Thread: Official Stance on Part Switching
With this level of rudeness no wonder the entertainer types are so broke. I sale items that are actually useful in this game and people need. (Not refering to useless furniture either) Even with my useful items I need to be polite to get return business. You get no sympathy from this Interior Designer. If master ID gives no command to give a wookie a fro, then you still aren't losing business to the people playing around with a bug.

I think the second sentence, more than the first one, is why entertainer types ‘are so broke’.
Meplorium, the Image Designers in here are telling you that they are losing business from this. Stop telling them they are not. You don’t need to understand it for it to be true. ![]()

See, if you don't think our profession is valuable... then how can you tell us what is or isn't damaging it?

I don't recall us asking for any from you.
I actually sent a PM to Thunderheart about this issue yesterday, when it first popped up in the Scylla galaxy forum. Unfortunately, I was asked not to relay the answer here. The most I can do is strongly suggest not to use it.
However, in the meantime, the moderators stopped by and asked me to remind you all that if any of you see anyone posting information about the exploit or a how-to on it, please report the thread to them immediately. The "report abuse to moderator" option can be found in the upper-right hand corner of the individual posts.
Everone isalso encouraged to report trolling and flaming, using this tool. If threads get too out-of-hand with personal jabs, the moderators will lock or delete them.
Thank you Rilawyn,
I realize that you can't answer every question, and thank you for being honest about that.I would appreciate it if you could find out the answer to the following questions, andkeep us informed,if the powers that be authorize your response. Both honest ID's andthose with unnatural hairdos are wonderingwhether:
- when the patch is put in, will cross-species hairdos be removed?
- presuming that the cross-species hairdos cannot be removed automatically - will the devs/csr's remove them manually if they happen to see them/get reports?
Obviously those with cross-species hairdoswant to keep their hairdos, and may not eventually "tire"of itand request to be changed back.
First furniture or clothes requires resources to build, not just a bit of mind that quickly regenerates. I wouldn't compare the two even if they have similar benefits. A well decorated shop could get more repete business. A good looking twi'lik could get bigger tips dancing. A wookie with a fro gets what again? Maybe a laugh, most likely ignored. People are using the bug to entertain themselves, which may bethe only benefit. The whole part of the game is entertainment, and the use of the bug gives no game advantage nor does it affect other people. The CH with the torton running through town to make people sick is a griefing exploit. Note no bug is being used here. There is a difference between bugs and exploits. My problem is some people aregiving theimpression thatthis some major exploit that is doing harm. It is technically a bugexploit, but if you classify it as an exploit, then call it what it is, a very minor exploit that causes no affect on game mechanics or balance issues and is only annoying to a few people. This isn't some commando using citywarn to kill a CSR.
Everyone is welcome to their opinion. Some may have some real issues with this. However it doesn't affect your game or what you can do in the game. The fat underware dancer has the same affect yet isn't being called an exploit. It is poor game play and I don't care for it. I will aggree with that the wookie with lukkas just isn't right, though I have yet to see one. Either way this bug is fixed and will be going live soon. Until then people are free to amuse themselves with silly looking characters doing harm to no one but themselves.
I've about had it with dev tracker readers breezing in to say that the exploit causes no harm to others. If I, as a tailor, was using a bug toaccessall of the architect schematics in the game, including those not available to architects (you know, like the pretty blue couches in some buildings) and started selling them in your player city, would you consider that an exploit? Would it be harming your business? You bet it would. All Image Designers are losing serious business over this, even theexploiting ones.Just because something doesn't negatively affect your profession does not mean it's not an exploit and not harmful to the gameplay of others.

*passes out cookies*
okay now everyons happy? right right? Dont make me break out my Bearded Jaxx "pootang" and lick it in front of you!
I have very little experience with these bugs. I'm hesitant to give advice about how to *un*do the bug simply because it's an exploit to do it in the first place, and therefore, knowing how to *un*do it may encourage you to *do* it in the first place. However, better that you do it and undo it, than leave it permanently looking weird. Best that you don't do it in the first place, but if you *insist* on doing it...
I *believe* that if you're let's say a zabrak, and you give yourself human hair, simply offering yourself a normal zabrak hairdo through the boring old interface will effectively change you back. I(I've had occasion to give a hirsute twi'lek her lekku back, and that was easily accomplished with the interface). However, I'm not sure that this will work with every combination - I have seen twi'leks with *both* horns and lekku and I'm not sure how putting that back will work. Maybe the "workaround" may work as noted below.
With species that don't normally have an option for hair (i.e. wookiees and mon cal) it's more tricky. I *think* the bald workaround may work in such a situation, but I haven't tried it. Here is how to do the bald workaround:
- offer hairdo (in this case using the *shudder* exploit)
- have hubby click "x" box in the corner (not accept or reject)
- offer hairdo (eew, the exploit again)
- hubby accepts
- there should be a "wig" in his inventory which he deletes
Now keep in mind the following points:
- I don't know if the bald workaround will work with exploit text
- I don't know if the bald workaround will work after the patch
- I don't know if you'll be able to change yourselves back
If you get stuck with a lizard head, I'm gonna laugh and say "I told you so." <snicker> If someone else can confirm the bald workaround - it would be nice to know, in case customers ask for me to *un*do their hair (which I'm always anxious and happy to do).
Exploits are bad.... mmmkay.
I have "fixed" people with the exploit. IF the race has hair/horns/lekku/frills/whatever, you can just ID over it normally. With a race like Mon Cal, which has no hair, it is impossible to remove the cross-species hair without a CSR ticket, which is a gigantic hassle.

Say what you want, but I think my MonCal looks awesome with horns
You may not be a n00b but other perjorative terms still apply. Despite your invitation to say what I want, I'll forgo the flaming.
