Thread: Suggestions for Image Designer

Personally, I loathe any idea which *forces* other players to come to me for services. I don't want some combat monkey coming to me because his food screwed him over and are hampering his running skill. He doesn't want to have to deal with me and I don't want to have to deal with him.
I don't want dancers to have to come to me every two or three days for hair and cosmetics.
The camoflage should go to the rangers, not IDers.
Im not trying to change your precious profession. Im saying to add new features, useful to earn money or recognition from more people.

At the beginning, all professions in SWG were simbiothic. Then even IDs could help you to make better work your profession (stat migration). But now... who really needs an ID?
Actually, IDs *are* useful for improving *some* people's game experience. Just because *you* do not think so, doesn't mean it isn't true. Plus, as it was mentioned before, the stat migrations were added a year after launch and then removed. WE happen to be happy about it. Also, an ID has never had a symbiotic relationship, except as another person who can enhance someone's experience in game.
1. One does not *need* new clothes. Yet, by having great outfits, tailors enhance people's game experience.
2. Changing colours of your speeder or spaceship isn't a *needed* thing. However, changing the colour of these items *does* enhance *some* people's game experience.
You are entitled to your opinion. You don't have to visit an ID. However, to come into our forum and then diss our profession? Totally not cool. To diss those who *do* feel our services add to the game experience? Not cool either.
I have a suggestion. Just don't use one if you don't like it.

You are free to choose what monkey you offer your services. Im a combat monkey, but a roleplayer too, and I try every two or threeweeks to change my hairstyle. IDs are each time harder and harder to find in Radiant. But i know some people are only worried about combat abilities. You only have to avoid that people, from all that would look for you if they need you for personal training.
I don't want dancers to have to come to me every two or three days for hair and cosmetics.
Why? Is it not a way to rely with people? That could be a lot of work, but after Publish 20, without BF, other group of entertainers will surrender his professions.

Yes, well thought, i agree.
People that enjoy entertaining will stay entertainers. People who are doing it for the "wrong" reasons can leave if they want to.
Furthermore, any entertainer would at least have some basic cosmetic skills and could change their own lipstick, even if it's on a very limited pallette. Moreover, I like to think the cosmetics don't fade because they're kinda of like a temporary tattoo. They can be removed and changed with ID technology, but they stay put. That or technology has finally brought us no-budge make up ![]()

I'm basing much of this off your opening title, " Suggestions to make back IDs useful again". First of all, we are useful. That is what I was responding to, as we do feel we are useful.
If you read the threads in the stickies, you would know what we want, what will work and what won't. We have a specific thread for suggestions; you are free to add yours there.
1. We don't need new "features". We need content.
2. Useful to earn money? I made 250k with three ID sessions. I think I'm pretty useful already.
3. My reputation as an honest and talented ID is the only recognition I need.
Maybe if your posting "tone" wasn't offensive (examples are how we're not useful and my "precious" profession) and maybe if you read more about what we want and don't want, my tone with you would not be so sharp.

My point is basically that I don't want ANYONE to **NEED** me. I want them to WANT my services.
People resented having to go to Image Designers for stat migrations. If you think that ANYONE who uses food and gets fat from it is going to be pleasant for me to deal with, I think you're sadly mistaken.
If you think that someone who is FORCED to have a hairstyle or make up redone every three days isn't going to blame the Image designers for such a thing, you are again sadly mistaken. As a profession, we got some SERIOUS abuse laid on us when the devs dumped Stat migrations on us.
Someone who wants an esthetic change rather than a forced stat change is not going to resent my profession, and is more likely to pay for and enjoy a session with me... and I am more likely to enjoy interacting with them.
My apologies if the term 'combat monkey' was offensive to you. It's a term we use in my table gaming sessions and probably wasn't good to use here. For us, it just means someone who very heavily participates in the combat aspects of a game.

QFE!!!
Exactly. I don't want our profession to turn into one that players *need* again. I like that people want to use our services. The forced stat migration was horrid. I hope we never have to go through that again.
I think I may be the only person who enjoyed the stats migration thing?
I mean yes, some guys werecomplete jerksabout it, but they are the same ones who complain about everything. "you dont use resources why do i have to pay?" I thought it was great because it forced a lot of males to come, and then while we were waiting that 10 minutes they would often request aesthetic changes as well (didnt you notice after stats that our galaxy becasme increasingly more good looking?) It made people who would have never othewise come to an ID, come to ID's. I dont miss stat migrations at all, but i did like the fact that it brought a whole new clientel.
Holoemotes are similar. I get a lot of comabt people who come to get them. They use the imperial or rebel symbols during pvp matches if they are needing help, but everyone complains that they dont last long enough. *schrug* cant make everyone happy, but Im damn willing to try. ![]()

I think it depends on your server. Some of us are on more...jerk-filled...servers than others.
I think also that many of us just hated being stranded in the tents for *hours*, taking abuse and dealing with all the cantina spam.

There were a lot of issues that contributed to the fact that stat migrations ended up being unpleasant. After the timer was shortened, I found the interactions much more pleasant, because people didn't mind chatting for four minutes versus ten. I think the biggest change that would have made stat migrations more pleasant is the ability for ID's to register in the tents, so that customers would not have to search for one. A customer who has been searching for a few days is generally a snappish customer.
Agreed. Plus, if they put the tent in *all* NPC cities, it would have been helpful so as you would not have to be stranded in one all day/night so far away from your city/guildmates.
