on the customer . Sides, I'm a Brawler. [And most of my clients can beat me up three ways to hoth]

But frankly, I stay covert for the most part, and just don't aid those of another faction too much unless I'm trying to get something out of them like info.
