Thats the last time i ever say that before a stat migration. Last night i did about 7 or 8 stat migrations. I made a total of 21K. one guy only tipped me 200 credits.
Well i guess im going to have to have aset rate. What is the going rate for astat migration. I was thinking of charging around 15k. Feedback is welcome.

I've noticed this trend as well.
I am one of the ones that has reverted to "tip what you feel" .... I thought it was kinder to those that might not have much in the ways of credits..
but lately
its not paying the bills.
then again.. someone will happen along and tip me 50k for doign their haircolor -shrugs-
weird

I charge 16k per migrate simply because like you I used to do the "tip what you feel is appropriate" style, and I got jipped for it.
And also because I HATE migrations. If I'm going to do something I dislike I expect to be well paid for it.

I hope more people go back to set fees for stat migrations, but for purely selfish reasons lol..
I've always had the set fee, and for a while, it seemed like it was the going trend for IDs to "accept tips" for stat migrations rather than a set fee, which of course led to me listening to more customers complain about my set fee, because they could "easily get it cheaper from someone else". I love when they use that line as if you are supposed to care lol.I always found this a little ironic, because my set fee was already overly reasonable, but attributed it to the fact that some people are just going to complain no matter what you do. But yeah, ifthey can get away with tipping a poor ID 200 credits for their hard work, they are going to whine when they are hit with a required set fee. 200 credits?! That's like 20 credits a minute! You could get more money doing delivery missions [which is incredibly sad..]
That's like leaving a waiter a 50 cent tip at a restuarant. Sure, its payment, but its more of an insult. But hey, some people are poor, I guess, and too lazy to run themselves a few missions like everyone else. :/

it all boils down to the scornful attitude "fighters" have for every crafter, entertainer, medic, ranger... every "civil workers" as if to say.

The standard fee for stat migrations is around 10k to 20k... but can go up to 100k or more if the ID hates doing them.
It has been my experience that people who want real ID work are more likely to tip well if you tell them to pay what they think it's worth than are those who want stat migrations. I too tried doing stat migrations on a pay what you think it's worth basis once... I had one customer who came back 5 or 6 times and paid me a grand total of 500 credits. It's just not worth it. Ever since then, my attitude is: if they want real ID work, they can pay me what they think it's worth, but if they want a stat migration, they are going to pay a set fee.

What would Will smith say as a comment...
"Sometimes I told yah so... just doesn'tcut it."
that said..15K iswhat I charge for Stats.. I'm still reasonable with character changes .. people still pay good money for that, soo much good money I havn't left the trade.character changesare tip based although intuition sometimes tell me to drop a value down with some players... I guess after soo many changes you just begin to know.

Hmmmm.... I was just considering the opposite after this weekend. I was letting a new ID practice on me and playing on my slitherhorn when out of the blue I received a 1000 credit tip. I alt-tabbed out of the ID session and saw the person sitting behind me. I thanked him very much and asked if he needed any work done and he asked for a skin color change. I ended up changing his skin and giving him holoemotes. After he accepted he asked how much and I told him it was free for sweethearts.
He proceeded to tip me 10k.
Later a person came in who looked very goth zabrak. He asked if I could ID his two friends who were flying in from Tat and I said sure. They turned out to be a human and a Twill and I gave them both the goth look. One paid my set fee, one doubled my set fee, and then the "boss" who I had done nothing for tipped me an extra 50k on top of it and thanked me for making it a fun night. I was dizzy.
So now I am considering getting rid of the set fee and allowing people to show their kind colors. I haven't decided yet if the mass of under-tippers would depress me too much though. I'm thinking, after reading your post, that it might. Even if I did go tip based I think I would still charge a flat rate for a stat migrate. Especially for composite armor wearing folks. People like that seem to appreciate a no-nonsense business deal with all arrangements made in advance.

"I always work on tips so pay me what you can
" is my line.
Once i got 10 credits... lol ...but then other times i get 250k. There have been times that the moochers just frustrate me, but then some other wonderful person will come in and tell me how refreshing it is to hear a master not forcing a certain payment. (And then tip me like 100k to make up for the others that may take advantage of me)
People can be wonderful, but do things however it works for you...

I used to have people pay whatever they thought was reasonable, but after I got (more than)a few jokers in there who tipped me 1 credit, I started charging 10k. I've had very few complaints, and when I do, I just point out that some ID's on the server charge 100k for the service. Every once in awhile I'll migrate a newbie's stats for nothing or in exchange for some menial services (like, go gather 1000 units of Avian meat).

I've always gone by tips and tips alone and don't have a problem with it.
When I do get someone whom I have to spend a good bit of time on and receive little or no tip I remember their name and refuse service to them in the future. If I'm in a good mood and the client seems cheerful I let them know that if they make the session fun, it's free.

It was an ID from the forums that I got my line from: I work for tips, "but if you feel my work is worth nothing, then that's what you'll get in the future." I /addignore those who don't tip, or tip badly (and by this I mean full composite wearing guys, or ones with Master Armoursmith, etc as their tag - I *know* they can tip me better). Since I've got other ways to pay my bills (for the most part
) I just accept the bad tip and move on; the customer won't get service from me in the future, so I won't have to deal with it.
I do hate when someone will ask for IDing (stat migrations, specifically), when you're off doing something else. You trek to the Salon, wait the 10 minutes, while they're usually afk, and then they don't even give you so much as a thanks... I just go help my guild kill some Black Sun, or do a Corvette loot run to make myself feel better
Edit: Yay spelling errors!

Lately I've been charging a flat rate of 10,000 credits for a stat migration. Everything else is a rate of 1,000 credits per item altered. I also take into account how much time a styling takes. I will likely tack on an extra 1,000 credits if it took a long time to do.
