Thread: Official Stance on Part Switching
I must admit - and I know I have no business being here, hehe - if the Wookiees lose their afros, the world will be a less beautiful place. They always look so.. happy with a Wookieefro.

The only way this is an expoit is if lekkus on a wookie enabled wearing of armor or some other advantage, otherwise it is an unintended visual bug. That is why the bug isbeing fixed in a publish asopposed to an expoilt that gets hotfixed ASAP. This is also whyTH did not say this was an expoilt, because it isn't.I would say the wookie with lekkus is on par with the fat old human male dancing in his underware, not an expoit btw, just very stupid. I don't want to see either as much as the next person here as it does destroy the feel to the game.
As far as business goes, this adds a new way for people to entertain themselves that would otherwise never go to an ID. It gets you exposure. I have only seen an ID once and I play two characters. The char creation screen is excellent and you can play around until you get the character you want. Some people want a change, the ID fulfills that need. I would say most people don't bother changing their char once they get them finalize. Now they are off changing their characters and are getting use to a different toon. Once the fix goes in, you'll probably see an increase in your business as people are use to changing things around.
BTW, I have yet to get my dreadlocks, though I did try. I wouldn't keep them but it would be good for a harmless laugh for about 30sec before I changed it back. Now go hit the one star button to make yourself feel better that you are somehow right and I am wrong. Though go look at the actions of the Dev team and see they are treating this as a bug and not as an expoilt if you want your offical answer on this.
This is from the swg discussion forums.
12. You will not exploit any bug in Star Wars Galaxies, and you will not communicate the existence of any such exploitable bug either directly or through public posting, to any other Sony Station member. Exploitable bugs include, but are not limited to bugs that grant the user unnatural or unintended benefits ingame.
most would know what constitutes an exploited bug if they would take a minute to read threads like this it would avoid a lot of debates. imho.
The key word that wasn't highlighted there was 'benefit'. It technically falls under an expoilt, but as there is no benefit there is no harm. So it is not thought of nor is being treated as an expoilt rather than just another bug. My guess is the wookie walking around with the lukkes is going to be recieved negatively and thought as immature, as they should be. There is no benefit there and my point stands. I wouldn't be calling these people expoilters and cheaters, just stupid. When people are dubing credits, dubing holos, gettingmaster CH in an houror expoilting a schematic to make extremely good guns with cheap tissues, then that is cheating and expoilting. Those have very real affects on game play and can greatly affect the economy and hence hender game play for many people.
My real question is when does the fat old male human dancers in their underware getting nerfed? That is far more annoying than the wookie with the fro.

Define benefit for me. I'm guessing that you have a narrow definition.Notice how the rules do not state that benefit must be in terms of *credits* or *experience* or *griefing*. If you go to an image designer, and you get a new hairdo, you get a benefit. If it were not a benefit, nobody would do it. You get to look "cool" and whatnot. This intangible satisfaction from how you look is a benefit.
There is more to this game than combat and credits. Defining "benefit" narrowly does a disservice to professions which are more geared to roleplaying than combat (i.e. image designer, tailor, architect (we don't *need* furniture), and to acertain extent musicians and dancers).
TH! I love you!
Now PLEASE tell us that it's retroactive, and the people with the cross-species styles will have them removed.
If non IDs are doing this and profiting from it, then it is an exploit that deserves attention. If a bunch of immature kids of all ages are playing Mr. Potatohead, I fail to see how that affects your business. Chances are they wouldn't be going to an ID at all. The types of players that tend to buy lots of clothes or see an ID a lot are most likely not going to stop coming to the IDs because of this bug. If they are able to selfserve when theyotherwise couldn't, then I see your point.
What this bug does do is give IDs more attention and people that would never otherwise touched the ID system are now thinking about using this system, including visiting their board. This bug does have the benefit of advertising IDs skills and how people can have fun with it. Even after the bug I suspect business would be up as people need to at least change back to their old selves if not actually wanting the service to change things up a bit.

That is exactly what is happening. This exploit can be used by any novice *entertainer*. Please get your facts straight before making arguments that it's not an exploit.
As N'Jessi says, that is what is going on. Since you seem to be SUCH an expert, why not return to the Architect forums and wax poetic about a profession you... KNOW something about?
Just a thought.
