Instant chat in SWG (ason IRC)is one of the best interface feature I've seen in all MMORPGs. Too bad I've only seen it on SWG. No other MMORPG I've tested featured this, no matter how customizable they were.

EQ2 is very customizablewith windows and bindings, but doesn't support instant chat. That's something I really miss

i have tried the WASD setup from other MMOs and online games..
in my view, it is a great setup.... if youre playing action games/MMOs...
like counterstrike...
when i play other MMORPGS that uses the WASD i HATE it...
You just cant communicate properly..
i always forget using the enter key before talking... which means that when ill try to talk to other players i end up either running away or having loads and loads of windows i have to shutdown, wasting several seconds
the SWG alt-setup is perfect and i love it!
unless the CURB adds element of action/tactical movement to the combat i will see no reason to change from the old setup.
so feel free to add these new setups.. but dont you dare remove the old alt-setup

Remember, there are TWO new interfaces. One of them is typical MMOG (wasd) the other is SWG.

You don't have to hit enter to chat in the new SWG version of the interface either.

How do you say something then?

It appears that you have to click in the the window you want to type in or start with a letter that isn't mapped to anything.

I untimately found this to be to confusing. Once rotating my view with the left mouse button using the arrow keys to move moves you forward in relation to the direction your character is facing, my brain wants to go the way 'I' am facing into the screen. I was not able to set it back to the 'normal' SWG keymap, although I am trying a relog. I also could not figure out how to drag items into the toolbar as it is trying to move my view because I'm holding the mouse down. Hopefully that's just a bug but either way I'll say it's definatley not for everyone.

A little while ago it was made so that if number lock was off and you truned it on. Not only did it make you auto-run, but it made it so that if you turned the camera and the number lock was on via using the 4 and 6 buttons the you got 444444444444 or 6666 in your chat bar..... Thats what i think he was talking about. its a bit annoying toHAVE to turn numberlock off everytime i first log in. But not game breaking.....Hope this helps.....

P.S. thankfully when you use the keypad and the numberlock is on it doesnt spam 5......As thats where i mapped TeamSpeak.....

Hmm...is hitting the alt key that hard? To me SWG has the best interface/user control system of any MMO I've played. Besides, using alt to switch in and out of "drive mode" (as it was called since before beta if I recall correctly) seems quite intuitive.

I guess as long as I can keep my setup throughout the GUIenhancements and the control changes I'll be a happy camper.

Instant chat is the most important feature of the SWG setup. Please - whatever you do - keep that enabled per default.

its not as bad as you guys are thinking. give it a try on test center.

the only thing i dont understand is why the mouse controls are different between the EQ2 and newSWG setting.

the EQ2 mouse setting, and the newSWG keyboard setting is the best setup....and i dont wanna have to use the eq2 setting and remap the keys

For the love of (insert anything you love greatly here) please leave an option in there for the current control set! The entire reason I DONT play other games is because I love how SWG operates and functions. Go ahead and add allthis in by all means for the players who want it but PLEASE leave a choice for the current control set for those who like how it is.

We are not changing any of the current options. We are adding new options to the interface is all.

And stop telling Tyrant about bugs that I've already sent in and know about! When he says he'll have it looked into, that means someone comes and bugs me thinking I've dropped the ball.

I keed, I keed.

Not true, I just didn't know about it is all. We will get it fixed.

P.S. I play on a portable without a keypad, so I had not seen this in my own play was all.

It's Sunday, Tyrant... You should be spending time with the family.

I would tell the same thing to Tiggs, but I know she wouldn't listen to anything as silly as that
