Thread: Brainstorm: Force Sensitivity

I feel like a traitor for saying it, but I don't actually want any bonus I can think of for FS IDs. For one thing, the Dev's would never give us anything we want - expanded pallettes or options, sliders going past limits, etc - and what they would give us would probably be something like a shorter timer, or some idiotic bonus to stat migrations, just to make sure we get enough kicks in the face while we're on the ground. I wouldn't really object to timer bonuses (for four skill boxes of FS, make it -5sec, -5sec, -10sec, -15sec?) but to keep the timers play balanced they'd have to be small, and then they'd be pointless. I wouldn't personally like to see FS ID's get powers the rest of us don't have, because force sensitivity is supposed to be a subtle effect that the character in RP is unaware of. Being able to glow blue, for example, doesn't fall into that category.

I lie a little. The only bonus I wouldn't mind seeing would be extended-use holoemote generators, or holoemote generators that recharge faster (not tons faster, maybe capping at a 30second recharge rate for a fully FS ID). This wouldn't change the grind to ID, like timer changes would, and it would be a reasonably decent thing to have with force sensitivity. Personally I like holoemotes, so a faster recharge would be pretty nice.

Assuming things stay like they are right now for the most part:

I think IDs should get specific skills like other professions (+5 Hair Styling Selection, +10 Hair Colour Speed, +20 Body Shape Range, etc.) and then just get bonuses for force sensitivity. I'd hate to see a great feature like particle effects isolated toso fewplayers. If not, reduced timers really aren't THAT bad an idea, and it'd be easy to implement.

Maybe we could get the ability to add a custom line of text under a character's name floaty thing, under their profession title.

How about force sensitive Image designers can change a players profession tag to something they don't actually have

I concur with the idea that force sensitivity should NOT grant new abilities. It just doesn't make a lot of sense.

Force sensitivity should enhance existing skills in subtle ways. About the only thing I can think of for ID is a timer reduction. One can sort of imagine a force-sensitive ID being able to expressthe client's inner self in a more evocative fashion, but there is no sensible way to translate that concept into a game mechanic.

I agree that there shouldn't be so much emphasis on Jedi, but I think people strongly overestimate the effect FS has on crafters especially. A +20 to survey will not give a crafter so much of an edge that non-FS crafters cannot compete. Likewise, experimentation bonuses do not give an FS crafter anything a non-FS crafter doesn't get, they just make the FS crafters a little more convenient... not to customers, but to themselves. A common misconception is that FS crafters get bonus experimentation POINTS... that is not the case. They just have a higher chance of SUCCESSFUL experimentation. That's handy, but it's not the be-all end-all of crafting, at best it means they save some rare resources by having to do fewer experimentations to get a good schematic. They still have the same number of experimentation bars to use, so they can't make items that are overall better than a non-FS crafter can do. So it shouldn't affect competitiveness at all... an FS crafter's items are not innately better than a non-FS crafter's.

As for fighters, well, I don't play combat characters much, but it seems to me they're the sort of people to really want an FS character anyway, so I don't see how it bothers them much. I've not heard combat chars complaining about the FS idea at all.

That's another reason why I don't approve of a timer bonus. It makes FS ID's able to level faster, and makes themfar more desirable to clients. We should try to keep FS as a fun but not imbalancing bonus.

I agree 110%, It's just Runesabre way to extend the end game of all the professions in a feeble attemp to keep as many players from canceling. Personal I'm quiting becuase of his actions. Shame this game has had so much going for it. /sigh He just does not think thing thru

Force sensitivity could allow us to access extreme slider settings :

1st box : extreme facial features : manga-like eyes, frog mouth, angelina lips, jumbo nose and ears...

2nd box : extreme body feature: weight from anorexia to full blown obesity, muscles from peewee to schwarzy.

3rd box : extreme size and muscles : frommini-me to king-size

4th box : etreme torso (only the most gifted in the force should be allowed to reach such extreme money-making feature)

this was my nonsensical (or is it ?) weekend statement.

Can we give a holoemote that makes people go all blue and glowy in game? I remember a zillion years ago reading if you made it to Jedi Master and then permadeathed, you would become blue and glowy a la dead Jedi from the movies. Is there a good reason for it? No, not so much I guess. But I've always wanted to do it. Heck, maybe you could just give yourself the glowy blue avatar and run around and prank people -- "I have joined with the Force and moved beyond this plane, and I'm not telling you how to do it! Neener neener.".

On a more rational note, reduction for timers, increase in time for holoemotes (though I haven't had much call for those lately).

Ooh! The ability to gain benefits from a tent while not in said tent? Pretty pretty please?

I think sensitivity powers should be allowed to be allocated to lower the id timer... at least on stat migrations if anything

Most memorable SWG quotes:
"You lookin fer summat?"
"Get on board the falcon kid. This place is gonna blow." (How can you forget something you've heard over 100 times in a row?)
