During Beta it took me forever to get to lvl 3 survival, nearly a month. Without any changes to the game I managed to get to lvl 4 in two weeks, long before I finished any of the other scout skills. It was just a matter of strategy. I placed a camp when ever I got the chance and the xp just rolled in.

First off you need to know how much xp you get and how long it takes to get them

Small camps max xp 600 (1 tent)

Multi-person camps max xp 800 (2 tents)

Improved Camps max xp 1000 (3 tents plus electric lighting)

There are 3-4 more larger camps and are made by Rangers, they work the same way, though are much more costly to build, but can easily hold 20+ people comfortably. The larger ones have crafting and medical stations and are more like a truck stop than a camp, they make excellent mini-bases for multiple groups.

Xp rate is based on how many people are in the camp. With one person the small camps max out in around 30 minutes

1 person/30minutes

2 people/15minutes

15people/2minutes

Pay attention to the clock and disband your old camp and drop a new one. The benefits of a camp do not expire, so you can camp all day if you want, just the xp will max out.

Large groups can make leveling very easy, but you have compitition from other scouts who are also trying to level. To make your camp more enticing, be a medic and become know for healing wounds. Hanging out in static battle fields and missions points works well too, though you are going to have a tough time competing against Ranger camps that have crafting/med stations. It best to just go hunting with friends and drop the camps and disband them and drop a fresh one when ever they max out. If you like to sample for resources get into the habit of dropping a camp every time you stop to sample. I would sample for copper, craft things that don't benefit from experimentation, and grind out survival xp at the same time. If you are running with a large group (15-20ppl) and noone is dropping camps larger than multiperson camps, then don't be shy, drop yours right next to theirs. In only take 5 extra ppl to max out a camp in 5 minutes. You'll get the xp since the multi-person camps can't really hold more than 5-10ppl anyway. Another suggestion is to have a higher level friend make you camps that are one lvl above your current level. You'll get more xp per camp and will have an easier time getting people to use them.

In response to this I call on the community to make a gesture to all our scout friends out there out of politeness. If you are running to/from a mission, and you see a camp set up, run into it, stop for a bit, give them the visitor, chit chat a second, and run out again. Give them a few more XP. Doesn't take all that long to do (hell, if it renders, it's a short run), and it will be appreciated, I'm sure.

Got to say that getting Survival XP is way too slow. I group often for hunts and thats got my combat and scouting xp way up (now onto tier 4 on both), which I need for squad leader.

However I am still grinding on the 2nd tier of survival.. to be honest I dont think it should max out at 600xp, since camps are not set up that often and when they are I usually have 10+ people sitting in it for 10+ mins, the benefits are way to low.

How do you disband a camp? I've always just left the camp and I got XP when it was abandoned.

If you can disband a camp right away that would save me tons of time.

Chani, I'm sure glad your not on my server because everyone I know that starts camps right away in groups without asking or alternating with other people get blacklisted real quick.

If you want to do it right in groups, either designate the one to put up the camps and alternate or find out who needs the xp the most and everyone can get a change at what they need, so if one person is really working on harvesting and your working on camping you both get to work on your skills without the other people getting torked at you.

I'm not quite sure how to disband a camp directly with a command (/attack?). However, after a while the camps will poof. At least mine do. I just set the pause timer for 60 minutes and for some reason or another this works out great. I don't need to disband the camp, I just set another one up. To be honest, I never checked to see what is happening at this particular moment, because I only do this when I'm sleeping, eating, stabbing the cat with a fork, Lebannese Footwear gag, etc. But, at next opportunity, Imight stick around just to see. Anyhoo, it works. I've gotten tens of thousands of camping xp while sleeping. Cheers

There is a little device that is near a tent or one of the tents of your camp. If you click and hold on that device you will have the option to disband camp, as well as see the status of your camp, which I belive displays who created the camp, how long its been up, as well as how many visitors you have had. I normally disband my camp by that means, unless I get attacked or I'm in a hurry; then I will just leave the camp and it disbands itself.

Thus far I'm able to make High Quality Camps, which I think I acquired the skill to make those when I became a Novice Ranger.

Two notes on your macro.

1. The command is toolbarSlot## not toolSlot## but thanks for the advice anyways, I managed to find out how to get that part to work.

2. Unless I can figure out what to type in the macro to get the camp to disband it does not work. When you try to set up a second camp it won't let you if the other one is still active.

So if anyone has a command that will disband a camp please post

Two things:

1. Why do we have to make a camp and sit in it to learn how to survive? (which should be the basis of survival exp). I am just sitting. It is like giving me pistol exp for twirling my blaster around.

2. Why do we not get survival exp for foraging? Certainly that has more in common with survival exp than sitting in a friggin camp.

2 cents...take it or leave it

Wow...today is the day we talk about things from weeks ago that we've already talked about.

Seriously though, this is an issue thatI brought up to the Devs last week. Read more about the many issues I brought up here: http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=scout&message.id=4182&page=2

At least if we could fish...

I mean, set camp near lake, and fish from it. That would be fun. But the camp is always more then 2m from water, so we can't fish.

Survival is the longest exp ever. Even with a group that heals. It's just...long.
