Cynnamon,

I need to explain something for you so that you can stop saying that is was easy for anyone who is a Master ID right now, because I personally feel insulted. A lot of the people who did Master ID here fairly recently had huge benefits from buffs and food/spices, and they could masterin a day or so, but then dropped it as soon as they got it to go to thier next holo-grinding class.

Do you see how much mind that one of your design changes takes? Do you notice for the more advanced changes it takes more mind? Now imagine a SWG without buffs of any kind, imagine no real usable foods. The food didn't get really good until the chef revamp, and even before that, it was hard for them to aquire the resources to make really good foods.

When I say no buffs, I mean no Dancer Buffs, no Musician Buffs, etc.

Combat Medics couldn't heal mind wounds back then either, so that knocks them out too. So........

IF you could find someone that would actually click for you, you got xp until your mind bar ran out. Then you had to wait until you had a blue bar again to start, so you could do several "good" ID changes to maximize your experience points. Your wait was usually pretty short, 1-3 minutesI am assuming, and it varied from race to race as some races, like my Zab had loads of mind, but it ran out fast. And I did most of my IDing on myself because once a Master ID had changed someone the way they wanted to look, they would NOT let you work on them.

What I am trying to tell you is that we had our own version of that timer and we could not *click that button continuously* like your artisan.

I hope that helpsinclearing things somewhat, and if you do a search of posts...it took the first "recorded" Master Image Designer 19 days to master. And back then we were all racing to see who could get to the master titles first because it was competition and it was fun.

If you wanted to "grind" it out right now, it still wouldn't take a power gamer that long.

Do I like the timer? No, I don't. Am I in favor of the timer, no I am not, but its the best "tool" the Devs had to slow down the advancement and give a little bit of dignity and honor to a class that had become the cosmic joke class.

personally I think it's great that they upped the xp for stat migs although I wish it was instated sooner because my grind would've gone a helluva lot faster and I would've been more socialable toward those coming in for stat migrations instead of trying to ignore them because I was getting better xp grinding on a dummy. Well, I guess a grats is going out to those going up the trees now. The lower time limit for masters like myself may cause even less people to go to novices thus lowering their chance at id business even further.

Also, I know this is a little off track but Igot mighty sick and tired of people asking me "can you migrate stats yet?" My title says I'm a freakin Image Designer, all IDs can migrate stats! Why do they always think the masters are better at migrating stats? Or that only masters can do the migrations? The times when I didn't have a friend to grind on is when I was the most lenient but my goodness there is a very misinformed public about the ID profession.

Most memorable SWG quotes:
"You lookin fer summat?"
"Get on board the falcon kid. This place is gonna blow." (How can you forget something you've heard over 100 times in a row?)

I believe, though I haven't looked at the details for a while, the part that will be made 'easier' is that you'll get much more XP for doing stat migrations. Thus once you claw your way through Novice ID, you should be able to have a slightly easier time of it doing the rest of ID, because you'll get extra XP for the stat migrations.

Getting to that point wouldn't be any different than it is now, it'll just make the post-NID grind a bit faster.

Heh one of my gripes too [the search Master for Stat Migration]. I always tell clients that if they don't like my price for Stat, ask someone who isn't Master, they'll prolly be cheaper.

Although, I think I understand the stat migration question. I tend to interpret it as an "Are you able to at this moment?" question. Or "Do you know how to?" [see Dancer Buffing for the reasoning behind that] It's not too far of a strech to assume that the devs would obfuscate our new desired function from the intended perveyers .

You can be offended all you want.

I am offended that you are offended lol

I lose "mind" as well but when YOU lost mind you gained a hell of a lot more of your level than I did with each button click.

It took me over 2 hours, possibly 3 hours to do one box that needed only 20000 exp. I was not doing on myself but on my sister's toon. This is ridiculous.

I already know from veterans of this game that it was very easy COMPARED TO NOW to level up ID.

I know that Master's, after NOT having a time limit before don't want one now.. however a time limit to do YOUR thing withall your options is much more fun and less noticeable than leveling up with an EYE change.

AND I don't havve customers enough to help with that because they want MORE than I can do. It's ridiculous enough we don't get lots of skills while climbing the ladder up to master because OF the fact that leaves us to spend game time leveling if we want to EVER get to master ID, but to complain about time limits for master when it will not be noticeable for you is silly. (I didn't say YOU complained but I know masters complained about it being too easy for people to level up ,one time then the next complained about having time limits themselves.

