These are the kind of changes that would be nice to know about before it goes live. i agree it should be an option. i used to have an fps of 30 no matter what back at the beginning. now i cant go into any city without slideshow mode kicking in. i ran on 516mb RAM then, and 516mb RAM now. something was lost between launch and the present. (true that may be my computer... the motherboard burned out but im on that computers identical twin now)
i miss those days. and the old textures.
I doubt it is your comp. I have always had a steady FPS of 30. Now, even with a gig of RAM, my fps will maybe, MAYBE hover around 10. I had to turn off my pixel/vertex shader completely to go back to lag free. The graphics difference is huge and quite depressing for the system quality I have

Hmm well my post where I blamed Tiggs for ignoring me was deleted, so I guess someone did notice this lol

Having received the cold shoulder from SOETyrant and Tiggs, I have now turned to TH. I have good faith he will sympathize with us, he has been with the game since beta and I know immersion is important to him.

Well we can still hope. I asked around a little ingame and not many noticed. But once you point it out...

Ewwwwe yep, that is how mine looks too
my entire guild has noticed...Though, the ones who play with low graphics and their pixel/shader turned off, have noticed less than those who play with their graphics cranked up.

ComCypher wrote:I've noticed something after the latest patch and I'm not sure if I'm just seeing things, so I wanted to find out if other's have noticed the same. The terrain textures in the game now have a more obvious tiled, repetitive look. It almost seems as though the devs shrunk the sizes of the texture files in an attempt to improve performance. I believe it is related to this item in the patch notes:"Streamlined the terrain system to improve client performance"Anyway there's nothing wrong with streamlining stuff, but I don't particularly like it when they reduced the graphics quality of something without giving an option to override it. Especially since I haven't noticed a performance improvement in the game after the last patch anyway.I'm sorry I don't have any screenshots to show what I'm talking about, but if you talk a walk around in the wild, particulary on planets where there aren't many trees (Lok, Tatooine, etc.) it should be pretty apparent. Unless of course I'm just imagining things.

Yeah... I noticed the 'tiles' as well. Doesn't add to immersion at all :/
I was like; "Hmmm, I don't remember installing 'SWG: 3rd Dawn'".

If you are refering to UO 3rd Dawn... I always hated the new gfx and played all the UO titles on the normal 2d client. Heh next to SWG I played it the most of all the mmorpg's I ever played.

TH? I thought everyone lost faith in that guy when he lied about the Combat rebalance was being worked on a year ago. There is a thread around here somewhere that has links to all his posts talking about the CU, starting in October 2003. It would actually be really funny, if it was not completely sad and pathetic.
Hmm well at least he talked about it
. Anyway if he isn't going to interact with us, who will?

I stuck to UO 2d as well, 3d was horrible.
Anyway, I agree with ComCypher, this is looking jacked up.

Phew.. I tought it was me who had gone nuts. Ive have noticed some kind of a change in the terrain textures too. Just couldnt put my finger on what.
Bought a new computer two months ago and running with the highest settings. Now it feels just like before with my old computer. If not worse.
Dont know if it is both colors and the "size" on texture thing. I think something is wrong with the flora too. Just doesnt feel like the old good Galaxies anymore.
I wonder if it is a intentional change or a "bug"?
