The SW Christmas special was just so poorly done.
It looks like it was all shot on a closed set... Similar to how they shoot sitcoms except for the closed part and the SW set looking incredibly fake.
And the story was just stupid. I can't even remember why the wookies were being held hostage in their own home. But I do remember something about a wookie falling... lol
I plan on trying to watch it again though sometime before Christmas passes.

No xmas gifts?
How about you guys put in a code that makes spammers come up in bounty hunter terminals?
I cant think of any better gift than that.
Its simple..... hard-code an AFK tag on players that have no input for over 1 hour. Then have server put those spammers on BH terminals for 1k payouts (id do it for free really).

I dislike the way you assume that I am absolutely unhappy with this game and would be better off leaving for another game because I am upset by the decision of the developers to not celebrate Christmas in such a manner as they did last year and that most every other MMORPG does. As I said before, UO was my first MMORPG and has set my standard. In every MMORPG I have played for more then a week, there has always been a way to celebrate real-world holidays.
Last year SWG gave us a Christmas present disguised as a "holiday present" on Christmas day. The holocron was unimaginative and the art work was meh. But it was still a nice gesture. Ever since I have been looking forward to next Christmas to see what kind of gift we'll be getting which would remedy the gift of last year. Unfortunatly, we do not.
That does not mean I am unhappy with this game. As I already stated, if I were unhappy with this game on every level I wouldn't be playing and I most certaintly wouldn't be giving my advice out for free as it costs me MY TIME. And why I would I spend time handing out suggestions for a game I don't enjoy? Doesn't make sense.
Whether you condemn one voicing their opinion or encourage it, your response in saying I should quit over voicing mine demonstrates a disapproval you have for such efforts. Which is why I say I dislike people like you... Those on these forums who believe that posting a suggestion or complaint right away means that person must hate this game and shouldn't be playing it... When actually its those people who put the time and effort into addressing the games flaws and making suggestions that enjoy the game the most as they are doing their part in helping the game flourish.
And no you are not supressing me from voicing my opinion as you have no such power but you are countering every opinion I make with the suggestion that I should leave.
I am a MMORPG fan. I been a video game for the longest time but ever since finding UO, I have a hard time playing games that are not online. I have become a huge fan of the MMORPG genre. What seperates SWG from EQ2 and WoW though is that EQ2/WoW is merely a game of leveling as where SWG creates a virtual world in which you can make a life for your character... It's not just getting from one level to the next. Also, there is homes (As flawed as they may be) and mounts/vehicles and vanity aspects to the game (Such as ID and tailor)... All of which help create that feeling of a secondary world. The only other MMORPG which succeds at those points is UO which unfortunatly died when EA Games got ahold of it.
I am a SW fan though. Not to the point where I dress up costumes and study the history of the SW universe, but I do enjoy the fantasy of it and escaping into the world. Playing SWG makes me want to watch the films and watching the films makes me want to play SWG... They go hand in hand!
And I have to say I did put an effort into getting back into SWG. I could've just as easily put that effort into EQ2 or WoW but instead I chose SWG. That is where that comes from. And I am hoping that, that decision doesn't turn out to be wrong, which I don't think it will but! With such actions as this in not celebrating Christmas or the "holiday" (Which in SWGs history has been the only holiday they made an effort in celebrating) I have to wonder if I made a mistake and question the developers integrity.
The game feels empty and cold as it is without any background music and most cities are dead. An ingame celebration of Christmas or any holiday helps make the game feel more alive . Otherwise it is always the same with nothing to really look forward to. But I guess we will see how things turn out in the coming months when the combat rebalance finally gets published which should clear the door for new content.
And as stated all above... The developers not doing anything ingame for Christmas or any other holiday doesn't form my opinion on the game altogether. No one can say the game is not empty as it is, but aside from that (and the bugs) SWG is the only MMORPG to live up to what the late UO was with many pros and cons. A con, for example, is housing. The item cap, lot consumption and maintenance don't make any sense and renders most homes useless except for the small one. And a pro is the ease of communication within the game and the customizeable UI.
But still, the developers celebrating no holiday ingame and now turning their back on Christmas -- Which was established last year as being a holiday they DO make an effort to celebrate ingame -- I really have to wonder on the integrity of the developers and the future of this game. Look at the story arcs... What happened to them? Looks like all holiday celebrations will be disappearing as well.
And again, the celebration of RL events ingame helps make the game more enjoyable and realistic. Also helps the player to relate to the virtual world and their character and see that the developers are REAL people.
The filtering of Christ I find to be done more out of spite then as a "favor" to Christians because I sure as heck don't find it as any favor to me but instead as a means to attempt in whiting it out. And when you look at how Allah and Buddah and the like can be said ingame, you have to wonder... Why would they do us Christians a "favor" but then do no such thing for Muslims and Buddhists and every other known religion to man? Doesn't really add up. And if Christmas is going to be blocked so can Ramadan and Hannukah as they have ties to religion.
More so then the chat filter, I don't appreciate it being blocked out from text input fields. Such as house titles and vendor titles and vendor messages. I remember trying to make a backpack last year to use it as wrapping paper. Was shocked when Merry Christmas wasn't allowed. I had to double the i's.
And in RL I don't shop at any stores that substitue Christmas with Holiday.. I do the same ingame as it doesn't take much effort to get pass that filter.
In closing: Merry Christmas.

