We have often wondered how this work, and this was a good description.
However, I also want to ask: Do Volley Fire give bonus to yourself, even if you do it without a group?
You have to be in a group to activate volleyfire. This can include being grouped with a pet or droid.

Now here is my question: If Volleyfire gives you a +15% acc bonus along with the +15% dmg bonus aren't you getting more than +15% dmg since acc compared to target def adjusts the damage you do?
I'm wondering what would happen with /rally, /steadyaim and /volleyfire all up at once. Could be a large dmg bonus overall. Hmm...

Good idea, but i've found it pretty hard to stand still long enough to get all 4 of them up at once.. not to mention they only last about 30s each, so you only get ~10s of full buffness.

If I'm not mistaken, a quad leader can only have one ability active at once and only a squad leader who is the group leader can use his abilities. If so, you would be unable to stack those abilites. I could be wrong, I'm no SL

That's incorrect

Great Tip TH. Two questions, i always thought that volleyfire actually shifted the target to my(im a squadleader) target. Your wording makes it seem like i designate a target and its up to them to attack it.
1. Will my group's targets all switch to the target im attacking when i use /volleyfire
2. Will they stay on that target after volleyfire is over or do they just target, attack and go back to whatever they were fighting?
1. No, all of your group members will have to actively target the vollyfire target. It will be "painted" with a glowing target, but it will not automatically switch your group member's target. It was decided that it is really annoying to have your target automatically switch in combat - - especially in situations where you might be defending yourself while other members in your party are attacking a different enemy.
2. Nothing "sticks" with vollyfire after the special is complete. The bonus and target lasts for the duration of the ability against whatever the Squad Leader targeted. When the cool-down is complete, the Squad Leader can choose a new victim...er...target...
When a group member is in a tough combat situation, there is an easy way to help them out.
Simply target your group member and attack!
Any attack you execute will "pass through" your group-mate and on to strike your group-mate's target. The pass-through assist does require for your group member to have something targeted.
For example, I am in a group with Virrago and GarVa . GarVa comes under heavy attack by a group of creatures. For Virrago and me to "assist" GarVa, GarVa needs to target one of his enemies. Once GarVa has an enemy targeted, we simply need to target GarVa and attack. As a result, all of our attacks will "pass through" GarVa and hit whomever (or whatever) GarVa has targeted.
That would adress: "Will my group's targets all switch to the target im attacking when i use /volleyfire"
or am I mistaken?

Rogue1970: explain. This is a raw damage increase after your normal damage is calculated; it isn't an increase to your weapon's base damage. Is that what you're referring to?

Long answer: read even higher
"Another tip: combine last week's Tuesday Tip with today's to make your squad much more effective! If everyone targets the Squad Leader and uses their special abilities on him, they will always attack the target he's painted with Volley Fire (as long as the Squad Leader keeps attacking that target himself). There's no easier way to get the most out of that 15% damage bonus!"
