Cool.
Does Garva have to actually be in combat, or just have something targeted?
i.e. lets say Garva has a Darth Vador targeted but is wise enough not to have taken a shot at him ... so long as Gava is NOT in combat, could this pass through accidently cause me to attack Darth (lets say I hit shoot instead of heal by mistake)?
You have to be in combat and actively doing something; shooting at something, healing, etc.
Now, for the pass-through heals, if the mob is actively attacking someone in your group, the heal will pass through and heal whoever the creature or NPC has targeted.

Is there any way we can get the UI upgraded to show a target info box under the current target box if a team member has a target selected. This would be a very nice addition to this feature and make this pass-through targetting much more useful (showing us target name, current status effects, HAM, and what-not).
The team definitely wants to enhance the UI to better reflect the pass-through targeting (as well as other things), but we don't have any information on "when" at the moment.
Is it possible to make it so all enemies attacking you will show their HAM bars like in the old system? In the old system you instantly knew what was aggroed to you as it had the HAM bar viewable above the creature/NPC, now I have to select each MOB individually and look at the icon next to the HAM to see if its flashing.
Often times while checking factories with my crafter I start getting attacked, but have no idea what is attacking me or what direction I should run in to get away. And with my combat character sometimes a sneaky ranged MOB will be wailing on me without me knowing it from behind a tree or something, and when I think I am safe and my target is just about to die, I get incapped by the guy I did not see and did not expect. Bringing back the floating HAM would help both of these problems.
I also miss how in the old system, when you tabbed around in combat or when you wanted to selected something other than the MOB attacking you, all you needed to do to go back to targetting the attacker was click on empty space. This was so handy when you were running away from a MOB and facing forward, with the MOB off-screen you could not TAB to it, but with a quick click of the mouse anyway on the screen, you could have it targeted without needing to turn around and bring it into view.
These kinds of shortcuts are still habit for me, and I miss them greatly in the CU.

I really miss that. Not knowing what is attacking you is a huge disadvantage in PvE. You need 10 secs more to Figure out what's attacking. And if it's not that one then you get 2 agroed on you.

If I target GarVa or Virrago and hit attack, wont I get deleted and banned? Seems to be the MO.

Pass-Through Assisting
For example, I am in a group with Virrago and GarVa . GarVa comes under heavy attack by a group of creatures. For Virrago and me to "assist" GarVa, GarVa needs to target one of his enemies. Once GarVa has an enemy targeted, we simply need to target GarVa and attack. As a result, all of our attacks will "pass through" GarVa and hit whomever (or whatever) GarVa has targeted.
Why was this change made TH? It removed the last way of telling who is attacking you. You're left guessing while taking damage and anything you target flashes.
Is there any point in us hoping for documentation for this new game or will we have to rely on posts like this and the odd sentence in system messages?
I mean lets supose garva is a ranged attacker, then he root the target and start the combat 65m away, I am melee and select garva and attack him with melee strike wich has 6m radius attack, so my attack will pass by garva and attack the mob 65m away from me? or the target must be in my combat range to the attack be delivered?

SWG have never been so fun to me as it is being now before CU, ty devs.

Now onto my questions…is the assist function the same as from EQ1?
Meaning ok I target my tank and do /assist and my new target becomes the mob that my tank is targeting or does my dmg actually pass through the tank and I keep the tank targeted?
If it is the ladder…does the mob think the dmg is coming from the tank meaning there is zero chance of me stealing agro? (yuck if so!)
Also, if it is the ladder what happens if my tank switches mobs before the first one is dead? And what happens if the first one dies and the tank switches to another mob do we do the /assist again?
My tip is for people that want to solo pull…if there are two mobs next to each other and you only want one…root the one you don't want and then shoot the other that you do want to make sure it agros you and run like hell…get out of agro range of the rooted one while taking the other one with you…works most of the time.
In EQ1, when you /assisted someone, your target would change to the target of the assisted PC. With Pass-Through or Implied Assist (taken from EQ2), you need to do nothing more than target your buddy, and start attacking. Attacks will land on the MOB that your friend has targeted at that time (and will shift to new targets if your friend changes targets). On the flip side, if you're a healing class and you have a MOB targeted, you can heal the MOBs active target by just throwing the heal out....It will land on the friendly PC that the MOB is engaging.
One thing to note here. Implied assist is not always a good thing to do in certain situations. Some professions have a paralyze action that will immobilize the targetfor a specified period or time or until that target takes damage. Therefore, you don't want to be implied assisting a PC that is doing this action as, once the paralyze lands, you're going to *wake it up* by damaging it with an attack. (Since you played EQ1, you should recall how upset Enchanters would get in that case.

Excellent tip!
This was one of the more useful, yet under used features of the old system. I glad that they made things more streamlined for the CU!
In nearly two years, I never once got /assist to work
