Thread: Just pay me what you feel is reasonable!!!
"The going rate is approximately 20k. If you are unable to pay that, it is very negotiable."
Most people cough up 20k without even blinking. One or two, who are obviously new chars can't pay, and I'm all good with that.
Time has value. The time that you are spending working on me, with my capricious changes, my change of stats on a regular basis and the time that you took to level up in your profession has a value.
Just because, as I have seen some people justify their lack of desire to pay entertainers, you have no material costs does not negate that you have a valuable commodity to sell, with expenses to work with. Especially with timers limiting the number of changes you can do over time.
-everyone- who provides a service should receive some type of recompense... and no, I do NOT could experience points in that recompense... when I go hunting for hides or meat or whatever for docs and tailors etc, I dont do it for free just because i get weapons or scouting experience...
Charge me a fee... let me know up front what it is... if I cannot afford it then I can either choose to spend time looking for a different ID or decide for myself if it is -worth- what you are asking... if its worth it, I have a magic box in every city that spews cash called a mission terminal that I can use to get more money for that stat migration or other change..

As a -customer- I am kinda offended when you -dont- charge for work done.

Exactly, Samtha. And, when I'm a "customer" to services, I really hate when people tell me to tip what I want. I want the fee and I want to make decisions based on that fee. In fact, I will admit that often times I feel uncomfortable when people tell me to tip what I want. I don't know if I'm being stingy, so I tend to overtip. And, in a way, that's taking advantage of my own personal guilt, if that makes any sense. I mean, these are goods and services. Set your price, compete, take part in the economy. Another reason that I have a set fee that I didn't mention before, is because I don't ever want people to have to go through any dilemma about if what they're paying me is appropriate or not. I tried the no set fee thing in the past, and I can't tell you how many people squeamishly ask me if what they're paying is appropriate. So, yes, for me, part of the reason I have a fee, is to keep people from having to go through that. This should all be based on economics and supply and demand, and the desire of the consumer to get the best possible deal. In any simulation, people who say "tip what you want" are basically taking away some of that economic enjoyment for me.
Maybe it's because I'm an accountant in real life, I dunno. But, economics within a game is an interesting, dynamic concept to me. And, I enjoy playing around and simulating economic models.
I mean, one of the reasons I stopped playing another game I used to play is because there was no economic dynamic involved. It was boring. I like "playing" with governments, and economies, and that's why I make the decisions I make in regards to personally deciding to always have a set fee. It's just more fun.

Exactly... you spend time learning the profession and time working with customers, some of whom are rude, some with unreasonable requests... I -want- your services and I -want- the ID's to keep working so I am perfectly willing to pay you for your time and patience with me...
