I dont understand how people can just "expect" gifts... The development team have been hard at work this year to bring us a great game. To me, that is a gift in itself....

Who cares if they don't give us X-mas gifts. Hell, they haven't produced the sword they were promising to do in honor of the passing of the former Fencer correspondent. I'd rather these guys START work on the game and get it to where it should be after over a year of play. This Life Day "celebration" was pitiful but expected. WoW already has my attention so they best prop up SWG if they want to keep getting my money...

I liked Life Day. I'd much rather get a piece of art than have the game go through something akin to the Holocraze again.
And for those that think the players are entitled to something for their loyalty: they don't owe us anything. We pay our money, they keep the servers running. Its a simple MMORPG experience. If this game isn't what you want, then put your money where your mouth is and go to another game that meets your expectations.
By all means, keep making suggestions for improvement. Nothing should stop the community from giving feedback to the Devs on what they like, what they don't, what needs fixing, and what can be improved. On some levels, I'm sure the Devs find our input invaluable.
However, I doubt any little token the Devs could give out for the Holidays is going to keep a player in the game that is so disatisfied they'd consider leaving. Ask yourself, would another piece of art in your inventory make you keep playing if you were upset with the Devs, SOE, or the game? Its doubtful. For that, I commend the Devs for not making a grand gesture similar to the Holocrons that could have a potentially negative impact on the game for months.
In closing: Happy Life Day! If you don't want your gift, I'd be happy to take it off your hands.

Asking for a Christmas gift from SOE?
That's like the kid that hates his parents all year, then when Christmas comes around, asks nicely for everything he wants.

What he said. WoWis a better Christmas gift than anything we are getting out of SWG this year. Sad, but there it is...

I think the story archs we were told would be put out regularly are much better than any gift, I also like the great Friday Features, who could forget all the new mounts and vehicles being added to the game?, and everyone's favorite the "fixing" of solo groups. If you ask me we have already been given more gifts than we could ask for. -- Being as literal as possible.

They should have told us much earlier that there would be bo christmas gifts. They had to seen all the speculating about christmas gifts for over a month. Why wait till now to blurt out the truth?

I was wondering if anyone here knows if this is the only gift that we get this year. I mean two of the things were out last year and then some get lucky and get one of the new paintings.
Well what if I got an orb but still got mine from last christmas. Would that be equal to getting coal in my stocking? Or will we log in christmas morning and have a present in our inventory. Last year we all got holos plus the wookiee life day gifts.
Not that anyone knows yet but rumors are alwyas something to think about when you have a long day of work to do yet...
Sorry, but there will be no "automatic" Christmas gift this year.
I do want to thank the events team for pulling all of the Life Day events together though.
Bah humbug, SOE. Can't you scrape up something?

Have you ever seen Christmas Vacation? You remember the part where Clark gets the "Christmas Bonus" from his work and how he reacts to that?
Now, I'm not a big "gimme gimme gimme" person when it comes to Christmas. But after what you did last year, and what I've seen you do for Veteran rewards... I have to say that myself and many other people I know were very much COUNTING on a "gift" this year.
Don't take this the wrong way. I'm not offended. I'm not mad. I'm not going to "QUIT THE GAME!!".
I just think many people (myself included) are going to be a bit disappointed at the "no X-mas gift" this year. I referenced Christmas Vacation only because in that movie, he was "expecting" a Christmas bonus because he had gotten one every year. In SWG, we have also gotten a Christmas "bonus"every year (since there has only been one Christmas so far
).
Anyway... the Life Day stuff was very cool. I was a bit bummed that I got an orb, since I still have several from last year. But I suppose I can try to trade for a picture. 'Tis okay. Was just looking forward to the idea of a Christmas "gift" for everyone. It creates a very fun and festive environment in game during the holidays for everyone.

Damn, why can't more people be like us? I couldn't care less if someone wants to pray to God, Allah, Budda, or whatever. I still bow my head when someone prays at Thanksgiving.
It's called "respect for others". Some people need to learn it.

Waht I really want for Christmas is for Dath Vader or Boba Fett to spawn and to go search out all spammers('cept for docs buffing )and send there toons to the Dath Imperial prison for no less than a week. But atually having to do somthing for my gift (if there is one) is cool with me it will give me something to do for a little while........then back to grinding *sigh*. Wait I know what I want to be actually able to loot the new schems im Imp and seems like it all drops from Imperial NPCs and only a couple schems drop from tuskens
