Thread: What's going on Kwee?? ALL ID'ers please read :)
How about being able to "disguise" by making covert, overt rebels and imperials. Put it on a one minute delay rather than an hour or something to avoid instant covert status.

Greetings, Image Designers!
I've read through various threads discussing what ideas for your profession, concerns over what my plans are, concerns over whether the true voices of the real Image Designers will be drowned out by other people following the red names.
I hope to make a few things clear for all of you.
First, while I may say some ideas are interesting from time to time, it does not mean or imply that I have plans of directing development in any specific direction. When I have decided how development on a particularprofession will be done, you will see a more specific design proposal showing up stating as such. Until then, when I say something "sounds interesting" I mean simply that and no more.
The Image Design profession is a unique profession and it's my wish to keep it that way. My biggest challenge, I feel, is to give your class more concrete purpose/function in the game. Doing so not only creates more interest in your class but makes it easier to validate spending additional art, programming and design resources on the profession. The Image Design profession tends to be a rather art and programmer intensive profession in order to be done properly; it's much easier to convince the powers that be to spend resources on a profession that is considered an integral part of SWG and not simply an interesting diversion to the rest of the game. That is why it is important that your profession have a valuable function within SWG that can't simply be ignored by the rest of the playerbase. At the same time I want to ensure that the Image Designer function is not simply yet another buffing or crafting class in the game; we have plenty of those already.
Second, while everyone in the game can submit their ideas for the Image Designer profession, do not fear about being drowned out. I give the greatest weight to the Correspondents of each profession. Work hard with Kwee to get your ideasdocumented and you do not have to fear about being drowned out in the noise. Kwee's reports and feedback will be my main source of information when it comes to ideas for the Image Designer.
So to summarize, think about the following:
1) What critical function can Image Designers perform in SWG?
2) How canyou and I accomplish adding this function while preserving the unique playstyle of the Image Designer?

1) Well you said your going to be putting in player bounties soon (beside jedi)... now I know theres no possible way that image designers could change your look and make you invulnerable to BH... what I was thinking is: for a few hours (would have to be ballanced) after an ID changes your looks no BH droids could detect you making it very hard for a BH to track his bounty (you)... there are a lot of problems with this as you could go to a ID every few hours and the BH would never have a chance.... so maybe if you made it so that any one with a bounty on their head could only change their look once every 24 hours or somthing (once again needs balancing...) this is just an idea I've been tossing around and it may have holes...
2) I don't think this would change the playstyle to much...
I guess you're after original ideas, so I'll avoid some of the more common suggestions... I think it'd be great to extend the concept of 'image' outside of just what a character looks like. For example:
1) Give IDs the ability to allow Merchants or Politicians to publicise themselves by placing advertisements or other messages on the bazaar or on billboards around towns. The advertisement could have a picture of the Merchant/Politician and some message (e.g., why to vote for them or where their shop is). The ID would create the advertisement which would have to be approved by the Merchant/Politician.
I think this kind of function is desperately needed - its too hard to find a decent merchant when they canonly advertise throughbastardised auctions on the bazaar or by standing in the middle of Theed yelling constantly.
2) Allow IDs to promote events, raids, etc similar to the functionality of (1).
This is just WRONG. The developers are continually asking for INPUT, and they use it as an excuse for not having DONE anything. I'm not an image designer... I just happend across this post and realised how FRICKING many DEV posts are asking for input, and how few results there ever are!
Just read through the friking forums! It's all there. It's ALL been said. Quit trying to buy time with NOTHING posts asking for information and input.
First off, a huge thanks to Kwee and Rune for all the work they do. You can please some of the people most of the time, most of the people some of the time, but never all of the people all of the time. Everyone ought to remember that before hastily criticizing the devs. ![]()
Anyway, on to what I was going to suggest. I had a few suggestions, and although I have no idea as to how easy/difficult they would be to implement, they are not repeat ideas I have heard before on these forums, in an effort to get some new ideas out there.
One idea would be to allow Image Designers to design things other than players. I know vendors have been suggested, but I wonder if designing/coloring furniture, droids, clothing, and even items would be plausible. Not sure how this would clash with already existing coloring kits, but you could make one temporary and the other permanent.
Another idea would be to allow Image Designers to design players' nametags (the ones that hover over their heads; is there a diferent term for them?). The basic name/guild/profession format is, for the moment, unalterable, but I wonder how difficult this would be to change. Players would surely love some ability to get different fonts, colors, formats, etc. This allows us the same aesthetic function, while giving us something new to play with.
A final idea deals with the interface. There are a handfull of different color schemes available for the interface, but I personally would always be interested in more. This is a bit more of an abstract and internal image design, but it is something new and plausible that is worth considering.
Hope this helps! Just tryin to stretch my brain and think of things that havent been thought of. I encourage others to use these ideas as a springboard, and hope we can all make this the best profession ever! Good luck, to everyone.
