Thread: Tuesday Tips May 17th Squad Leader: Volleyfire

Just some informal testing... called a Volley Fire against a level 64 Kwi on Dathomir. Before the Volley I was hitting for 611 damage with Ranged Shot; afterwards, for 702, a 14.89% increase. Interestingly, using Rally didn't increase my damage at all... so my accuracy probably isn't high enough to show a damage inrease against the kwi, which is why I only see a 15% increase from volleyfire.

Rally increases "combat defense and to hit" modifiers, not speed or damage. So the individual "hits" would not increase in damage or frequency under Rally, just the chance that your shots actually hit the target. So if your accuracy is low, you will do more damage over time with Rally, but not more damage per hit or more shots per minute...
Except it's been stated that having accuracy higher than the defense of your target increases your damage the greater the differential is. So you would expect that +40 to accuracy would give higher raw damage output.

An interesting thought has just crept into my warped mind...
If everyone has me targeted using the pass-through feature on my Volley Fire target, then they can keep me healed when I draw the creature... Nice...![]()
Here's a good tip:
If you leave your vendor unattended for two short weeks (and there are no sales) it will be deleted with absolutely no warning no matter how much maintenance is paid up or how many items are on it.
People need to know this before it happens to them.
I think the cooldown timer for volleyfire is to long.
If you're in a full group you hit those imp NPC pretty fast and sometimes I would like to paint two or three targets so my group takes them down.
I would rather NOT have the increased damage but the abilitiy to paint MORE targets and give them AN ORDER in which my group should attack the targets. E.g. not only put an almost near indistinguisable crosshair on them but a BIG number so my ppl know what target to hit first and what second AND I would love to see the crosshair myself too as well as the number I put on it to know myself that the skill is working.
Btw. the 8pp group is realy realy realy realy realy realy .... (I guess you get the point) BAD. I had to reject already so many ppl to hunting /faction mission parties which could have been a lot more fun with more ppl. The size of the group does increase the spawn of the faction NPC on faction missions so whats the point of "balancing" here anway. The more ppl the more spawns the more difficult.
And for my base raid day, 8ppl total .... . Sure I can invite the second group into "a seperate additional to create chat channel" (why not my groupchat ?) but if I have two groups they gonna steal each others FP. THIS is DISCOURAGING group play.
Ah ...
Thunderheart thx for bringing some attention to SL ... =).
I ll try to shut myself down and relax while looking forward to see STARWARS tonight....

Holy cow, calm down with the spelling rant! By the way if you're going to get bent out of shape because someone spelled volley wrong, then it must really annoy you when people spell the word "spelled" wrong. "Spellt" is not the proper past tense form of spell. It is "spelled". It makes you look like one of those "borderline" people you refer to when you make spelling errors in your spelling rant post.
Hi!
You're one of the people I'm talking about!
Firstly - go to school and learn to read correctly. The word I used was "spelt", with a single "L". Not two. That is a very important distinction, as you will see in a moment.
Secondly - surprise, surprise - "spelt" is a real word! OMG!
"Spelled" in the sentence I wrote would have been incorrect, although at least you managed to try and correct me with a word that actually does exist.
"People" spelling volley wrong, I would not have commented on.
An official SOE representative being incapable of spelling a word, despite the correct spelling being in the game and in this very thread, is worth pointing out. I do not go out of my way to correct all the bad spelling on the entirety of the forum, but I do not think it is out of place to ask that such a "prominent" thread as the Tuesday Tips should spell skill names correctly. Unless /vollyfire is a valid command in game, this has more ramifications than just the further dumbing down of "teh intarweb".
I would have tested /vollyfire myself, but I no longer have any Squad Leader skills. Perhaps someone should do so.
[Edited to add]
/vollyfire will tell you there's no such command. Therefore, the spelling needs to be corrected, as I already said.

While SLs have their moment in the sun....
Did you know that the Squad Leader profession is the only ground profession that has a special that works in space? At novice you get the /sys command which makes a system message instructing your group what you want done. (whether they listen is another story).
This is valuable in the fast paced action of space. I found it a great way to let my group members know who we should be targeting first. If the target should be disabled or destroyed etc. And using the alias tricks outlined in the SL FAQ I make them color coded as well.
Squad Leader Jounville Blackferne: TAKE OUT THE GUNSHIP ENGINE!!
To bypass the cloning station BUG (that's been around since double xp week!!) simply target the cloning station and type /clone. This will automatically store your clone data to that station.
For the entertainer BUG (that's been around since double xp week!!) try this macro:
/watch;
/pause 5;
/ui action toolbarSlot00;
and for listening
/listen;
/pause 5;
/ui action toolbarSlot01;
Give these some pretty icons and put them in the first two slots of your toolbar. This will save you the trouble of repeatedly typing /watch or /listen until the game recognizes that 1m from target is within range. Once you are successfully listening to your entertainer, just type /dump to purge the loop.

yeah, we had almost16 people just for the village exit quest a few nights back. Two large groups, would have been nice for the couple people with healing to see how people in the opposite group were doing.
