That's the advice I would have given! Here's the link...
hehe.... I know, I think I have asked you before that very question

Actually, I choose not to join any guild. The reality is that I was part of a guild, conspiracy theories and crazy claims would abound and it would affect many people. Because of this, I am guildless. The upside is that it prevents any community friction. The downside is that for me to do the DWB, Avatar Platform or other big raids, I have to be lucky enough to catch a group at the right time (which can be tough).
I would very much like to go on raids with community folks, but its a dicey issue and I'm trying to find the right solution for everyone involved.

For the DWB, most of the proficient groups post ahead of time on the Kettemoor forum. Just lurk, and show up at the rally point on the given night, and no one will be the wiser. I'm sure some of the other galaxies you play on have similar threads, if not its just more reason for you to play on Kettemoor more often.

This is something that always concerns me in many MMORPGs, the need for big guilds to accomplish many things, EQ and the like being the worse offenders. It isolates a lot of casual players or those who don't have time to devote to large guilds for raiding purposes. Aside the afore mentioned reasons, I often don't have time to help out guildees in previous MMORPGs I've played.
Its perhaps one reason I like SWG as much as I do is there is little that requires large guilds to do, (DWB being one example). As long as SWG stays a game that stays away from large raid content, this game will remain good for the casual player. Yet equally having said that, one thing SWG seriously needs is enough content for six-eight member groups. RotW is a good start, but a lot of that can be accomplished by a duo of lvl 80s. I only hope this next expansion addresses more of the full group content.
If SWG remains true to the 5 to 8 man group content, then we can see this game really break into the market. However such content must remain a really long term challenge to these groups. Like EQ, the plane of time has taken a good few months for raid groups to become able to enter the place. Hope to see SWG content that requires players to group together consistently and over a long period of time to get access to. I.e. a series of quests that a group can take before entering a particular area. but each quest should be accomplishable in 3 hours (max). But to do it in this time the group must be a highly efficent one.
My only concern will come when and if SWG starts to resort to raid lvl content, this will alienate a lot of the casual gamers. This is the first thing that appealled to me when I started to play SWG, the casualness of the game. Raid level material will turn a lot of players away who have become disillusioned with the likes of EQ raids and heck even WoW Raids.

Thanks TH for the responseIt's really encouraging to see that doing what you love really can play out. You say you spend a lot of time programming? Sometimes the idea of programming can be daunting or dull. As a dev, what do you find yourself doing a majority of the time on a work day? Sorry for the questions, just love hearing insights
So, I used to program...about a million years ago. Anything I do would be considered a light hobby at best. I'm a community guy by trade now
The folks I work with can code as fast as I can type and they really amaze me. Programmers and Designers always have their head buried in code or are in meetings talkiung about the next leg of development. Programming for them is enjoyable, but by no means gets dull. SWG is a very high paced environment.
As far as me? The community team is always working to solve issues. We work with CS, try to answer PMs and help players, get information out, write features and the like. We do a lot of reporting too. We pull info for bug reports, top issues, interact with the community, the correspondents and the devs.
Never a dull moment![]()
THIS is a fascinating insight into your job environment. I admit I've been curious about it for a while. Thanks, TH!

My pleasure! It is positive discussions like this that make talking about the process possible. The more this happens, the more everyone understands and that helps everyone get along and that's the goal.
