Yes just like in EQ2 (actually I played EQ2 a couple of days and found this feature quite quickly because of it). No more typing /assist or assigning keys to macros...

if you have not realized yet, this is an new set of EQ2 servers ...... new clothings, new spells, strange things called AT-STs , but it is Everquest ...

Great tip...too bad documentation isn't available for us to read about all this stuff ahead of time...

Maybe it isn't a tip, after all, but a paragraph of missing documentation?

Only 300 more tips and I can print out a new guide to replace my old, worthless one...

Does the pass through damage mean that the person actually targetting the enemy deals that damage then? I'm asking this based on loot rights. Currently the way it stands is the single person who deals the most damage gains the loot rights. If this pass through healing worked as I think it could then a group could deal enough damage to a high end mob to ensure that their group gains the corpse permissions. Otherwise we may still from time to time have issues with kill stealing from the higher damaging professions.

The assist logic is only used to determine who you are attacking. If you target a group-mate, then you will attack their combat target when you attack, you still perform the attack and get full credit for the attack for XP determinations and loot rights.

As for group loot credit, the total damage and pseudo-damage (healing, taunting, etc) done by the group is used to determine the loot rights.

While useful, it is not very effective for managing a fight with multiple targets. If my tank attacks and we assist, we then cannot see the HAM of what we are attacking and that makes it difficult to time your next target. Can this be addressed?

I am glad I am not the only one who is missing the displayed HAM of all attacking targets.

Please devs, bring this back.

That being said, thanks for the tip TH, I will have to try it out.

Auto attack doesn't work through assist. Its a bit of a pain to try to attack that way when you have to button mash. More efficient to directly target the mob for attacks.

Now this Sir is an outstanding tuesday tip. I would appriciate if you could improve the UI, so we could actually see the ham and state effects on our pass-through target.

I have a question for the pass-through heals. If the doc targets a player to use pass-through attacks and then he uses heal, he will only heal the targeted player, right? If the doc is directly attacking the enemy and then uses heal, the heal would pass through to the current attacked target. If the enemy uses an area attack, will the docs heal pass onto the most damaged target, or always to the target that is the center of the enemies attacks?

FEATURES THAT WOULD MAKE THIS MORE IMPRESSIVE:

  • I would appreciate if you could change the follow command, so you can set a distance at which you like to follow. So a rifle man could follow a melee tank at exactly 60m, staying out of range of the enemy.

  • Make the group leader / squad leader able to cast formations. (How impressive would it be to see a full groups always running, in excact formation), where squad leaders speed is turned to the speed of the slowest group member. This could only work for group members targeting the SL, so a squad could still have a scout in there lines.

  • Make the squad leader able to cast targets or even able to split is group in casting groups, and then the pass-through attack will automatically hit the casted target. This would make the SL a more tactition profession, where he don't need to attack targets himself, to make his members attacking it.

Cool.

Does Garva have to actually be in combat, or just have something targeted?

i.e. lets say Garva has a Darth Vador targeted but is wise enough not to have taken a shot at him ... so long as Gava is NOT in combat, could this pass through accidently cause me to attack Darth (lets say I hit shoot instead of heal by mistake)?

You have to be in combat and actively doing something; shooting at something, healing, etc.
Now, for the pass-through heals, if the mob is actively attacking someone in your group, the heal will pass through and heal whoever the creature or NPC has targeted.

Is there any way we can get the UI upgraded to show a target info box under the current target box if a team member has a target selected. This would be a very nice addition to this feature and make this pass-through targetting much more useful (showing us target name, current status effects, HAM, and what-not).

The team definitely wants to enhance the UI to better reflect the pass-through targeting (as well as other things), but we don't have any information on "when" at the moment.

Is it possible to make it so all enemies attacking you will show their HAM bars like in the old system? In the old system you instantly knew what was aggroed to you as it had the HAM bar viewable above the creature/NPC, now I have to select each MOB individually and look at the icon next to the HAM to see if its flashing.
Often times while checking factories with my crafter I start getting attacked, but have no idea what is attacking me or what direction I should run in to get away. And with my combat character sometimes a sneaky ranged MOB will be wailing on me without me knowing it from behind a tree or something, and when I think I am safe and my target is just about to die, I get incapped by the guy I did not see and did not expect. Bringing back the floating HAM would help both of these problems.

I also miss how in the old system, when you tabbed around in combat or when you wanted to selected something other than the MOB attacking you, all you needed to do to go back to targetting the attacker was click on empty space. This was so handy when you were running away from a MOB and facing forward, with the MOB off-screen you could not TAB to it, but with a quick click of the mouse anyway on the screen, you could have it targeted without needing to turn around and bring it into view.

These kinds of shortcuts are still habit for me, and I miss them greatly in the CU.

QFE. I tried using this over the last couple days, and it's less than useless as it is now. With no way of seeing what exactly your group tank has targetted and what the health status of that target is, you end up pulling MORE aggro to you rather than letting the tank manage aggro like it's supposed to be. Multiple times when I tried to usethis, right after a target dropped the tank would look around to prep for the next target. Since I had NO way of knowing the target had dropped or that I should stop attacking, I ended up pulling a new target to me immediately before we were ready. We were lucky we didn't end up dead, and I sure ended up pissing off the group. After three tries, I just gave up and pickedthe target the old fashioned way - with my mouse.

What we need is for the HAM bars ofthe tank'starget to become visible when you clickthe tankmember, forauto-attack to work through it, and for auto-attack to stop when the tank'starget drops orchanges.

If you're going to pull features from EQ2, maybe try playing EQ2 so you know how said feature actually works before you port it over. It saves us a lot of frustration.