I personally do not get why people put so much stock into an ingame christmas present.
Do not most of the people in this "game" cry about timelines and not being "star warsy" enough?
how is it "star warsy" to have christmas in game?
Christmas in game is known as life day. Now alot of you are going to quit due to the present you got wasn't what you all wanted?
well guess what?
WELCOME TO THE REAL WORLD.
If i had a dime for every time i didn't get what i wanted, i probably good afford a really good gift right now. lol
i cannot belive "but should" how childish a large majority you all are.
I quit cuz i dont get a christmas present... well. there is the door. dont let it.. actually .. let it hit you time and again til most of you get some sense and wake up.
Complaining about no christmas gift IS NOT STAAAAAAAAAAAAR WARSY.
Deal With It.

LOL...
And getting a Christmas tree in UO was VERY Ultima Onlineish... Right?
And towns being decorated for Christmas in Vana'diel and taking part in an Easter egg is VERY Final Fantasyish... Right?
And pumpikin launchers on Earth and Beyond is SOOOO spacey... Right?
And the Santa suited orcs in Everquest was EXTREMELY Everquesty.. Right?
No, it's not.
But you are missing the point, it is fun and enjoyable. It's a little change to the game for one day which everyone can take part in and have fun with.
Nothing wrong with it.

Every religion and every race and every nation and every group has their few.
That is why it is best to not judge an entire group by the actions of one or a few because not every one apart of that group is going to act like that.
In fact, just because people are apart of the same group doesn't even mean they share the same views and opinions. Like political groups... No two people are going to see eye to eye, ever. Same with religion.
But nonetheless... In America it only takes one loudmouth to 'cause an uproar which the media hounds in a, usually, biased way. And that is where all the problems come from.

I know I said I was done, but you missed my point so I'll set the record straight on a few points then leave.
First, as far as whiting out Christ, when was the last time you heard say someone say "Allah" or "Buddah" as a curse? As for me, never. Just whiting out Christ for the sake of not allowing anyone to use it would be silly. Pesonally, I prefer it this way.
Second, I never said you should leave because you voiced an opinion. I suggested you leave because you A) seem very unhappy about the game and the Devs and B) said in fact that you were going to leave when that other game Tabula whatever is coming out. My point is that people that are as bothered about insignificant points such as in game holiday celebrations to the point that they are going to leave for another game over it and refuse to buy any game made by the same developers as those in SWG should stop tormenting themselves by playing this game. At no point did I ever say you should leave over your opinions. You have so twisted what I said that it doesn't even resemble what I said.
Third, when you say the developers decision doesn't reflect on your opinion of the game at all, I suggest you go back and look at your posts in this thread. You'd come to a different conclusion if not for any other reason than they come in a post about the holiday gift.
Fourth, I don't see how celebrating Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving, Halloween or any other holiday will make Star Wars seem more realistic. The fact is Star Wars took place a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. They didn't have these holidays. Throwing them into the game makes Star Wars seem like something else despite the lousy Christmas special. Its really irrelevant what other games have decided to do. I thought the pumpking chuckers were stupid in EnB. But at least that game was set in our universe, and they could get away with it.
And for the record, I don't really care whether you like me or not. I don't know you, and your opinion of me doesn't matter in the least.
Enjoy your holiday, Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year.

Life day is great.... Thankyou Devs.
I love how it was done this year compared to last year.
I don't see any reason to add more gifts but... Could you increase the ground and space loot drops a bit starting next week through the 1st of next year?
I think the last patch or publish went the other way and decreased both ground and space loot drops.
At least it seems that way to me.

Well, maybe not "safe" per se, but at least you don't have to fight anything to do it. I was lucky enough not to get attacked by anything that could actually knock me off my bike. But even a novice artisan could do the quest without too much difficulty.

You must not know the Bible or are not familier with Revelations. For if you were familier and stopped to take a look at the world around you... You would understand where I am coming from with Christ being whited out. I can't make it any more clear for you except for pointing out additional examples in our world today. But you have eyes and ears.
A) Unhappy with the current state of the game. Or no, happy atm but fearful of what is going to happen when I get master pilot and finish my ground grind. But am unhappy with the lack of additions to the game since launch.
B) When Tabula comes out... It is not a fact but a possibility. I am a fan of MMORPGs and like to have one to play. UO died. All others have nothing in them that appeal to me. All that is left is SWG and Tabula. However, little is known about Tabula. All I know is that the guy from UO is apart of it and that it will feature homes of some kind. Assuming it will be like UO and SWG doesn't pick up... Yes, it is a fact I'll leave. But if this game picks up and Tabula has instanced homes... It's up in the air.
As for the developers... Me not buying anything from them after SWG I have determined long before this occurance. Many of the developers actions and their idle stance on many issues with SWG has escalated over the year to where I won't buy anything they are apart of after this. It's not just like: Oh, they aren't doing Christmas this year, dislike the developers. That is just the icing on top.
And you keep making these irrelevant points with celebrating RL holidays ingame but continue to miss mine. UO was set back in the renaissance days in a world that never existed. How would they justify Christmas gifts? They don't. It is just something nice the developers do for the community and even themselves. It is fun and enjoyable by everyone. And something to look forward to.
