I apologize if my posting tone looks offensive, but doesnt really. In the other part, combat monkey is not an offensive term for me, and never was.

The truth is that ID is a minority profession. I understand what you like about the Image Designer, but really id like to see more IDers and something like my ideas would offer more interests in the profession. If you think ID is now useful in global terms of the game, we dont think in the same way. I understand you preffer to keep away of the grinding and combat world, but yours is the same game, and this is a game of skills and abilities. Not all players get impressed by my new hairstyle, only two or three play their role with me. But all players would affected by a modifier or bonus to any skill provided by an IDer.

And when i go to the cantina so see an entertainer i dont watch the prettiest dancer, i usually watch the most unexperienced entertainer, to give her more experience (and i do /examine to the prettiest one).

You earn 250k per session? Good for you. I have to force to chargeme to my usual IDer for a new hairstyle change because id not like she left the profession (i would have to look for another ID, and itsharder each time).

You presume of talent and reputation? Good for you. You shine even more you think.

But do you understand what im trying to say?

I think some people have the wrong idea about ID.

I have been a Master ID since 1 month after launch (that 2 years straight now) Im the oldest Master ID on my server. However, I am also a master Pistoleer. I have 7 masters under my belt, all of them grinding or combat professions. Im now grinding towards jedi. Not all ID's are pretty girls sitting in the corner of a cantina. I love to make people look the way they want as much as I love to slaughter rebels.

Now, ID is the forgotten profession. The b*stard child in agame that is build around combat. However, as you'll notice with recent publishes, the devs are trying to force us to integrate more with each other, all professions. They gave dancers/musicians buffs, then replaced with insp buffs, no problem. They gave us stats, then took them away without replacing them. Its ridiculous. They did the loot revamp, dropping schematics that forced us to look to other professions to make them. Professions we dont usualy comeinto contact with regularly. I agree that they need to do something to force people to interact with us. I think that as a male player dominated game, ID's are usually forgotten (or worse mistaken- mistaken for tailors, wth is that about?)

When stats came out, it was around the time people were grinding for holos. There were ID's everywhere. I was forced to quit charging for sessions, and work for tips. I havent charged for ID since that publish, and I dont mind at all. I make my money from vendors, doing missions, and tips from happy returning customers. My customers know I've been around 2 years, they know i'll never NOT be an ID. I pride myself on my love of the profession and the consistancy to whichI apply myself to the profession.

A long ways back, chef was the least played profession. They gave it a revamp, and now people can hardly get by without a good chef. Someday, they'll do that for ID. Now we're the least popular profession, but Im glad for that. I got tired of competing with people who grinded it out to make a quick buck, people who had no love or respect for the profession. I still do at least 1 ID a day, if not more. The profession is not useless, and it is still important.

As for quality of game? It improves MY quality of play when I have people who have been coming to me regularly for 2 years. When someone sends a tell saying "oh wow, you're still an id?" or "you are the best ever glass" it improves my game play. When my friends can use the holoemotesI give them to help in pvp, it improves my gameplay. When a new jedi gets their alt, and they come to me excited to experiment with a new species or gender, or even to have it made up as a clone, it improves both our game play.

But thats just me, and I've said enough for now. Till next time...

3. My reputation as an honest and talented ID is the only recognition I need.

Thank you! I never put up a profession tag over my head. My bio has a mention that I'm a master ID. Thatbio noteand my listing on the sticky in this forum are the only direct marketing I do. However I do keep busy as an ID, and make a decent amount of coin in the process. I'd saymore than 90%of my business is either repeat customers, or recommendation from previous customers repeat or otherwise. Less than 10% come from reference to this forum or from reading my bio.

I'm not in the ID business tomake money, though when I do it's nice.I'm in it because I like helping people be happywith thieravatar. Whenever I"m in a a session with a customer, and they ask advice, I do give it, but I also always add the caveat that they have to live with it all the time, I don't. They have to be happy with staring at it all the time. You like the way the avatar looks, it definatly enhances the game experience.

Outside of COH, I don't knowof any game that allows for significant character look change post character creation. Sure we fill a niche market. I'm okay with that. I know that other ID's wouldpossibly like or prefer that we do more. I'm okay with that too.

So, I guess the wholepoint of this rambling post is just to voice support for Gothy's 3 points of which I only truly quoted 1...

well, there is a metric ton on both the servers I play on primarily: Gorath and Kettemoor. Most of them are not registered on this site. I've sat in the Theed Cantina with 3 other MIDs and all with lines of customers.

I don't know how much more interesting you can make it.

Gorath: Sti-fi Osp-ro - Domestics Trader
Gorath: Honeewoo - Master Entertainer
Kettemoor: Honeewoo - Master Entertainer
Kettemoor: Yohai Darksun - Master Entertainer
