Thread: ID State of the Profession
12.More temporary abilities - I hate temporary things, butbody paint and better make upwould be great, especially if they are permanent and are part of the markings/face lines.
Given that people still only seeking Stat Migration perfer to go to a Master ID for no readily apparant reason [maybe they want us to try to sell them on some bodywork?], I even doubt a skill redistribution [ie, taking some of the more valuable Master ID changes out of Master] would significantly improve the situation.
I just see those two goals as a bit conflicting to me, and the later goal seems a bit more important to me in keeping the profession viable.

Unforunately, that list includes some items that have already been nixed by LucasArts/LucasFilms. It'd also push any such changes as far back as "After JtL" due to numerous New Art requests
I know. It was just an illustration of an old proposal to make NIDs less gimped.

. It's a bit frustrating when we can't integrate requests too well because of art team time constraints.

State of the Profession Rough Draft - V 2
Lastly, there are onlythree types of experience now, with the step upsgranted at ID II (body modification = 150exp or 300exp) and Novice ID (stat migration = 2000 exp after Publish 9). There is no expincrease as skill increases, as is true for other professions. But exp requiredincrease at the same rate other profesions, thus making it much harder to get upper level boxs. Edit* Try getting pistol 4 using only a D18 pistol and novice skills
Stat migration
Public city tents are currently the only place stat migrations can take place. Some ID's are not doing stat migration because the tents are inconvenient to access (sayon a different planet than their residence) or because their playtime is limited and they spend a great deal of time involved in crafting or combat (in locations other than public cities).Requests to alleviate this issue include player-city-placeable tents, private-home-placeable terminals, and droidmodules.
Players are having difficulties finding ID's to migrate their stats. While the above suggestions would help, another would be to add planet registration to both public and player city tents, and also to terminals or droids if ever granted.
Otherreasons some ID's are avoiding stat migrationare the ten minute timer attached to it and the negative reactions of some customers at having to pay for the service. There have been several reports of ID's being verbally harassed when informing a player they charge for the service, or when informing a player of what that charge is. Many players while not verbally abusive have no interest in socializing with the ID migrating their stats and go afk or chat with friends leaving the ID to sit alone for ten minutes. Ten minutes is too big of a time sink. And unlike the comparable case of a starport wait, the ID has no choice but to stay put in the tent for the entirety of the wait. One way to alleviate this would be to lower the stat migration timerand put the rest of the time on the customer side.
Many IDers support the return of the old stat migration system to run long with the current ID one. This would let players fine tune their own stats (via the old system)and give them a quick way to do a major stat change (via using an IDers). Also it would put prices for stat migration under control. Plus it would great help the negativeity issues IDers now have.

Might it also be worth pointing out there that normally the player will only have to make the wait (which is probably less than 10minutes) twice in a row at most, whereas IDs dealing with customers could potentially be doing in the whole time they're in the ID tent?
