The only holiday event are the LIfe Day events, but I encourage everyone to check them out. There is a robe, paintings, and the orb that players can get.

While I will say that the way the Life Day Event was carried out was a good idea, I wasn't too thrilled about the gift. I got a painting (Eclipse) and an orb (Intrepid). A wookiee plant like the aurellian one would have been cool. Or something else more "useful".

But yeah, even if you just kept clicking "yes wookiee" during all the speech, you had to at least caught a bit about what Life Day was about. So that was pretty cool.

What about the grand majority of people who DO celebrate Christmas for both the religious purpose and the tradition of bringing families together? Christians, Catholics, Jewish, Athiests... Most all celebrate Christmas.

The developers, along with the rest of this crumbling nation, are already whiting out Christmas by replacing it with "holiday" in an attempt to rid the world of Christ. It's enough you can't even name a vendor or house or item in SWG Christmas but you can Channukah or any other "holiday."

Please please spare me... two things not to talk about with ppl you hardly know...politics and religion...

Damn, why can't more people be like us? I couldn't care less if someone wants to pray to God, Allah, Budda, or whatever. I still bow my head when someone prays at Thanksgiving.

It's called "respect for others". Some people need to learn it.

youre right, those of us who profess to be athiest are actually very tolerant when it comes to anothers beliefs

Sorry, but there will be no "automatic" Christmas gift this year.

I do want to thank the events team for pulling all of the Life Day events together though.

WAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I mean come on you did it last year, so people expected it this year. You did life day last year so people expected it this year. If you guys weren't going to give us anything for the holidays then you should have mentioned it much earlier than december 18th. This is annoying, everyone I know had there hopes up for all different kinds of things, but all would accept whatever they were given. It is one thing to give and another to receive, yet it is a whole different thing to expect and then to be shot down a week before.

This is a sad sad holiday gesture.

WOW!! something for nothing, huh... refresh my memory but i don't remember the world working that way

I was wondering if anyone here knows if this is the only gift that we get this year. I mean two of the things were out last year and then some get lucky and get one of the new paintings.
Well what if I got an orb but still got mine from last christmas. Would that be equal to getting coal in my stocking? Or will we log in christmas morning and have a present in our inventory. Last year we all got holos plus the wookiee life day gifts.
Not that anyone knows yet but rumors are alwyas something to think about when you have a long day of work to do yet...

/sigh

I regret getting the expansion 3 weeks ago and putting so much effort into getting back into SWG... Should've stayed with WoW or went back to UO or even EQ2.

On UO they would celebrate every Christmas and every other holiday with gifts. When you logged on Christmas day you would get a deed that let you choose from several little gifts. It was something nice that the developers of UO did for the community and everyone enjoyed it. This has also became the standard I look for in MMORPGs... Something to help celebrate significant holidays in reality.

This really doesn't even anger me but depresses me in both the lack of Christmas spirit in the developers of SWG and in the integrity. If you "developers" can't even find a way to help celebrate Christmas or even the freaking New Year, how can I believe you will pull through with addding content to this game and brining professians up to par? It doesn't take much creativity or effort to give us a present for Christmas or even the new year.

Heck, even the vet reward was a rip off. It is for those who played for half of SWG life span... What the heck about people like me who been here since the start?!? What do we get? Nothing. Then considering the fact you can only have 1 active MP ship if you choose to place items in it. When are we ever going to get to use that yacht? Why would I decorate the yacht which is useless in combat over the other MP ship that has use in combat? Makes no sense.

This really upsets me and causes me to question both the future of this game and the integrity of the developers. It's enough Christmas is filtered ingame forcing everyone to use Holiday, or at least those who aren't creative enough to find a way pass the filter. As where in FFXI Christmas is not filtered and Christmas is celebrated ingame through presents and interactive quests, such as how Easter was celebrated ingame.

Honest to God... If WoW or EQ2 tops this absolutely asinine "life day" I will be tempted to put the same effort into enjoying one of those games as I did with coming back to this one.

And I am a fan of MMORPGs and unfortunatly just gameplay wise neither of the two match what this has which only UO does, and infact surpasses. But once Tabula Rasa comes out, I am gone -- If not sooner.

I will also be sure to check the credits of every game I buy in the future after the demise of SWG and will be sure to never purchase anything that has the slightest thing to do with anyone from SWGs current and future developers.

i was rather looking foward to a christmas gift from soe, i missed out last year

the life day event was nice, however i had a robe and orb from someone who generously helped me out as a noobie wookiee a long time ago - so i guess i got the painting this year.

suprises, however, are always nice - especially when they are favorable to the populace (not a suprise server crash! lol)

well, we'll see how things turn out

20 more developers alongside the ones we have now that do nothing but sit around all day until they come up with an idea to dig this game even deeper into a hole?

What they need to do is revamp the entire development team. Get rid of all the current ones as they have really done nothing for this game besies drag it through the mud for over a year.

One good developer is better then 10 who do nothing.

Overreact much? Sounds like your mind is made up. Why don't you just move on to the next game? It sounds like there is nothing the Devs can do to make you happy. Personally, I can't believe anyone would get so upset over not having an ingame Christmas present. They put a system in so you could get one and so that the economy and the gameplay wouldn't get screwed up for months to come as a result. Sounds pretty responsible and likea good idea to me. You sound like you'd be much better off playing something else.

Last year... the developers gave us an item that has been ingame and reachable by everyone as a "present." That was there fault. In fact, holocrons shouldn't have been ingame from the start.

And look at UO... There is no trouble with their economy there because they give people snowballs to throw at each other. Also, UO gives rewards to players for buying expansion and pre orders that are tradable, so people can use them or sell them. As where with SWG everything is non-tradeable, which is stupid. If I knew the goggles were gonna be non-tradeable I never would've bought the CE.

And no, this is not overreacting. The developers barely acknowledging Christmas this year would mean an even less acknowledgement next year. It is enough they do not acknowledge Easter or Halloween or any other RL holiday that could bring an extra level of enjoyment to the game for that special occasion which every other MMORPG does.

I don't see why you do it to yourself. This upsets you so much and has been doing so for a year, yet you keep coming back for more. I can't believe a thing like not acknowledging a holiday in game has made you decided the devs are worthless and the game is not worth it. These holiday things are a bonus. Thats all. I'd much rather them not waste any time on them if it means any resources are pulled away from further development of content. If things like holiday celebrations in game mean so much to you, then why are you playing this game? It obviously can't live up to your expectations. I don't understand players like you. You have been angry so long at the game and the developers, and yet you stick around. That can't be healthy. If I were in your position, I'd have left and moved onto something that I enjoyed.