I think a different tune would be sung if ya'll weren't already masters.

Anyway I wil be stuck doing stat migration on my sis's toon to level up after publish 9.

So that I can get to master and THEN start the fun of my profession

BTW if you are offended, then you have to remember this is a GAME! a game and it's supposed to be fun not work!

Could you please tell me when these guys are on. I cannot even get a stat migration anymore on my server. I wish they would allow stats to be migrated the old way at least. I dont think there are any ID's on intrepid.

I know that you hate fighters but please keep in mind that this is Star Wars, notice the "Wars" part of it.

Some poeple like combat ina video "game". Just because our thing does not involve sitting around changing people's eye color and make up doesn't mean we have any less right to be here and get done what we need to get done.

I'm on Intrepid. Check the stickied posts for ID's by galaxy, make note of them, add them to your Friends list, and make friends.

Erm, sorry, not sure where you got hte idea that we didn't like fighter types. But okie...

The problem mostly is we don't like folks who just treat us like a Stat Migration terminal. It's not much fun to just sit there staring at each other for 10 minutes [plus whatever if the client happens to go afk] just staring each other down.

And of course, we dislike the folks who feel that somehow our time isn't as valuable as their time because we're not combat characters.

And as a side-lowblow [not directed to you, Jacquelyn ], I'm tired of folks selectively recreating history and find it rather annoying especially when the selective history memory is being used to somehow denigrate another subset of the community.

Who hates fighters??? We don'tnecessarily like fightING - there's a big difference. We onlydislike people who complain about our service and then try to stiff us. The fact that you can't find an ID doesn't mean all the IDs are boycotting the server because they hate fighters. That's paranoia. This is a big part of the problem - leets and somecombat types think the game revolves around them, and that the non-combat professions should be at their beckon call 24 hours a day. When they find that not to be the case, they assume that IDs and cantina entertainersare out to get them. The reality is that manyentertainers are so poorly paid that wehave to get fighting jobs to pay the bills - and that oftenmeans no IDs in ID tents and no entertainers in cantinas. Also, some of us have real lives which keep us away from the game much of the time. Finally, the fact that leets show usnon-combat folksdisrespect a lot of the time doesn't help in keeping us interested in the game.

If you think IDs are too rare, become an ID yourself or elsetreat them with respect. In other words don't go around making accusations about them likesaying that they hate fighters. That sort of attitude can only serve to make IDs even rarer.

Since June 2004, running one of the game's first completely nonviolent characters. Testing the limits of non-combat MMORPG play and trying to have fun into the bargain (although the developers make it difficult).

Combat is no longer compulsory.

LOL I notice nobody that did the ID grind back in the day that used spice posted here. Love the one-sidedness of all this. I busted my ass and got the grind finished in 2-3 days with only spice as a buff. Spice has been here since day 1, that's a buff doll.

This new leveling system is crap, I took off for about 2 months, decided to reroll on a new server but I seriously doubt i'll pursue it now, this is just lame. The difference in time is just monumental and you can't do jack while you wait.

Cyn didn't seem to be blaming anyone, she simply said that folks that mastered ID back in the day wouldn't appreciate the pain in the ass that is the grind today. I appreciate it, I'm living it now. Everyone gets so damned defensive, y'all should stop and read once in a while before you go attacking folks that are just stating their opinions.

She also never said ID was geared for females, she said it was geared for HER tastes specifically. Again, read please.

Bunch of silly women. LOL

Not true. I got Novice ID while playing music in the cantina. You can easily do this, and it's great fun. Set a music macro to stop your dance every so often, and bung in an /image during the pause. I levelled up in a few hours while having a great time chatting to other ATK dancers and performers in the cantina. The time went by so fast, I didn't even notice it. By the end I'd levelled a musician box and I had Novice ID.

The 'grind' is only a grind if you're trying to do it while killing stuff. It workswonderfully in combination with any other entertainer skill. And that's how it should be.

You can also craft effectively. You can also 'grind' Doctor xp if you have a droid too, [set the ID dummy up on a tumble macro and you're set for nine kinds of boredom].

The only real trouble you have is if you want optimal xp rate, and want Entertainment Healing XP, so you have to make a contrast.
