Wow! I really like the EQ2 interface, and I didn't think I'd like anything more than the default interface. Nice work, guys, looking forward to seeing this go live!

these changes worry my only because I don't understand what they are.
I have only played SWG, and these are the only commands I know ... will I be able to keep them if I choose to?

Yes, you can keep the setup that you are used to.

I've spent hours perfecting the interface which is mostly EQ based. I can do almost everything except chatting without moving my left hand from the keyboard or right hand from the mouse. This new keymap isn't optimal either. For example, clearing the combat queue is something that should be done without moving the left hand (I remapped this to §).
Bottom line - I hope we can keep using our own keymapping. Or I'll be confused and will die a lot!

I'm not a very big of change when I'm comfortable with something.
Right now I love the SWG controls and interface... Unlike other MMORPGs SWG's controls are simple and easy to use and don't involve me using the keyboard for much other then chatting.
Am I going to have to get comfortable with the new settings or will I be able to keep the current settings that I been using for over a year now and am comfortable with?

I hated the EQ2 controls.
See... EQ2 and other MMORPGs use the keyboard for combat primarily and then chatting secondly.... That doesn't work for me. MMORPGs are about socializing and having fun with other people so therefore the keyboard should be primarily for chatting and then combat secondly, how SWG has it and UO too.
Not many people talk on EQ2, EQ, WoW, etc... Why? Because the game wasn't designed for chatting. It was designed just for leveling and playing a game. As where UO and SWG were designed for chatting and living a virtual life.

WTH are you all talking about liking EQ2's interface... I bought EQ2 and won't bother going back to finish getting off the newb boat and start actual play the interface is so annoying I don't want to bother. Give me SWG's interface in EQ2 and I might give it another chance.

the only thing different in the newSWG control, is the mouse
but the eq2 mouse setting is a lil different than the newSWG one
in the newSWG keymap, the keys are the same, but for the eq2 keymap you have to hit enter to start chatting
i prefer the eq2 mouse control and the swg key setup

I am getting a little suspicious here... properly just some paranoid part of be, but first the Num Lock for autorun in broken in the normal SWG interface, and then that announce a New SWG interface... What are the odds that Num Lock was broken when some of the code to get the new system to work was put in?
Better get a tin foil hat. This was coded in the last week.
P.S. I didn't know about that bug and will have it looked into, when did it first happen?
This bug started happening with the Japanese localization and we will be looking into this further for a fix. Part of my job is making sure the bugs that everyone posts are sent on to QA to betested and entered into our bug tracker and made known to the producers. Tyrant doesn't always have knowledge of these so feel free to direct those questions to me. After all he has so much to do already! =)

I love my own custom setup thank you very much
. I doubt many could play SWG with my customization without getting VERY familiar with it.

I like the EQ2 mouse control... But I like the SWG mouse control too.
I also liked the EQ2 interface. Just like SWG it is 100% customizable except for the color schemes.
But controls... SWG > EQ2.
Chat needs to come before everything else as these games are online. I REALLY hated EQ using 1-0 instead of the F keys.. That was so annoying.

(reading between the lines)
And stop telling Tyrant about bugs that I've already sent in and know about! When he says he'll have it looked into, that means someone comes and bugs me thinking I've dropped the ball.
I keed, I keed.
