Thread: Need your input to compile a new State of the Profession :)
not an IDer anymore, and i was sad to give it up (except for the entertainment level skills), but i just needed those skill points to do something new with my character. but, the state of several professions of which i do not belong and that affect me in some way (IDers, crafters) are very, very important to me. so, i hope no one minds if i put in my word of what bugged me when i was an IDer and what i would haveloved to see and be able to do.
what i love(d) about Image Design
to me it felt like i was an artist no only out of game, but in-game too. some people that knew i was an artist IRL just knew why i choose to do Image Designing - i love doing just that, designing, creating, modifying, making things really pretty or really ugly. so, i guess once a creator, always a creator in some way, and it just never leaves you (hey, i still have my painting and drawing IRL, i can deal with that
) i still offer fellow PA members my friendly advice on clothing or image design modifications if it somehow comes up.
pet peeve
the interface was awful! hard to see what i was doing do to the lighting situations changing (light plays an important role in color. would be surprised what the difference between a "true white" lightbulb, natural light and a fluerescent light really makes.) hard to see details as well (i was very, very picky as a designer) something more like the character creation screen might be neat
ID-must have
new stuff! getting bored of seeing everyone look very similar. this doesn't just go for IDer either, i am getting bored looking at the same clothes everyday (and i have tons) same faces, face hair, same tattoos. there needs to be more diversity in general for many different professions. kwee has made two phenominal lists of not only ID stuff, but i think tailor wishes as well which i think should be taken seriously by the art department. i feel IDer has been very neglected (or maybe we just have to whine louder than we already are
)some stuff of course might be a little out there for the universe in which we play this game, but more stuff would be very, very nice.
believe it or not appearance is very important and gives people maybe a heads up into the type of character you play. people do this only a daily basis in real life as well. sometimes we hate it, but the fact of the matter is its here and its here to stay. also, people just want to look cool. there is nothing nicer than feeling you look good and you look cool. these are things people want, just not IDers, but people we have had to work for. (i lost count of how many times someone asked for full-body tattoos "but there was a screenshot of a zabrakfrom before release with full body tattoos!")
well, i hope this has been useful kwee. love that you're so active ^_^
1. It's nice to help others get the look they want. I love being able toconstantly change my own looks. The fact that, as Syzygy-Gorath pointed out, ID is atotally aesthetic profession with no real "use"in the GCWis icing on the cake
2.pet peeve: hair color bug
3. wishlist:REAL [textured] facial hair, tattoos
1. Just being able to alter appearances according to mood, profession change, occassion. Helping others feel happier about their characters.
2. Same as its been since forever ago Hair Color Bug, I want to see how they look after Im done
3. More Colors for EVERYTHING, hair, makeup, tattoos, skin, fur etc
~dissapointing that the hair bug and eye "shape" still are not fixed, just do not understand the hold up, its been an awful long time.
~ I have people asking me all the time do I have new this or that, I keep saying No, afraid they are going to give up eventually and lose interest.

An additional Wish List item...
Give Image Designers the abiilty to ID NPC vendors. In most cases, the default vendors are, uh, aesthetically challenged. ![]()
I typically have to create and destroy half a dozen vendors before I finally get one the way I want it to look. If Merchants could just specify race and species, then an ID could come in later and customize the vendor. I think this would lend itself to a whole new market in Image Design.
I second that!

# The ID"roleplays" better then any other profession. Try it out!
# The Hair-Color Bug, The Humans-not-bald-without-exploit-bug-for-which-you-may-get-banned-bug (asked a csr)
# Craftable Accessoirs, Vendor IDing
#1thing you enjoy about the profession
The feeling you get when people seek out your skills because so few players are IDs. It's nice to be wanted. ^_^
#1 pet peeve with the profession
The lack of feedback we receive from Developers. I cannot stress enough how ridiculous it is that issues like the hair change defaulting to brown have been around since beta with no word on getting resolved.
#1 wish list item for the profession
Exotic Hair Colors. Greens, Blues, Pinks, etc.
1) enjoy:
Being social at last! was a BH before and it was kinda lonely.
2) Peeve:
outstanding offer bug, not able to see chenges on person before you offer it.
3) Most wanted:
Piercings!!!!! Also customisable tattoos ( would be cool to sketch out some real life tat's and import them to the game ) Throw off bounties on players heads.

#1 wish list item for the profession
The thing I love most about image designing is the ability to make others look unique as well as myself. I think we all can agree that we need a HUGE update with MORE content. We need more hairstyles, especially for alien races, body tatoos, body piercings, wild hair colors! All these suggestions add to making others look unique.
My biggest pet peeve is that the developers treat us like a red headed step child. Since launch we have gotten jack for our profession. The only time we have gotten a fix was if the devs themselves erred, remember the Mon'cals anyone? We still don't have simple things fixed like hair color defaulting to brown when changingthe hair style fixed. Eye shape is really eye angle, we need eye shape in game. The devs are so focused on teh combat classes and thier needs that we rarely see any updates or content. Look at chefs, sure they are a craft profession, but who do thier wares cater to? Correct, mostly combat professions. I tire of the developers ignoring us. Our bugs are just as important to fix as any other classes. In fact we should be NEXT in line to get some MAJOR LOVE, as we have been long overdue ANY content or FIXES! This is second only to holocroners making a mockery of the profession I love dearly. I would request that one in every thousand characters made per server are assigned image designer as thier holo profession.
My wish list? It can go on but here: body tattoos for ALL races, scarring for face and body, body piercings, WILD hair colors, and please please, allow MASTER Image Designers to increase/decrease body/face parts by 100% than the character creation. This can easily be done at face forms and body forms 2-4, each in crease will allow you to resize/reduce said part by an additional 25% and finally at master image designer a full 100% reduction/increase. PLEASE FIX OUR BUGS and give us our EYE SHAPE!
